WOW!! We loved this restaurant! My husband doesn't usually like fish but loved loved loved this typical fish dish from the island. Highly recommend!! Also it's so beautiful to sit and eat on the water. The fish can take 45 mins to cook FYI! Our waiter Santiago was so nice!

Seafood platter , so fresh and delicious

This place is definitely a hidden gem, like literally the only reason I found it was because a local gave me a tip. This place sits right on the edge of the water with a beautiful view. The food was phenomenal and fresh. Our service was great and the restaurant was super clean. From the beginning to the end our experience was exceptional. I highly recommend you rent yourself a golf cart and take the ride down to playa Lancheros. If I ever find myself on isla mujeres again I will definitely make it a point to stop here every time to have a delicious meal with a beautiful view.

Guacamole and beverages!

I had never tried the fish cooked in the local Yucatán style called TikinXic. It was awesome! Maybe even the best I've ever had. Tomato's, peppers, chili and orange flavors all chargrilled to perfection. Rice was delicious too. Also ordered margaritas and guacamole. Fabulous! Loved the open air setting and the beach view. Good parking.

you don't get this restaurant like this right on beach everyday.. Awesome lunch at amazing location... we have read reviews about tikinxic fish and how great it was in taste and not to add an awesome view of the beach with pier. I guess Playa Lancheros is the place name as we had lunch in La Casa del TikinXik restaurant. but every review goes by Playa Lancheros so doing the same :P we got the beachside table, it was bit empty, I guess every restaurant along the shore, offers the same view and same tikin xic fish. let me tell you before if you want to order which you should, order ll take 1 hr at least as they ll start cooking after the order. in this restaurant, you can see kitchen (especially for tikin xic fish) nearby parking area. also, they don't serve you nachos free like other Mexican restaurant. they charged us 80 pesos for this when we asked why did not we get nachos. our fish came, it was really good, but it was more than enough for 2 people. 3-4 folks can have whole fish. The fish order goes by per KG. and guesses what it was not expensive. 300 pesos for 1 kg Tikinxic Trad coro, and some other fish 300+ pesos. tikin xic is the preparation, not fish name. Tikin Xic, pronounced "teekeen sheek" in Yucatec Mayan and meaning "dry fish", is a fish dish prepared in the Meso-American style. The fish is prepared whole then marinated with adobo de Achiote and sour oranges then wrapped in a banana leaf and cooked in an earth oven beneath a wood fire in the side dish, rice-lettuce was there with beans and tortillas. the green sauce which was nothing but green chili sauce. mind it, it's very hot but good in taste ;) Waiter seems to very busy. Apart from fish, we ordered Mango Margarita, SOL beer, salsa Mexican. all Mexican restaurant serves their main items with tortillas (bucket of small tortillas) and sauce (green-salsa). you make taco and eat. it's the Mexican thing. Also, they don't serve water in the restaurant. I have read in blogs that one should be very careful with drinking water, but why restaurants don't serve drinking water, not sure. They had added gratuity in the bill. upon asking, you can change the % of tip. 20% is by default added. I have asked for the fresh bill and added 10% to it. one yacht came and all people got off and headed to another restaurant, seems they were under a part of some tour package. This Restaurant had swings and I enjoyed it while waiting for fish, you can also have some fun in the water. water was clear and the reef was not there. we walked on the beach with the drink, took photos, enjoyed swings. What an unforgettable experience with the awesome amazing view. ( See my pictures). Definitely recommended :)

Awesome! Friendly staff, good food, and the clearest water we've found on a beach yet. Amazing for kids cause as far as you can walk (? A long way?) is super shallow. Deep enough to play but to an adults hips at the very most. The staff was great and so was the food but the beach is the winner. Mind you - before you go- it's not really close to the center of everything, but the taxi was only about $5 usd. Oh, and clean bathrooms, and an outdoor shower. The restaurant is also HUGE so no worries about getting a spot. Decent prices, too.

Playa Lancheros is a beautiful, peaceful beach on the western side of Isla Mujeres. The lovely, quiet restaurant here is the perfect place for a leisurely meal. My group ordered the Tikin-Xic, the specialty fish dish of the area, and though it took 45 minutes to prepare, it did not disappoint! The huge fish was butterflied and covered in a red spice rub/marinade that was spicy and salty, and the whole package was grilled and served over banana leaves, along with rice, salad, and tortillas on the side. The fish was so tasty and came with a great habanero sauce, though I did find parts of the marinade a little too salty.

We found this restaurant as we were driving past as it was a little off the beaten path. We looked at the menu and the prices were decent so we decided to sit down especially since there was live music and it was right off the beach. The food was amazing! I ordered the garlic buttered lobster and was told that it was $150 pesos so how could I pass that up! My fiancée ordered the squid, my friends ordered octopus, tacos, and chicken fingers. Seriously everything was quite delicious. Very authentic and seasoned perfectly. I also ordered the coco loco, which was fresh coconut mixed with vodka. Whew it was STRONG! I had to water it down just so I could drink it. The reason for the 2 star review irregardless of the food is the service after receiving the bill. They were quite shady because my meal that the server said was $150 pesos ended up being $450 pesos (she didn't mention it was $150 pesos per pound, my mistake I suppose). That's not even the shady part, they exchanged USD to pesos at a rate of $12 pesos for every USD when the exchange rate at that time was about $17 pesos per USD. So since we didn't have pesos, we asked to pay in card but she said they didn't accept card when it clearly stated on their menu that they did. Instead we had to pay in USD and were ripped off an extra $20. We were extremely pissed, so be forewarned that this restaurant will take advantage of tourists.

Great guac and chorizo fundido

One of our favorite spots we stopped, and actually went twice when we brought the rest of our group! The Tixin Xic fish is AMAZING and we loved sitting on the beach under the palm trees enjoying the day. It does take approximately 45 minutes to prepare, so don't go in a hurry. We also had the chorizo fundido and shrimp cocktail. The chorizo fundido was great and the shrimp cocktail was tasty even though the shrimp were small. They have a nice little beach, but it seems to be eroding a bit and sand bags are protruding through at the water line. The water seems pretty calm in this area and was easy to sit and relax for a cool down when needed. My husband enjoyed a nice nap under the shade of the palms, and they let you enjoy their beach with a purchase. So if you are looking for a nice area without the crowds of Playa Norte beaches and a great lunch that doesn't charge a fee...this is the place! Took a walk down the beach and there are also several beach clubs that tour boats bring Cancun tours to on either side. They drop off on the pier at Launcheros, but it didnt seem intrusive to us. The beach clubs charge a fee and if you have kids who want to use paddle boards/kayaks/slides into the water you can pay an all day fee that includes facilities and buffetts (they didn't look as good as the food at Launcheros). Everyone was offering discounts for their day passes when we were there, so don't be afraid to bargain with them during the off season...most were offering half price! Great service and good Mai Tai's

michele a.

AMAZING ceviche! And specialty fish called tikinxic.. The view is incredible. There is a full service bar with swings. Ask for Sylvia. She is such a kind and attentive server!

Playa Lancheros is a beach club (open to the public) / restaurant / bar along the ocean. We popped in a for a few beers and made our way to some free (dirty) hammocks on the beach. Out on the pier you can swim with sharks (not interested). There was lots of seaweed along the sand but it is fine for what is is - a cheap place to grab some beers and watch the sea.

The beach was nice but a lot of rotting grass. None of this is factoring into my rating. I walked out into the water of Capitan Dulche's cove to cool down and the dogs on the neighboring property ran down to the beach, jumped into the water, swam out and started attacking me before I could even attempt to get away. I have bite wounds on my left arm, neck, upper, and lower back. They only stopped biting me, because I grabbed one by the throat until it yelped. Which scared them away. These were large black lab type dogs. They would have killed a child. I had to pay a doctor to come treat my wounds. The staff there offer my friends an old first aid kit, but otherwise offered no apology, and still charged us for our drinks. A woman patron approached us and said they almost attacked her on a paddle board the day prior. She also informed us she lives on the island and she is aware that this has happened before. There are no warning signs, no security measures in place between the properties. These dogs will kill someone it is just a matter of time. Definitely do not go to this place. FYI I was here only maybe an hour before the attack. I was sober, and I was not being loud or doing anything that would cause a dog attack.

The drinks were reasonably priced as well as the food. Our host was attentive and very polite. The beach ambiance was great; clean and free of clutter. Forgive me, but I must have missed something. One of the ads says "in this luxurious Beach club…read morefeatures infinity pools." This beach club is almost everything one would want to avoid in a beach club. + Filthy dressing rooms with smelly standing water underneath open slats of wood. + No locker service, but torn apart locker ruins containing people's personal belongings. + Two small, old swimming pools filled with drunks carrying glass bottles and wine glasses. Twice I watched a drunk drop a beer bottle and have it bounce on the cement. What happens when someone smashes a glass? Do they close the whole facility and drain the pool? + Tiny, postage stamp Beach area. Normally one would appreciate a location away from the city center, but this location is so far from the city center the only way to get here is 2 rent a vehicle or pay for a taxi. Based on the description in all of the ads, I expected something similar to services typical of at least a two-star hotel. maybe I came in with way too high expectations. I traveled to Isla mujeres from my beautiful hotel with its four glimmering pools, one of which was an actual infinity pool. Do not travel more than 15 minutes from your place of residence to get here or you will be disappointed. The food. The food was tasty and the food service met expectations. That's the reason for two stars rather than one. I had the Yucatan ceviche and the fried calamari with a side order of french fries. The ceviche was plentiful and tasted good. The fried calamari portion was tiny and was a bit squishy. The french fries tasted bland and we're stale.

For the bed it's $500 MX pesos and every person in the party must pay at least $500 MX pesos in food and refreshments~ Towards the end, I am not sure if it was my friends lack of knowledge towards counting pesos or the waiter (who was different and gave us our check), but we had some miscommunication on tip amount, with different stories. I don't fault this on anyone. We were a large group, we paid in pesos, and the server who gave us our check was a different person. I think the first person who attended us and had a more accommodating and chill personality was absolutely great! This place only takes cash! Pesos or dollars~~ I recommend this place for mid week beach days, as a person who likes to have a chill day with cool vibes and good service! I was told of the usual weekend events, making the weekends seem like a good stop for a party/more extrovert atmosphere if that's your vibe for a weekend. Enjoyable! Thank for Green Demon!

Missing items we requested and having to ask a few times. The place looks nice and open with two levels. They are supposedly a "market" but it's a restaurant and a pier stop. People with their boast can come in. They have showers as well. We order the grouper (fish) and 1 dozen of oysters on the half shell. The fish came with the choice of rice, pasta or steamed vegetables. We decided to do the whole fish and get one filet out. I'm originally from an island so eating a whole fish is normal so I wanted to experience it again because back home where we live we don't have it. The fish was ok. It needed more flavor. Rice was hard and cold and not really tasty. The oysters were harder than usual. We ordered two of their Marbella sunrise (drinks) and they were good. Overall the food was NOT good or fresh. It made me sick! I got food poisoning. At the end of our trip in the island I got so sick I was puking on the beach and then walking the streets like a drunk person puking my guts out and not even with a buzz?! No thanks! My final advice?
