I've been in town for a week and clearly, if you've seen my reviews, you know I be out here in these Columbia Streets, friends. But nothing could've prepared me for when i walked into this bad boy. MESMERIZED. Whoever did yalls interior decor? RAISE. Immediately! it's gorgeous in there, down to the bar top chairs. Literally a work of art - I'd go just for the ambiance. The servers were so personable and Nickie (bartender) is one of the greatest creations to this planet. Also the manager with the phenomenal winter jacket (you know who you are) that's giving 1990's realness, thank you for your service. I went for brunch and had some of the chargrilled oysters and the burger and woooooo child, it was fantastic! Had a special private event there a few weeks ago for a friend of mine. As it was a private event, the food was buffet style, with a small bar set up (full bar available in main area) Service was good, and the bartender in the event space was attentive and social, though for the first 30ish minutes, he was clambering around trying to get in his groove, and appearing to have to remember how to make many simple drinks. The appetizers were wonderful, smoked meatball, shrimp cocktail, what I believe was a crab dip ( what ever it was was incredible) The main course, left a little to be desired, prime rib was perfectly cooked and tender, but the chicken dish was bland and flavorless. Overall, I am looking forward to trying the main dining room on my next visit to Columbia! read more

We dropped down to the Burnline Speakeasy located below Smoked to get the evening started with some fantastic bourbon before dinner. That was a 5 star surprise. This was not the same Smoked I came to a year ago. Totally disappointed. The $180.00 Seafood Tower was a joke; there is no way a chef prepared this. I ordered the fish special; Walmart frozen battered fish would have been a better fish to serve. The hostess and manager were overwhelmed or they couldn't care. Our waitress was very pleasant. Sit on the patio for happy hour! They had beautiful jazz music playing and we got happy hour drinks. My boyfriend got a light beer, his sister a red wine, and her wife a cocktail. Our photo together proved they have a wide variety if you couldn't tell! I got the smoked old fashioned. The old fashioned had a 10/10 instagram worthy presentation with the smoked on top and tasted perfect, just the right amount of sweetness. Stopped by August 7th during First Thursday on Main. I was disappointed to be perfectly honest with you. Poor and slow service. The bread we ordered tasted exactly like those Hawaiian rolls from the supermarket but with plain flavorless whipped butter. At least they could have added a bit of honey to the butter. Smh. It took forever to get our food and the place wasn't packed. The waitress wasn't doing her job. We hardly saw her. As for the meal when we finally got it... Well it was ok. If you would swap the meats on each plate you will have a hit. The herb marinated half chicken would be slammin with the sides and wine reduction sauce that came along with the American Wagyu steak dinner and vice versa. The menu needs an upgraded. Went here for our anniversary over the summer and was quite disappointed. I wanted to try this place for a long time so we made diner reservations for our special day but when we arrived it was as if we were not expected and were seated in a very uncomfortable table by the front door,while a larger party arriving after us and without reservations was given more priority. Service was slow although they were not busy. The food was very much overpriced for the quality. Specifically wanted to try the chargrilled oysters, but they were tiny and unimpressive for something made with simple ingredients. It was clean inside though, even though we had to watch Main Street panhandlers through the window while we ate. Service was good. We had a special Valentine's menu which isn't my favorite thing but they still had good choices, thankfully. They had run out of the $165 rib eye/diver scallops for 2, so we got the filet mignon and diver scallops. $60 and $40 essentially. The steak needed more butter/fat and fewer red peppers.......but my scallops were delicious, albeit a little small and could've used more char. A bite of the cauliflower puree from my plate with the steak from his plate was divine. We also got the sea smoked dip and it was really good, but the tortilla chips were stale, unfortunately. Beer flight was a great deal and yummy. The cheesecake tasted like it came from the freezer at a grocery store, but it was edible. Just not what you'd expect for $$$. This place is amazing! The food and drinks were so good and my French 75 was probably the most delicious I've ever had. The Bolognese was cooked to perfection, and though I was expecting more meat, but I was not disappointed with the flavor. The crabcakes were all crab meat, not much filler, and the shaved brussels sprout salad was light and refreshing. Our server was very attentive, and his recommendation was a pork chop, which we did not get but both tables on either side of us did get it, and they raved about how good it was. we also tried the fish dip which was baked and creamy. It was so delicious that it was gone before I could even take a picture. You should definitely start with that app. This is a great place to go out for a date night or drinks with friends. Looks can be deceiving, all smoke and no fire. When you walk into the place, you think wow great place, highly stylized with great vibe. Our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. But we should have known when the cocktails arrived that we were in for a disaster. So pretentious and just awful. From cocktails to appetizers to main course everything was just trying too hard. We watched as another guest was getting table side service for a steak. A large wood plank , with a heated salt rock on which the chef placed some wagyu beef. It was painful to watch. Tip: When 2 out of 3 guests don't take more than a few bites of their meals you have a problem. Alarm bells should be going off in the kitchen. I attempted the catch of the day Snapper, over cooked , tough and side was pure salt. Wife attempted encrusted halibut. In short nothing good to say. My son had lamb ribs edible buy once again way over cooked. Tuna tartar this was actually good. Stick with ribs and beer you"ll survive. Ambiance and service was great. read more

The service was ok, our waitress was a bit awkward and not very friendly tho. Food was very overpriced for what it was. When the menu is limited I believe it is bc the restaurant has perfected those dishes. This was not the case. The duck was overcooked with the fat not being rendered enough giving it an unpleasant chewy texture while the meat itself was dry. The pasta with mussels was alright but more sweet than savory. The lobster arancini was very bland and needed more salt. For the price it is not worth it. If you want to swat flies while you try to eat your food... then you DEFINITELY want to eat at Smoked!!! We mentioned the issue to our server(Alyssa) twice and she did not offer to sit us in a different area of the restaurant. Didn't even mention it to the manager. Hubby killed a minimum of five while trying to eat his meal. He finally gave up and asked for it to be boxed up. We were sat by the tall windows facing Main Street...maybe that's the reason for the infestation of flies. The ambience is nice, however the entrees' lacked seasoning. I had to ask for salt and pepper for my steak and mashed potatoes. The filet was very tender... but could have used some seasoning. My husband's herb chicken and black beans lacked flavor too. We absolutely loved our dinner. The restaurant was beautiful and inviting. I fell in love with the decor instantly, I felt like I walked into a fancy restaurant from the 1920's yet modern. The service was good, a bit slow at first but Definitely picked up as the evening progressed. We started with appetizers which were delicious, of course our drinks were on point. I had heard mixed reviews about this place, but my husband blessed me with a night out so I decided to give it a try. I didn't have a reservation but it was not packed for a Saturday night. I decided to sit at the bar - which is full service. The hostess and the bartender were so sweet and welcoming. I started with one of their amazing cocktails (which change seasonally). I believe it was called "Smoke in the Garden". It was just amazing. The glass was rimmed with dehydrated strawberries and what tasted like a smoky tajin. They make all the elements of their cocktails in house - and you can really tell the difference. I have seen some comments like the food was "not on par" for the prices. I have to disagree. If you don't appreciate or understand fine dining or quality ingredients I can see how a lot of the menu can seem steep. I haven't seen many places in South Carolina that have Japanese Wagyu beef on the menu. However, if you're more of a Applebee's guy or gal, this spot might not be for you. It was a very tough choice, but I went with the Honey Garlic Sea Scallops. No words. The scallops were cooked absolutely perfectly and they were very fresh. The Brussels with pork belly lardons was probably the best side I have ever had. It was a perfect complement to the jumbo scallops. I was impressed with the portion size as well. Will definitely be coming back to sample some of their fall cocktails and let hubby experience one of those steaks! Beautiful ambience, fast and friendly service, amazing food. Went over the weekend and was disappointed with the menu changes. Smoked is one of our favorite places to go apps and drinks. Our bartender was less than thrilled for us to be there. We ordered our favs the seafood dip, pork belly burnt ends and tried the tuna tartare for the first time. The change from pita chips to large tortilla chips for the seafood dip was terrible. We were given four tortilla chips and charged when we requested more. The seafood dip was also overcooked to where the cheese was broken. Prices went up and portion/quality down. read more

Let me start by saying smoked is a pretty restaurant, beautiful inside. I was there last night for a friends birthday dinner celebration. We ordered the lemon Parmesan chargrilled oysters to start. They were pretty good, we ate them all. For dinner I ordered their $49 pistachio crusted halibut over risotto. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. My dinner looked like it died in the window, when it arrived it was luke warm almost on the cold side. The risotto was gross, it wasn't creamy at all, it was gummy and clumpy and had little to no flavor. Fish was cold and way over crusted. I will not go back to smoked ever again, for the price, you can have a much better dinner and experience at any other place in town. Hendrix that is right above them is 1000x better. read more

Smoked is a great addition to the fine dining options in downtown Columbia. It opened in November 2021. We just experienced our first dinner and can't wait to return. When you arrive, prepare to be wowed by the stunning décor. Smoked consists of three dining rooms, an outdoor patio and an even an oyster bar. The menu is heavy on seafood for the starters, with various meats starring in the entrees. The Sea Smoked Dip, made with crab, shrimp, oysters and creamy cheeses was a great starter. Bummed to learn their decadent Lobster Deviled Eggs are only served at Brunch. The Tuna Tartare and Steak Flight are at the top of our list for our next visit. For entrees, the Rockefeller Ravioli was delish, with smoked oysters and Romano cheese raviolis. What was surprising was paying $40 for five pieces of pasta. My wife ordered the wet-aged ribeye. It was perfectly prepared, super tender and flavorful. Another guest was impressed by the salmon, which was the fresh catch selection. Everyone at the table gave it thumbs up. The showstoppers were the sides. The Jalapeno Crab Creamed Corn was rich and yummy and the Crispy Brussels with Butternut Squash & Nuts was outstanding. Smoked has an outstanding craft cocktail menu. The Smoked Old Fashioned and Doctor's Order were both winners. The Chaotic Light was recommended by our server and looked beautiful when served. But when you get a glass full of ice, that doesn't leave much room for the drink. I'd take a pass on that option. read more

Nice restaurant! There were a few different areas to dine in. The front had a bar and some booths, seemed a little more casual compared to the rest of the restaurant. There was an area in the back with another bar and an area outside. The waiter was very attentive and gave good drink recommendations. We ordered a charcuterie board appetizer and for the entrees the swordfish and wagyu. Everything was delicious and the portions were fulfilling. Will definitely come back when the weather is nice enough to sit outside. I think they have a brunch! Will be checking that out soon! read more

I would recommend people to review their menu before making reservations, because their prices are based on high end value items such as oyster, halibut, aged steaks, etc. Everything we ate was fresh and delicious. The chefs use the best quality ingredients to produce dishes that are simply delightful. The restaurant also offers a wonderful drink menu, and they offer one of the best wines in the region. The drinks are pricey but surely worth sampling. This was definitely a fine dining experience and we truly enjoyed everything we ordered! We had high hopes for this establishment but were greatly disappointed. Our server was great. The atmosphere is amazing and it's basically 5 stars for that. That's where it stops. My $75 ribeye steak wasn't worth the price. It wasn't a thick cut of meat, flavor was average, and it didn't have a bone which would have made it more flavorful. I can and you can grill a better high quality cut of steak in your backyard than this high priced version. My girlfriend and her son's filet was over cooked and they sent it back. The potato's and asparagus that came with all of the meats was fine. The place is beautiful inside and out. The high priced food is very lacking and we will never come here again. Walking into this restaurant was definitely a different experience in Columbia. There was live music it was dimly lit and beautiful. I started off with the scallops which I have to say was amazing. I wasn't sure of all the ingredients on the plate but everything paired together nicely. This would be perfect as a larger entree option. I also had the lamb chops which I asked for it to be well done it was definitely charred maybe a little too much (it was huge btw) but the flavors came from mostly the Brussel sprouts.
