This is my second review and I'm happy to say the service and food has gone up in stars since 2014…read more The wait staff was efficient, knowledgeable, and friendly. They will adjust any dish according to your diet restrictions. I had the salmon tacos prepared naked for me. The salmon was crusty on the outside and still moist on the inside, with plenty of the fish in the soft tacos. The Pico was homemade, the salsa also, both definitely NOT out of a jar. The avocado dip was plentiful and fresh. The chips were house-made, and with just a touch of salt, every one was crisp and firm enough to hold the avocado dip. My spouse's garlic shrimp in creamy butter sauce was not overly garlicky per him, with plentiful tender shrimp. The petite roasted yellow potatoes were just a touch crusty, not overly seasoned, and creamy inside. The side of in-season veggies was not overcooked. The side salad had various types of lettuce (no iceberg) with their house dressing. We shared the apple pie with a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and a drizzle of caramel sauce. The slice was huge, big enough for two to share. The ice cream was a quality vanilla ice cream and house-made whipped cream. The pie crust was flaky, and the apples were firm, not mushy. The atmosphere is casual, rustic, and reminds me of the old ski lodges in VT 50 years ago.

The bar area was very busy so we opted to sit in the dining room. Our table's top was different from others in the room and was quite sticky - ugh. Service was good with our waitress quite engaging. We each ordered a bowl of chili that proved to be satisfying both in terms of size and flavor. Overall menu prices are relatively high though I was bit taken aback after noting our sodas cost $3.95 each with no refills offered.

My wife, and the reason I am posting this, says the Seltzer is even better then our regular spot. If you knew my wife, you would probably fall out of your chair reading this. First off, when you find the menu online, there is many items that are not currently on the menu. I know they had some staffing issues recently and I'm sure that's why they are running a limited menu, but that should definitely be updated online so guests know that before they come. I also was really looking forward to trying some of their beer, only to find that the only surfridge product available was a seltzer. This was a huge disappointment. To go to a brewery and not be able to drink their beer is pretty ridiculous. Maybe a social media post on instagram to let people know you're not serving your own beer right now? Would have been pretty helpful. When I asked the bartender if that's all the beers available he said " we're going with a microbrewery approach right now". Not really a microbrewery approach if there's one house made beverage and it's not even a beer. That's just a restaurant at that point. The pizzas were good as always, just really long wait in between. We were sitting with two other friends who ordered separately but still at the same time as us, and in between all the pizzas there were super long wait times. One pizza, than 25 minutes later one for the other check, than a half hour later, the other one for them, and then a good amount of time later the last one for us. We didn't even really want it at that point. The whole flow of the way the food came out was just really weird. I'm a chef of almost 15 years in the industry, I'm in no way giving up on this place, as I really like it here. I just think there's some very questionable decisions on the way it's currently being ran. Thanks.

We did have a special buffalo chicken taco, which was fabulous!! It was our first time at Sayulita since giving up alcohol, and I was definitely missing their margaritas. I had a grapefruit Mexican soda, but next time I'll ask if they can make me a yummy mocktail. The restaurant is about double the size of the Glastonbury location, so check it out if you want the best tacos without the long wait!!

Man were WE pleasantly surprised!! Outside it doesn't have a standout look. Just a darkly painted house with a decent size parking lot. But once you step inside it actually catches you off guard a little! Modern decor, beautifully tiled floors, bright and fresh! We were seated quickly and everything on the menu said "order me!" I got an unsweetened tea that was brewed just right and fresh. I hate skunky tea! We ordered the birria quesadilla to share, my coworker wasn't familiar. One bite and he was HOOKED. The meat was soo flavorful and tender and the SAUCE! Rich, bursting with flavor. I ordered several of the tacos: the scallop, seared tuna, pork carnitas and the Baja fish. Again, flavortown! Fresh, citrusy, creamy, cooked just right and a hint of heat on all of them. My coworker got the beef bbq burrito. Man that thing was stuffed with a crispy shell. Full of meat, rice and beans. He got the red chile sauce on the side but after the birria he just used that b/c he couldn't get enough of it! I thought this place was phenomenal and I've been telling everybody to go!
