If I could give 100 stars for Dr. Colvin, the owner of The Joint on Telegraph in Berkeley, I would! This man is supremely knowledgeable and precise; most importantly he is FULL of compassion for his clients. My partner of 22 years was terminally ill and a longtime patient of Dr Colvin's. When my beloved partner became too weak to walk, Dr Colvin took it upon himself to come all the way to our house (after his long day at work, no less!) to adjust my partner in the comfort of our home. He came up with innovative ways to do this because as you can imagine, the positioning was tricky without his chiropractic table. My partner always experienced such relief after the adjustments! It was very touching for me to watch; my heart was completely overjoyed each time because my partner was in terrible pain. Every time he'd come over, it was as if an Angel was coming through the door. I cannot possibly thank this man enough, nor repay his kindnesses. What I also appreciate is the fact that there were one or two adjustments Dr. Colvin would not perform, either because it was contraindicated for his condition, or because he couldn't do it properly without his equipment. In other words, Dr. Colvin is very thoughtful, honest and strategic about what will be a success for your body. My partner studied Osteopathy, and not only performed adjustments as well, but innovated/ created / new ones .. he was a Master at adjusting the spine. He would NOT allow just anyone to adjust his body... I'm not being facetious when I say my partner scoured the earth to find a Chiropractor who truly knows how to adjust properly. Dr. Colvin was the one person he could trust and return to time and time again. I myself have been adjusted by Dr. Colvin after a great consultation where he pointed out things to me I hadn't known, and the adjustments he felt safe to perform were wonderful! I have been a patient of The Joint for some years now. Dr. Colvin, who owns and operates this establishment, is hands down the best chiropractor I have ever seen. I don't say this lightly - I am an orthopedic massage therapist myself, and have seen many chiropractors over the last 30 yrs. Dr. Colvin is a highly skillful adjuster - always quick and precise. I have never had a painful adjustment from Dr. Colvin and always feel better after seeing him. He has released restrictions in my neck and lower back that no other chiropractor has achieved. Other great things about Dr. Colvin: he has great boundaries, is friendly and professional, works quickly, and is very knowledgable; he enjoys educating his clients about spinal care. The office staff are also friendly and welcoming. Additionally, this is one of the best deals out there, whether you opt for a package or a membership. You don't have to schedule in advance, and usually it's a short wait. It's very unusual to be able to get same day care, when you really need it. Dr. Colvin insists on re-evaluating you if you haven't been in for several months, and this is for the protection of the client, to make sure you have not experienced a change in your condition. The McDonald's of Chiropractors ..Absolutely Dangerous I visited Dr. Laurent Covin at The Joint on July 31, 2025, and it was nothing short of a disaster. Instead of improving my neck pain, the adjustment left me in excruciating agony. I could barely move, sit up, or function for days. I had paid for a 2-month membership but could not continue after this experience. This place is like the McDonald's of chiropractors, rushed, impersonal, and completely careless. The adjustment caused real, lasting pain, and the staff showed little concern for the outcome. If you care about your body, DO NOT LET HIM TOUCH YOU! My experience was physically painful, mentally exhausting, and utterly unacceptable. I strongly advise anyone considering this office to run the other way. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOURE PREGNANT OR IF CARE ABOUT WOMEN BEING RESPECTED. I went in at almost 6 months pregnant (21 weeks and 4 days, 23 weeks is 6 months pregnant). I was instructed to lie face down for part of the adjustment despite chiropractic industry standards that suggest avoiding face down placement in women as early as 14 to 16 weeks pregnant . Although I was uncomfortable with this instructing and braced myself to protect my pregnant belly by crossing my arms underneath me, I didn't know the specifics of this until after I was adjusted. thankfully neither my baby nor I were harmed although this sort of treatment can cause pregnancy complications and lead to Miscarriage. After a little bit of research, I contacted the clinic to request cancellation of my membership due to their negligence in caring for me. Initially the owner of the clinic, Dr. Colvin apologized and stated that the adjusting chiropractor should not have put me face down post 20 weeks and agreed to partially refund the services. However, Dr. Colvin then followed up with a series of emails suggesting that I was not as pregnant (he said I didn't "look 6 months pregnant") as I claimed and lecturing me about advocating for myself in healthcare settings. He went on a long rant about how I should not get a C-section just because the doctor recommends this. i'm only posting this review because of his condescending and patronizing emails, as well as his failure to refund me. This constitutes medical negligence and extreme unprofessionalism. I will Never return to this location. some of the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF MY LIFE. grateful my baby wasn't harmed. It's frustrating when companies aren't transparent about policies, then give you attitude like you should've known. It was my third time visiting the location, visiting the same chiropractor. I got there 10 minutes before opening to be first in line because I had a tight schedule that day. It had been 3 months since I visited (which I call a win), but because of the time, their policy was to consider me a new customer. This is silly when it's my third time there with the same chiropractor, visiting for the same reason. Because I'm a "new" customer, I get sent to the back of the line, despite arriving first. (Not only is this probably a ploy to get people to become monthly subscribers, but it's based on the unsound logic that new customers take longer, and therefore have to wait longer than other customers.) When I mentioned this to the office staff, who happened to arrive late for work, she gave me attitude and then said the reason why I'm having to wait is because I'm not there as often. So, you penalize people who are improving, and while trying to recruit recurring members you simultaneously discourage people from joining with your poor customer service? read more

Normally, I only see Dr. Colvin, however, it was urgent today, so I came in and was seen by the male doctor on call on Sunday ( an African American gentleman). Believe me when I tell you that I know every kind of somatic modality and have been to many many chiropractors. This doctor was so ridiculously basic and did not take even one percent more interest in finding out about what my issue was or how it was caused. For the past 1.5 years I have been treated mostly by the owner, Dr. Colvin, who is compassionate, responsive to treating your main complaint, and willing to go above and beyond to get you relief! Unfortunately, I have had many car accidents over the last 2 decades, needing a lot of bodywork to recover from my injuries. Yesterday, I was able to be seen with Dr. Rayna and I have never been seen with a chiropractor before. She made me very comfortable throughout the entire interaction. The second time around, I brought my husband with me and we sat nearby the door and one of the chiropractors/the owner kept on throwing trash near my husband? The second time he threw trash towards him, he looked at him directly and said "Wow, I keep missing you." ? My husband respectfully went outside and did not want to even entertain something like that especially with what is going on in the world. I felt like we were kind of racially profiled at this place by the owner himself. I appreciate Dr. Rayna for everything, but looks like we are going to have to look for another Joint Chiropractor. Connecting to this place is one of my best decisions ever! I've been to other chiropractors in the last 35 years, and despite varying techniques, they each have been effective (admittedly, to varying degrees). The basic drawback has always been having the time/money to go more than once every so often. There are at least three very capable longstanding doctors (Walton, Kamerzell, and Colvin), they are open 7 days a week, available on a drop-in basis, until 7pm. For a very reasonable monthly retainer, I can get up to 4 times for free - so I do it! As soon as I knock my neck or back or knee out of alignment, even slightly, I go! This proactive approach, means I have very little ongoing discomfort: YAY! read more

I was happy with the Chiropractor who treated me for 4 sessions in 2 month period which was the agreement I signed on for to get the introductory first session at $29. Receptionist explained the benefits of agreeing to this 2 month membership, etc. What she didnt mention was that, by signing all the paperwork of the membership, they could continue charging my card 89/mo beyond the 2 months. They did this for 3 additional months before I caught it and then refused to refund it. They said unless I actively had provided the cancellation document they would continue charging me. read more

Quick in and out. No fuss, no muss. All magic. This location opens later than my usual spot on Saturdays. Once I checked in, I waited for a few minutes then they had me lay face down per usual. My back has been pretty tight lately and it wouldn't crack the last time I went 2 days prior. Also didn't help that the last doc didn't wait til I exhaled before pushing down or shoving me around. The doc today was great. Didn't catch his name but he was efficient. He inquired about my pain level and how I was feeling before we began. Body cracked beautifully and I felt the instant relief. The past couple of times I've come in I've had bad experiences with the front desk people. Which is a shame considering I've liked the chiropractors that have worked on me. The first front person was pushy and despite me politely saying "no" was aggressively trying to sell me a monthly package. The second one was incompetent. My partner and I came in at 135pm and were told to fill out forms since we had not visited for a while, but then at 140pm we were told to come back at 3pm because they were going on a break at 2pm. Huh? But it was 140pm and why would we come in just to fill out forms and then leave? That doesn't make any sense. The front desk person could have told us they were closing soon and to come back at 3pm or get adjusted first and fill out paperwork after. Not my partner and I have been in the service industry for many years and we know there are many ways to accommodate in a situation like that. The lack of better customer service ruined it for us. Superb! Went in with big doubts, little hope, a migraine and extreme 10 scale pain. I could barely walk the few blocks from my home to The Joint. Short wait, fantastic front desk staff. Dr. Laurent adjusted me and unbelievably the pain, headache was gone. This doctor knows what he is doing. I was a huge sceptic, went to a few Chiropractors in the past, it's been close to 10 years, went here as last minute last resort and am so thank full that I did.
