First off I love Isla Mujeres and this place just adds to the vibe. When we arrived they had a band playing some good singalong music. Got a table for 6 outdoors so we could enjoy the beautiful October weather. Service was amazing. My friends let them know it was my birthday and of course in Mexico that comes with free tequila shots. Yay! The drinks were amazing and they really hit, but the star of this place was the ceviche and fish tacos...literally some of the best fish tacos I have ever had and an abundance of fresh, flavorful ceviche. We found this cool gem while we were visiting Isla Mujeres. It has a Jamaican theme and is known for their frozen drinks. It's on the south end and is accessible by car or golf cart. The outdoor patio is decorated with colorful, fun and Rasta themes that give off good vibes and love for all. The drinks were huge, strong and tasty. They also had food but we didn't eat here this time. Make sure to bring enough cash as they don't take cards. read more

This place was a lot of fun, but I recommend going when it's light out to avoid the mosquitos! The bugs ate us alive!! The staff tried to help by providing bug spray and burning some cardboard to quell the bugs, but it didn't make much of a difference. The restaurant is situated in the trees and it's beautiful but not for those with sweet blood! We started with an order of plantains. They were underwhelming - not much flavor. Kids loved the smoothies and pepperoni pizza. Mexican burger, burrito and tacos were tasty. The bill was considerably more expensive than other places around - but the location to our house and generous portions made up for it. Just don't forget your big spray!! read more

My husband and I both loved this spot. Super chill and a great atmosphere. The drinks are fantastic, especially their Frozen mojito which they are known for. This is a definitely a spot to stop by have some drinks listen to some music from the live band and see the beautiful blue ocean. I did not eat there but the nachos looked good from the table next to us. The staff were also cool. We would definitely recommend this spot and we will definitely be back next time we visit Cancun! Came here due to the live music always playing when we go by. The bar is very cool and always live music and/or music playing. Definitely come here for the drinks and atmosphere. The food on the other hand sucks. Typical bar food. Chicken wings are nothing special, Cesar salad sucked and the nachos are just blah. The jerk chicken tacos are far from traditional jerk chicken. Just adding jerk spice doesn't cut it. Come for the Bar not the food!!! Now the smoothies are excellent. Cold and fresh made. Parking is on the street and they have a perking lot across the street as well. This is a good drinking bar to hang out and listen to music. The Joint was an experience...not in a good way. Seemed okay at first but we were the only people there during dinner which was the first red flag. The server was indifferent to serving drinks from the bar which was the second red flag. The bar had a couple patrons seated but the drinks came out after a long wait and after we ordered food. After the food arrived the restaurant lost electricity. There was some discussion amongst the staff about whether the electric bill was paid. Being familiar with Isla Mujeres it is uncommon to lose electricity but it happens frequently. Enough that the restaurant should have a generator or at least a plan to deal with the situation. The band packed up immediately and left. The staff's priority was stowing merchandise and closing the restaurant which left us on our own to eat by cellphones. Also the mosquitoes moved in as that area is fairly swampy. The Joint does have some insect repellent by the bar and you will need it. I think that the owner may have been on site as there was an extremely drunk guy who sometimes went from sitting at the bar to doing things behind the bar. The staff gave him a very wide breadth and shunned interaction. At one point he approached our table and invited us to sign up for the sunset cruise, which he claimed was the best cruise ever, and that the best part was that he would be hosting it! I think that The Joint is catering to people who are lit and don't care about anything other than being lit. read more

Real yard style jerk isn't a wet sauce. It's more of a dry, flavorful rub. I suggest they get a West Indian/Jamaican cook to make official jerk. For the rest... cash only and biggest surprise is Isla restaurants have gotten crazy expensive. If you are looking for beach vibe with inexpensive drinks and food you will have to find another vacation spot. We had two entrees (3 fish tacos, 3 enchiladas and no sides come with entrees), quac, one coke, one mojito and it was $60 before tip. The States is a better bargain than Isla. read more

The Joint is another lively neighborhood bar on Isla Mujeres that offers a laid back crowd, live music, frozen drinks, full bar, food... The band on this particular night was more Rock and 80s than reggae, as the bar name suggest. We ended up meeting a local who was performing a few songs that night with the band and who also owned his own restaurant on the island. He shared with us some local info... Good times. read more
