We have only positive experiences with our 18 pound Goldendoodle. She gets excited when we turn the corner because she knows where's she's going. My puppy comes home tired and is very excited to go here, James being a wonderful owner and a dog lover. Sometimes there are rare events when dogs get together that don't end well. This has happened to us as well and James was very accommodating to help our Bristol heal. We try to keep in mind James and his family are small business owners and not able to financially assist when dogs get injured since there is no insurance for dogs, unless you get your own policy which is possible. With that I also want to to note... We always have a great experience here and so does our Bristol. When we ask her if she wants to see her friends her ears perk up and she gets very excited. She always has a great time and is plenty tired when she gets home. James, the owner, treats our "kids" as his own and really cares. He is always very friendly and courteous. We only think of James and K9 Kabana for our Bristol. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. Unfortunately the temperament evaluations here are 'loose' to say the least. My dog is not aggressive by any means, went to play with two dogs waiting for food and was attacked. FOOD AGGRESSION MUCH? Why are dogs like this in daycare and being fed around other dogs??? My dogs vet bills are $700 already and all they are offering me is a $10 credit for half a day of daycare. Their reasoning - he had already spent half a day at daycare the day he was attacked so I am only entitled to half a day credit. On top of all of this - the owner shows ZERO compassion. He in fact blames my dog for the incident. This is the third and most serious incident we have experienced here. I will NEVER take my dog back here, and as a responsible pet owner will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. read more

my friend works here and the owner of the business is very rude and curses at the workers and does under the counter payment in cash she got but but a dog which cost her 2 weeks in college work and 2 weeks out of her job and James the owner won't give her worker's compensation and is rude about the fact that she got bitten because they are understaffed and should no longer be in business James is rarely to never at the location while opened and is unfit to work with people and animals read more

We have a border collie. And she needs exercise. So we were thrilled when the K9 Cabana opened their doors in Garner (note: they moved from Maywood a few months ago). My husband talked to James, the owner, about our over-excited, anxious, semi-trained lovable puppy. He was encouraging, reassuring, and calm. The first few visits were rough but he was patient and super sweet. He talked to her in soothing tones, tossed her treats, and was more than willing to help us with her separation anxiety. I'm pleased to report that our dog is absolutely in love with K9 Cabana and has no signs of the former anxiety afflictions. We've been taking her once a week for about 3 months. But she loves it so much, we might have to increase to twice a week! All we have to say "you wanna play with the puppies?" and she bolts to the door about ready to jump out of her sweet doggy skin! When we drop her off, she doesn't even give us a second glance. She's ready to bolt into the room and play! The pricing for day visits is reasonable... $25 or a pass of 10 for $200. The location is a large warehouse with a fenced in outdoor area. They are working on installing the webcams and still getting some of their fun murals finished. Overall, the K9 Cabana has been a godsend for our little bundle of energy that needs to run with the doggies. Great place, perfect location! read more

If you are looking for a comfortable personalized experience for your dog this isn't the place. Unfortunately it was the worst experience we've had with a kennel. There were atleast 35 or more dogs in one large area large and small dogs mixed. Since my dog was anxious around so many dogs he was seperated and kept in the cage for what must've been the entire time. We were told he was taken on walks but I'm not sure. He was filthy. Feces and urine all over his paws and legs. We had to immediately take him to vet because his bottom looked raw and infected. Likely from sitting and waging his tail on the concrete floor for days. $120 vet bill plus $30 for grooming on top of the $200 fee for boarding. It was so sad. Will never go back again. I don't like to post negative reviews for minor issues but this was horrible. No excuse for a place that calls themselves a vacation spot for dogs. read more

My Girl loves K9 Kabana. She gets so excited as she has learned the days she gets to go visit all her fur friends. During the time she has been attending the care center, her personality has blossomed. She is mature, being an older GS girl but she truly enjoys her time with lots of playmates. At the end of the day she is calm, a little tired but content. We are very glad we decided to enroll with the K9 Kabana team. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. This place is a complete mess. They are always short-staffed. The owner is incredibly rude. I really wanted to like this place, since it is close to my job. The first time that I dropped my dog off, there was only one girl taking care of 20 dogs. Poor thing. My dog was a disgusting mess once I picked him up. I cannot believe that this business is still running. It is so unprofessional. I gave them another chance. When I got back, I saw a bite on my dog's ear and he had a bloody scab. No one even bothered to clean the wound. The owner didn't even say anything about it until I pointed it out. I am never going back to this place again, and if you care about your dog, you should do the same. read more

My chocolate lab koko has been going here for about 4 years....she loves it......James the owner is outstanding and the staff is as well.......koko starts barking with excitement when we turn down the street the camp is located on......when she comes home....shes tired from all the running and playing. .....give this place a try....im sure your dog will love it.....take care...we live in Raleigh NC. By far the worst experience. Our dog was mauled by the owners dog while there. Over $3500 in hospital and surgery. Refused to help with any cost. Have given him ample opportunity to reimburse us. Never even called to check on our baby. read more

I love the K9 Kabana! The facility is very spacious...I have a large dog and there is plenty of room for him to roam and play, and it is always clean. The staff is awesome, the owner, James is the nicest guy, very down to earth and friendly. This is the only facility I will use for my "Harley"! read more

The owner, James, is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable leaving your furry family member with him. Unfortunately, when I dropped my dog off, the employee that was there didn't hear me come in and after waiting 15 min I had to walk around the building to find her. Furthermore, she never asked for my dog's proof of vaccinations (I would want to ensure all the other dogs there were up to date!). She said she was new, but I definitely did not feel comfortable leaving my dog with her. I called the next morning to speak with James and make sure all the information had been passed along about my pup. The building itself isn't exactly a "pet resort," but more of a garage with fans. I do like that the dogs are not kept in cages all day. The pricing is definitely on the high end. I have sent my dogs to much nicer facilities for less than what they charge here. For the price, I will not be sending my dog there again, but it was acceptable for a last minute 2 night stay. read more

My dogs love k9 and come home happy and exhausted (from playing) when we pick them up in the evening. James is fabulous. The staff is great. James works with new staff and like anyone new on the job, they do require some training. An example, we have a wonderful Shepard/ boxer mix and she does not like any dog picking on another dog - she is not aggressive and she does tend to interfere when she feels a situation is getting out of hand. James quickly trained new staff to understand that this was not aggressive behavior and that she was just being protective. The staff now call her Momma Layla. Recently we moved in Raleigh and had to board overnight. We have two dogs, and one of them got sick. James let me know and gave our dog a free bath. The facility is clean, fun to be in for dogs, and wonderfully run. We are thrilled and so are our dogs. read more

Have been taking my dogs to K9 Kabana since they opened. They come home completely tuckered out! Josie loves to swim and lounge in the pool as much as possible when she is not running and playing with other dogs and the wonderful staff. She is much more socialized with other people and dogs now. I showed up to drop my dog off after making a reservation and there was no one there. I had to catch a plane at noon and didn't have anywhere to put my dog. They called back at 11:00am saying that nobody showed up that day. The dogs still had not been out, and I was never offered anything for the inconvenience. I decided to brush it off when the same exact thing happened a month later. I again, had to catch a flight and waited outside at 10 am, called James and he said he would be there in 20 mins. After waiting for an hour, I left. I will never go back there. Not to mention, my dogs shots were overdue and they didn't even know. . .thanks K9 Kabana for putting me in a bind 2 times in a row! read more

Our pup started going to K9 over 2 years ago when she was 3 months old. After day 1 I couldn't say "Kabana" without her doing circles and RUNNING to the front door. She still does this act 2 years later. While many of her friends are those other pups she's known for years, she LOVES to meet and introduce new doggies to the pack. I love to see the big dogs and small dogs interact and play with one another. And while it's open play, there are areas for separating dogs should that be needed. I know Belle has needed a "time-out" here and there as she's a lab with lots of energy and can excited easily. "Time-out" is just that - settle down and then be back with the group. Same thing I expect from my daughter's kindergarten teacher. James (owner) and team are extended family! I'm the parent that forgets my credit card sometimes - and James always say, "Just bring it next time". I travel with work and have made those desperate phone calls, "I can't get back to Raleigh to get her" with a reply of, "We got her - don't worry - get home safe - we'll see ya tomorrow". She stays for 7-10 days during vaca week in the summer...Talk about coming home exhausted! I can't thank James and the staff enough for all they do to enrich Belle's life with fun, discipline and respect. I also appreciate the respect they show me and my daughter. I've never seen anything but professionalism and warmth from this Kabana team. Saying THANKS just isn't enough. read more

I tried to like this place as it was a convenient location on my way to work. They always seemed short staffed, but my dog was worn out by the time she got home and seemed to enjoy herself so I continued to take her despite the negative reviews. I showed up one morning before they were apparently closing their old location (location listed here is no longer in existence) and the young worker seemed annoyed that I brought her in when they were about to shut down and relocate. Never was a sign posted, nothing went out on the email list or a text. If I had gone one day later I would've been stuck with my dog 30 minutes away from home with limited options on where to keep her. I chalked it up to bad communication until I took her to the new location off of I-70. The owner has all new staff who had no idea what to charge me, what time I got there or what the new fees were. When I paid him the new rate he conveniently did not have change so I left. Again, there was no sign or communication posted regarding the new fees. Apparently a half day is now $15.00, which is from 9:00 - 12:00 as they close two hours for lunch. By the time I got there a bit past 2:30 ( which was just over 3 hours of play time) I was charged $25. There is also no outside access due to the cold weather - something to keep in mind if your dog will not go indoors. Unfortunately I will be looking for a new puppy care. read more
