I USED to consider this a really reasonable and good place for jewelry repair. Good work and fair pricing Stan was always straight forward, However, I took a ring in that's gold band had broke and a diamond chip was missing from dolphin eye needed replacing. I picked up the ring and it was too big. He informed me sizing costs extra. I think $150 for quick job with minimal labor is costly enough but to have a ring that is too big and spend another $85 for that... I refuse and WILL NOT be back!!! Disappointing!! read more

I went to this shop due to the awesome ratings I saw posted. In I went to see about getting a few things fixed and see about putting a stone in a setting. Stan seem to take an instant dislike for me, thought this might be my imagination, though when he removed the stone from my ring the prongs where wide open and they would have to be replaced as the metal would crack and break if bent back. I was distraught and he told me he could rebuild them for $375.00. I took it to my other jeweler and he was surprised at the way the prongs were left. I'm having him repair the prongs and the cost is much less. Professionalism starts at the door, if you take a dislike to someone try to work around it, we aren't in preschool after all. I've been here several times for different reasons and each time has been a great experience. They are honest and great at what they do. My most recent visit was to get a ring I got from Etsy sized. My husband bought my engagement ring from Stan at The Jewerly Stop! My husband had it made for me, and after I had it a few weeks there were 2 prongs that were very sharp and I knew something was wrong! I took it back a couple of times and they said nothing was wrong! Then after 10 months or so, all 4 prongs broke and lost the diamond! I was very sick to my stomach! Talked to Sketalls owner and he said go back and he should have a Unlimited warranty and replace the diamond! If he does not then he has insurance to replace diamond because all 4 prongs should not break and if they do that is manufactured defect and Stan should take care of the customer and replace it! Then when he put a CZ in for now, he charged me 200.00 which he should have not charged at all says the other jewelry owner cause a CZ cost 1.00! Stan says no he want replace it and I will never give him business again! Now I know where to go to do business and how Sketalls takes care of their customers! Stan is shady and not trustworthy! 10 years and 4 kids later, my wedding ring was pretty much fused to my finger. I mean I could get it off. Technically. With butter. And prayer. But, as my anniversary was approaching, I decided that I wanted to get it sized. Looked up jewelry repair in Charlotte and found this little store--The Jewelry Stop. I called and talked to the owner, Stan, to get an estimate for cost and a time frame. He does his repairs on Thursdays, so I was able to drop off my ring on Wednesday afternoon and pick it up on Thursday afternoon. Awesome turn-around time. He quoted me $54 to take it up a size. I drove over to Carmel and 51 and found the shop tucked in beside Rite-Aid. Stan remembered my name, every time, and measured my ring and my finger. Turns out I needed a size and a HALF so it ended up costing $74. Fair enough. Well. I go to pick my ring and OH. MY. WORD. It looks brand new. Not only did he size it with NO visible repair marks, he left the original engraving intact (thoughtful!), AND he re-rhodium plated it and cleaned the diamonds for no extra charge. (Just to have it re-plated would've been over $50 anywhere else.) I just could not be happier--we've found our new jeweler in Charlotte. Absolutely fantastic. read more
