Only good thing about this hotel is the location. Room was dirty, i stayed 2 nights and the service did not come to do my room?! Can't believe I spent $500/night and service did not even bother to clean the room. After letting the front desk know and requested for a staff member to do my room, all I got were new towels, but the room was never cleaned. So, again, the only good thing about this hotel was it's centric location. read more

I would recommend this hotel 10 out of 10. The staff was friendly, and the location was ideal and tidy--it was near everything you would want it to be, from food to shops and museums. The service was perfect! All the staff were so sweet! They even cleaned our room while we were gone! The only thing that stuck out to me was that there was no fridge, now call me crazy that I think that it is abnormal to not have a fridge, but back at my home town we have fridges in our hotel rooms. But no biggie! That didn't really matter anyway. The price kind of gagged me though, we stayed four nights for almost $1,700! Now that price shouldn't have been that much but it was in such a good location! Can't pass that up! read more

The rooms are small, but clean. We wanted clean. There was nothing that was not clean. Hotel provided fitered water on every floor with reusable water bottles. Never drank tap water. Great location. Our room did not have a view except of some office workers across a terrace. Other rooms could be better. Website said 3 day minimum, but we got two days thru "book it". read more

Is there ANYthing they haven't thought of??? Absolutely THRILLED with our stay here. I don't consider myself the type to want to be in the center of everything... which this hotel really is (just up the block from the skate center, St. Patrick's Church, and radio city music hall... but enough/about a 5 minute walk from Times Square). I can't think of a single con about this hotel, only pros: - friendly, genuinely helpful service (eg. my blow dryer stopped blowing with a half wet head, and they were up right away with a replacement and reco to keep both because they automatically switch off when they get too hot) - free guest laundry with detergent and dryer sheets supplied - free purified water on all levels with new water bottles to fill and reuse - decent gym with some staple equipment - beautiful, peaceful work/lounge area with fireplace, a selection of la colombe coffees (not Keurig -- thank you!) - spacious room (given NYC) with places to put stuff to keep the area tidy - nicely appointed bathroom space and toiletries - EXCELLENT value Pro tip: Try to book a room on the top/15th floor -- the views of St. Patrick's are awe inspiring!!! read more

We stayed in a Club Qtr hotel in DC and it was awful. When we arrived in New York and found the same thing we were not happy but were assured the air units were actual units. Ours kept shutting off. We roasted all night. Shower is small also but other than that this has a great location. Pretty loud street noise though. read more

I love this hotel and have stayed there on 4 separate occasions. The staff are great, the location is awesome and the rooms are clean and quiet. I am not comfortable in the NYC hotel rooms with rear facing windows so I choose/pay for rooms with a street view. The Jewel has great options for that. I love that the windows open slightly. The street is relatively quiet. The worst thing I could say would be it is time for a refresh of the decor. read more

Just stayed at The Jewel and had a wonderful time in New York City. Great location, as others have stated. Staff were professional and friendly. Clean rooms, soft beds to sink into after a long day of walking. Really enjoyed the coffee on the 2nd floor. In case you're wondering, as I was, I'm a solo female traveler and found the city to be safe to wander around in alone during the day. Although, I did only stay in the Manhattan area going to the museums, and did not use the subway, so I cannot give an opinion on that. Bring comfortable walking shoes. read more

My first time staying here and it was really because of work so I didn't spend much time in the room. There are a lot of these smaller hotels scattered throughout the city, usually tucked into larger buildings and this hotel is certainly one of them. Small lobby area with a check in desk as soon as you walk in to the right. There is also a small area right past that with some free candy and snacks as well as a computer for general use. A few small couches and then the elevators to the rooms. There were two elevators and they require a key to get to your floor. The rooms are surprisedly spacey, for Manhattan anyway. Decent sized bed with a small desk, chair, and closet. The bathroom is decent sized as well. If you are lucky enough to get a room facing the street then you could have a pretty good view depending on how high up you are. They also had breakfast I believe which was actually served in the restaurant next door. Pretty good bang for your buck staying here and the location I think can't be beat. Especially if you are exploring the city. Radio City is down the block, Rockfeller Center is across the street, tons of shopping a few blocks away, restaurants, Broadway, bars, etc are all blocks away. There are also a few subway stations minutes walking distance. Very convenient location. read more

We just got back from a weekend staying here and we loved it. Although the room was not big, which is by New York standards not a big deal, it was very clean and super quiet. Location of hotel is literally across street from Rockefeller Center and is close for walking all areas in midtown. Right off Fifth Ave, you can hop on a bus to head downtown. Subways were also very close. The second floor had complimentary, fresh grounded coffee and a sitting area. Parking is a block and a half away for a discounted price of $40 a night - a bargain for New York Not a fancy place, but well appointed and super quiet if not facing the street. We were in 606 that faced the atrium and it was the most quiet hotel I have ever stayed in while visiting New York. The bed was very comfortable too. I think I found my go to place when visiting the city. read more

The best part about this hotel is the location. Right by tons of restaurants, Times Square, and the theaters. The staff is also friendly. But that's about as far as it goes, for what it is. Rooms are nice enough. But the WiFi is virtually nonexistent. It's free, but there's no option to upgrade it. Could barely even load a video on it. You were lucky to get 2min of hot water in the shower. When using the sink faucet, brown water would slosh out of it every now and then. Gym is nothing special. It's good if you're here to see a show or explore NYC. But if you have to spend more time in the room itself, I'd suggest going somewhere else. read more

On our recent trip to New York City, we stayed at the Jewel. A great hotel that I would recommend people to stay at. The location alone is a huge bonus. You're right across from the Rockefeller Centre so you're in a safe, clean, convenient area of the city. You're also steps away from two subway stations and a handful of lines. There are also a lot of shops and eateries just steps away so you don't have to travel far. Check-in was a little confusing, but there staff were available to help. The lobby is quite small and there are two kiosks to check in/out. I think the intention is for guests to do this themselves and the room keys pop out after completing the check in process? The room was clean and spacious with a large flatscreen tv along with a desk, lounge chair and closet. It was so quiet that it seemed like we were the only people staying here. There was a lounge for guests to use along with a coffee/tea machine for complimentary caffeine. In the afternoon, I went down to the lounge to grab a coffee and noticed that there were a lot of guests ... so we weren't the only ones staying here. Additional features of the Jewel is free WiFi, washer/dryer with Tide packets, snacks in the small lobby, and a fitness room. I had every intention of working out during my vacation, but my gym clothes did not leave my suitcase ... I would definitely recommend staying here! Good for: lodging read more

Thanks to Elizabeth and Chris and Eric...I had a formal event and a white gown that was horribly wrinkled, there was a little bit of use on the iron in the room and being afraid for my white dress I asked if I could get another...less than five minutes later a brand new iron was brought to me and my white gown was saved. I couldn't believe how fast! Also this hotel has laundry services which is huge in New York! read more

1. Rooms are not cleaned or made up btw nights unless you ask. 1a. you have to know you have to air you have the room cleaned and bed made and new towels. While the ground desk told me she informed me, I was tired checking in and don't remember her telling me. They could have handed guests a printed card or had them sign something to highlight this. And Although it's on the tv somewhere, my tv didn't work until late day 2. 2. Internet speed horrible slow. 3. Office center not great a little dated. Internet speed terrible in office center. Coffee but couldn't find water. Asked twice. No offer to show me. I looked twice and gave up. 4. Pillows not comfortable. 5. Disappointing especially after seeing the great reviews. read more

Very charming hotel located in midtown Manhattan. For location reference, Radio City Music Hall is on the same street and a half a block away in one direction and St. Patrick's Cathedral. Shout out to Sandy who took great care of us and gave access to the hotel lounge before our check-in so we can plan what to do. Our room on the 14th floor has the view of the cathedral which was beautiful and came equipped with a fridge and microwave. This property is also 2 blocks from the E and F train lines which brings us to the free shuttles in Queens that bring us to LA Guardia Aiport (LGA). Recommended for anyone staying within midtown Manhattan. read more

This place deserves no more than 3 stars AT BEST. I'm not from NYC so I don't know what to expect or what the "common standard" is. But I do know what I expect in a hotel. All it really takes to make me happy in a hotel room is a clean room and a comfortable bed. But this hotel only fulfilled the clean part. The bed on the other hand was the most UNcomfortable one I've ever slept on. EVER. It was like sleeping on a board with a sheet on top of it. And the "comforter" might as well have been a sheet of paper. It was super thin and it kept sliding off in middle of the night. The reason it gets the 3 stars though is location. It is right next to Rockefeller Center! And only a short walk from Times Square and Broadway. It is also quiet and tucked away so that was nice being in the middle of a big busy city. So if all you care about is location, then this place is great! If you actually want some sleep, DON'T stay here. I still have one night left here and I'm dreading going to bed. read more

I know, odd name for a hotel ... but it's pretty accurate -- I wouldn't necessarily call it a jewel, but it's definitely facing Rockefeller Center :) Great location - just a block from Rockefeller Center, and I could see Radio City from my room. Hotel room was very clean, felt very new, and like almost all boutique hotels in NY, pretty small. However I'll take "clean and new" over anything else. Free wired Internet access, too. Business office is on the 2nd floor, and they allow you to do free printing. Ladies at the front reception were very friendly and helpful. I'd definitely stay here again. Reasonable rate for the NY market - I paid about $239/night. By the way, you should definitely get up early and try to get on The Today Show -- it's just a block away. I didn't get on TV but at least I got to shake Al Roker's hand! :) read more

We stayed at this hotel a few weeks before Christmas 2017. The location is awesome if you're there to do the touristy things. The staff were helpful. The cost was very reasonable for that time of year. Our room was nice, spacious. We had a fridge and a microwave. There was a chair that pulled out to a single bed. It was clean and quiet. I will agree with other reviewers that the bed was uncomfortable. The common area is really nice with drinks (non-alcoholic) and room to relax. It was a bit difficult to get to the hotel (on 51st Street) by taxi at Christmastime due to high foot traffic and part of the street being blocked at times. We had to get cabs on 5th or 6th Avenue but it was an easy walk, even with luggage. I would definitely recommend this hotel. read more

I attended a graduation at Radio City Music Hall and I opted to stay as close to the venue as possible. I booked my stay at the Jewel after quite a bit of research. The location was perfect, my room, although dated, was comfortable but my TV was not working properly for 3 of the 4 nights I stayed. My family did not travel with our iPads so, aside from our phones, the TV was our primary source of entertainment when we were in our room. After going the first night without the use of the TV (but not without trying to get it to work for quite some time), we went to sleep and dealt with it the next day. The next day we contacted the front desk and asked for new remote batteries which we received promptly. This did not fix the problem prompting another call to the front desk and a visit by one of the staff to check it out Unfortunately they said that they couldn't get it to work either and that we would have to wait for a maintenance representative on Monday. By Tuesday our remote was reset / reprogrammed by maintenance and we could use the tv just in time for our last night. Upon checkout we asked to speak to a manager and Elizabeth came to greet us in the lobby. We explained our situation (which was documented with each of our calls to the staff) and we asked for some type of concession on our final bill for the inconvenience. Elizabeth politely denied our request but offered to give us a nice discount on a future stay. I explained to her that there may not be a next time as we were only in town for a graduation. I can understand if I frequented the hotel for business...then her offer would have been great. But that's not the case and, after informing her of this, her decision did not change. It still amazes me that some managers don't see the whole picture. I wasn't specific in my request and frankly, any concession would have been acceptable and an acknowledgement of my problem. Instead, I'm posting this review for hundreds, maybe thousands to see which is potentially far more costly than taking care of the problem on the spot. I work in management in the automotive industry and live every day with the reality that, without satisfied customers, you don't have business Unfortunately, the Jewel manager did not handle the situation adequately and I don't feel like there was any appreciation of my patronage. read more

This is a nice, quiet hotel located in the heart of Rockefeller Center. Checking in was quick and easy - the hotel lobby/front desk here is the simplest I ever seen. It's unusually tiny bit efficient. The room was clean, spacious. Pretty much had everything we needed. Since we only stood 3 days here we were not given room service "due to covid" but we were able to request extra towels, soap, etc as needed. The staff here is friendly and accommodating. The bed was soft and very comfortable. We were able to open the windows which was nice. The view from our room faced 51st and we could see down Rockefeller Plaza and Center. Too bad the rink was under construction. Citibikes were right across the street and the electric bikes were awesome to use to get across town. The exercise room was decent but small. The laundry machines were out of order. They do offer filtered water stations in the hallways so you have no shortage of water there. DoorDash delivers here for the times you didn't feel like trekking out for a meal. I would definitely stay here again. read more

It's been almost a year that a manager at this hotel promised me a refund because their air conditioning was not working in my hotel room during the summer, she said it would take a while to receive a refund because I booked it through Expedia and have yet to receive one penny. This offer only came after I left a bad review, I got a call from her seconds after. Please be warned that the air conditioning in these rooms do not work and that managers do not stick to their words and they probably won't even offer a full refund for your suffering in their sauna of hotel rooms. Expedia is going to reach out to them & let's see if they follow through to their word. So disappointed in this hotel and their service. read more

I loved this hotel - until my last stay. I got a misleading upgrade offer from the hotel which ultimately costs me more than if I had booked the room directly on the hotel site. In addition, the air conditioning and wi-fi didn't work in the suite's larger bedroom, the carpet was in need of cleaning, and printers [for tickets and boarding passes- have been removed from the lounge. On site hotel staff were lovely but seemed stressed. As I tried to resolve my billing issues with the GM and the corporate office, I was repeatedly disconnected - and so was my helpful Capital One rep. Capital One copied me on the hotel's internal correspondence and the written exchange is pretty disrespectful to me, the guest, implying that I was trying to get over on the hotel. I have NEVER had a dispute w/ a hotel or any business like this, Having worked in hospitality for over 20 years, I'm taken aback by the hotel's discourteous attitude and unwillingness to compromise to come to a good resolution. This is my very first YELP review. It's always a red flag when employees seem unhappy themselves. Beware of 'upgrades" - get the actual GRAND total in writing before you accept and make sure it's a better deal than you could secure by starting fresh on the website. I'm looking for a new option in the Rockefeller Center area and will tell my friends to avoid The Jewell. read more

I ended up booking this place through Hotwire for a steal. If you're not familiar with how that works, basically you search for an area in town, a star rating, and cross your fingers for someplace good. Then you book without knowing where you'll end up until you've already paid. When the Jewel came up after submitting my credit card I immediately went to Yelp and checked it out and breathed a sigh of relief. The hotel is in a FANTASTIC location if you want to do the NYC tourist thing which we totally did. Right across the street from Rockafeller, down the street from Radio City, close to Times Square and Broadway. We saw a Broadway show every day we were in town and it was just a quick walk to each theatre (and the restaurants we made resos at as well). Also near a subway station if you want to head somewhere else. The room was pretty spacious for a NYC room. The hallways had me nervous since they're very narrow and tiny but our room was a pretty good size. Clean and comfortable as well. I slept like a baby in that king sized bed every night. Also came with a desk, a chair, a lounge chair, TV, radios/alarm clock, and more. Staff at the hotel was REALLY nice. Concierge was lovely. Each floor has a water station where you can get a reusable plastic water bottle to refill with purified water. A nice touch. read more

I was so happy as I booked the jewel one year ago, but what happened here is unbelievable. My girlfriend and me arrived one day later , because our flight was cancelled due to strong wind gusts in Amsterdam. I informed the hotel, no problem to ckeck in one day later. As we arrived, Lady at the reception informed us, because of the reservation previously its not possible to cancel the one day reservation, so we paid the Full Price , Even the missed breakfast nevertheless we went to our room located on the 3th floor, in a Thrill of anticipation because the Hotel is next to the rockafeller center and the Great Christmas tree!! But we're dissapointed again, the room located back yard so our view our of our window was beautiful seen ventilation System. Open the Windows No way, extremeley loud! Unfortunately It was very sticky and warm in there. Our AC was damaged. Back to the reception, no possibility to change the room. Second day I made an acquaintance with an cockroach in the bathroom. Breakfast was okay , but located in an another Hotel Hotel. Personal is unfriendly, not the guy he's cool. The real high price is because of the Location and not because of the Quality. I had the most incredible experience here!! The hotel is situated in the perfect spot. Blocks from Times Square! My boyfriend and I didn't even know this until we decided to take a walk to find pizza at the concierges recommendation we walked to Ray's pizza which was great! We got there late Saturday evening around 8pm and was able to pull up in the hotel unloading parking space. The other good thing about coming down when we was that we were able to park on the street for $11 and had free street parking all day on Sunday. The only time we had to utilize the hotel parking (which was $35 for 24 hours and no in and out) was on Monday. The hotel itself was perfect! It was small but they really did an amazing job at decorating and organizing the room that it didn't even feel small! We had a standard room with a king size bed. TV, alarm clock with iPhone plug in, kurig and anything else you could think you need. All in all I had a great experience and would definitely stay at this hotel and any of there other hotels again! read more

Wow what an awesome find! Landed a great deal here for memorial day weekend and I was so impressed with this place. For starters the employees that work here including the front desk, and housekeeping are all over the top friendly. They must have some training in good customer service or maybe they get paid a lot, who knows? But cheerful attitudes like theirs are a rarity in the city. The refillable water bottles were just so awesome and clever and appreciated. Our room was clean, comfy, the temp control was easy to work and the location here is perfect for getting basically anywhere you would want to go. a short walk from times square but far enough so you avoid the noise. subways and bus stops 1 block over...I would absolutely stay here again read more

I love the Jewel. I am afraid by posting my love that they will jack up the rates and it'll always be full! I never met a management person. Just the women (when I was there they were all women) who worked the front......um......computer. No front desk. No concierge etc. Didn't need anything more. Had a fridge, had a microwave. Had a bathroom and my room wasnt too small. Maybe I am used to European hotels so I cant complain. My room was quiet. The curtains were so good the room was BLACK in the AM and I overslept everyday! Awesome. Nice clock radio. Nice A/C climate control. The rest of the hotel was HOT and muggy but the room was fine. Housekeeping was great. I really have NO complaints. Free wi fi. King bed was 2 twins pushed together. I just slept on one side instead of the X I usually make in the middle. You are right at Rockefeller ctr so everything is expensive and the small lunch places are not open on the weekend. Still fine. Just know you are in a very touristy part. I had decent rates through hotels.com- cheaper than the Jewel site- and it was during Memorial Day week. So, busy time in NYC and room rates were 230-269$ which is really good. It's actually a LOT more once NYC finishes taxing your stay. Fresh water on every floor, gym(small and didnt use but its there), laundry. I used the car service they provide to get to JFK. Totally convenient and only 60$ without tip but including tax and tolls. The guy nearly killed me a few times and was on his cell on speaker the whole time and I worried for my life as he drove on the side of the freeway while planning his evening. But, aside from that, he was nice and I got there on time. read more
