If things are not straightforward and right on track, like in my case, you end up getting a flat "there's no heartbeat" and nothing else from At First Glance (and will likely spend the rest of the day in the ER to get answers). I know the staff here are not trained doctors or diagnosticians, but I would have at least expected some compassion or sympathy when delivering less than ideal results, but we received none of that. I actually think it's irresponsible that they even offer their services as an option if you haven't had a first ultrasound already with a doctor or midwife. I went to this clinic for a women's Pap smear exam. Not having insurance, I called several clinics…read morefor pricing prior to scheduling. FPA provided me the cost over the phone, at which point I scheduled. I paid in full at my appointment, only to receive a bill a few weeks later for over $200 for lab tests- a fee that was never mentioned over the phone or in person. Had I known this charge, I might have went elsewhere for my appointment. I called the FPA clinic for help and have had multiple employees say they would help, and then have no follow up and changing stories with each employee I talk to. As a patient, they failed to disclose all fees and then failed to resolve the issue- mentioning responses such as "that team member who told you they resolved the issue was fired recently". Horrible care - I will be reporting the clinic and do not recommend anyone coming to this clinic. For the patients who come here and do not know how to advocate for themselves, they would unfairly be out hundreds of dollars.

I told him five times that my leg was paralyzed and not once did he acknowledge that I had spoken. What planet is this man from? When someone has a disability, ESPECIALLY in healthcare, you say you're sorry to hear that, and ask how you can help them. At one point, I couldn't get my leg into the position needed, (because it's paralyzed) and he actually YELLED AT ME!!! I haven't been screamed at like that in years. It was appalling. I was shaking all over. I reported the incident to the young gal at the X-ray desk, who was very nice, and she was shocked. The three people in the waiting room were all men and they were scandalized to hear that a disabled lady with paralysis had been yelled at. The nice desk girl gave me his supervisor's name: Jean Mufty. I called her and at first she defended him, saying he had a hearing problem. I said this was nothing to do with hearing loss. Then, she switched tacks and apologized. But she never once asked for my phone number so she didn't care enough to report back to me. In fact she she kept saying that he wasn't normally at this location as though that made a difference! As a disabled person, I am APPALLED that Alta Bates/Summit would employ such a man. What if I had depression or was fighting cancer? His yelling at me might have put me over the edge! HOW can a healthcare company employ such a person and HOW can he be allowed to talk to a disabled patient this way? Personally, I have been waiting to see if technology would invent a machine that was less like going into a torture chamber. When my primary doctor said, it's time to get your mammogram, I heard, "it's time to go laydown on a bed of nails." Determined to find another way, I searched for an alternative and came across breast ultrasound company Eve Wellness, made my appointment and actually show up. My experience from the moment I entered the office to the time I left was top notch service. The exam room was crisp and clean. The robe lay neatly (as if from the cleaners) on the exam table, I undressed from the waist up and put on the robe, IT WAS WARM! OMG! The slippers were at the end of the exam table, but you can keep your own shoes on if you want. I didn't risk it, if I had put on WARM slippers, I may have spent the night. The tech applied the gel, and explained every step as I lay on the exam table. The arm of the machine (not sure what to call it) did apply some pressure to get the ultasound but very gently. I understand this does not replace the traditional mammagram, especially if you are a high risk for cancer. The Breast Ultrasound is a supplemental to the Mammagram. But for me, I'll wait for technology to catch up and get my breast exam every year with the ultrasound. Discuss all the options with your doctor and do your research, as women we need to be our own advocates regarding our healthcare.

I arrived about an hour early, hoping I could be seen sooner if they had availability. The technician explained that another client was ahead of me but running late. I offered to wait or return later, but she assured me it would be fine and that the appointment would be quick. Very-quick. It was Olympic speed quick! It's pricey, and the appointment felt very rushed with little explanation. The ABUS machine involved intense pressure--especially on the nipple area--and was far more painful than expected. Imagine getting them sliced slowly. I'm not sure if this is standard for the machine or the technician's technique. I got home and my nipples feel like they breastfed a small village. The experience didn't match the calm and painless vibe shown online, and I won't be returning. No need to contact me. The experience was too traumatic enough that I'm not interested in explanations or excuses--this review is simply to inform others.
