Murfreesboro used be an easy navigable town, not no more, so many people. So off we went. Heading out towards Chapel Hill we came up the Fried Tater Cafe. After yesterday (if your following) I needed something authentic to the area and this looked the part. We both agreed to stop. Walked inside and I knew right away this going to be great. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere. Nice. Found a booth against the wall and were given menus and drink orders taken. Drinks came while still viewing the menu. I almost wanted a burger but chose the patty melt with coleslaw. I was going to have fries but they have those Checkers type fries. My wife had the BLT with Tots and after having a couple of her tots I should of had the tots. My wife even agrees, these are the best tots she has ever had and she has tots when ever offered. These had the crispy outside that you can bite into without crushing and fluffy innerds mmmmm. But getting back to my patty melt. The menu said it came with thousand island dressing. I would usually hold the TI, but now I'm in a phase where I order with no substitutions. So I took it with the Thousand island. And so glad I did, it did something to it. Don't know if everyone does this but wow. And the slaw was good too, though I wish I had gotten the tots, next time tots. The Tater Tornado gives you the best of both worlds...potato chips and french fries and they are really good. I sprinkled a little salt on em, dipped in ranch dressing, they are addicting!!! This steak sandwich is solid! The steak had some nice grill char, great flavor, and is very tender. The veggies caramelized while the smoked gouda cheese is a really nice touch. Even the "side" of cole slaw was very good, fresh, and crunchy. While I was eating Megan brought some fried pies to a table and they smelled incredible. So I ordered a blueberry one to go and suffered in my SUV the whole way home smelling it. These pies alone are worth the drive out here...absolutely delicious! Well our waitress had asked the owner AJ and after a few minutes he came out and what he said surprised me. He had called the former owner and asked if anything they sold had sunflower in it and had even called the manufacturer of the buns and his distributer to see if there was anything that had potentially used any sunflower products but he hadn't heard back from them as of yet. AJ went above and beyond to check on an allergy. That means a lot to those of us that have allergies. So I feel like they should be considered allergy friendly.
