Disclaimer - I've only ever eaten here on take-out. However, it's my go-to takeout place in Cambridge/Somerville - so much so that it's become a Friday-night-default. Seriously, oh my god, the Chicken Masala and the naan. I could live off of it. The biggest downside to this is the price, it's definitely not cheap and there's not a ton of it for the price ($15 for two "sauce" sized containers, or one regular container), but it's worth it. Just be prepared to have an amazing meal and supplement with rice. Also - do yourself a favor and eat the naan stuffed with potatoes and peas, seriously, just do it. read more

Went for the first time, and the $14.95 buffet on Sunday is the best value you will get in this area. I came here with my friend who doesn't even like Indian food and she was thoroughly converted. The tikka masala with rice, any of the chicken dishes really, the sweet yogurt sauce, the black tea with milk, the lentil (?) curry, all of it is really really good. It's a small restaurant but never overcrowded, and the service is very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place - go here if you want to experience quality indian food and want something different from your go-to place (unless The Kabab Factory already is your go-to). read more

The restaurant is not what it's name may infer...lunch buffet offers more than 10 selections of dishes for you to choose from: lamb curry, okra veggie stirfry, catfish curry, veggie samosas are some of my favorites to name a few. The place is clean, relatively trendy compared to some of the indian restaurants you find around the neighborhood (Newbury st excluded). Not the friendliest waitstaff, but the food makes up for it. Walking distance to hip and exciting Inman Square. Definitely worthy of return visits. read more

Now I won't make claims that this is the best Indian IN Boston, but it is certainly the best I've had. This is a cute little place that serves some very delicious food. (My first 5star rating on Yelp!) This is a review for the weekend brunch only! The bad: The size of the place. It's cramped. If you go there for a buffet, make sure your plates aren't piled too high. Who wants goat curry hair treatment?! The good: 9 out of 10 times I've gone there, I've snagged the corner table - just my luck I suppose, but one day, they'll have my name engraved on that chair :) Oh, and I'm good at balancing heaps of food, so maneuvering to above-mentioned corner spot - not a problem! The awesome: The variety of food options is great... there's something for everyone. You start with the dahi-vadas, and the pani-puris with three choices of chutney. Then there are samosas and grilled chicken with onions and peppers (Reshmi kabab?)! Next to them is an ever changing set of entrees. Last weekend they had Butter Chicken, Goat curry, cauliflower and peas, and some spicy shrimp concoction. There was rice and some steamed thing called chicken momos (never had them before). Sometimes they have papad/papadums and raita - didn't see it last weekend. When at the table, they give you samples of Masala Dosas. You also get naan at the table if you are not big on rice! For dessert, once again, the options vary. I love the (not from a can) gulab jamuns, but I've seen kheer and halwas too. The food was decent. We got to the buffet at 2pm and it's supposed to last until 3pm however, most of the food was cold. And the service was horrible. We were served 3 cups of warm water and asked for ice water. The waiter just came back with a jug of ice and threw the ice in our cups while splashing water all over our food and us. Did not get to make it to the buffet but it was totally delicious. My girlfriend and the people on the train probably did not like me the next day but it was still delicious and i would order the same thing again. The eggplant curry and the garlic naan was some of the best i had every had. Also perfect place to go eat of one of you is a vegetarian. The pakoras were also amazing and very authentic. I have been to the lunch buffet 3 times now and have yet to be disappointed. Each time I go the menu is slightly different. I tried the chicken tikka masala one time which was creamy and amazing and the vegetable masala another time which was also delicious. They have a lot of variety on the buffet: samosas, juicy tandoori chicken, at least two curry dishes, two to three vegetable dishes, and even soup. Their soup, by the way, is very tasty and I find it a great way to end my meal (along w/ some tea). The restaurant is tastefully decorated, but it is small and does feel a bit cramped. I've had a small wait each time I've visited, but it is well worth it. Overall, this place is AWESOME. Just thinking about it now makes me want to go back again and again...It's definitely the best Indian buffet I've tried in the Boston area and I have tried A LOT. read more

I went to their buffet on a Sunday. The food was delicious ! Especially I liked the following: * Gobi Manchurian * Chicken Kebab * Samosa * Saag Paneer The buffet service is very good. They keep a watchful eye on your plates and remove them almost instantly after you are done. The complementary dosa was also very good. Overall a very good experience. I've been to basically every Indian restaurant in Boston and Cambridge and this is by far the best. I used to come here more when I lived near Inman and now that I'm in Boston I have to remind myself how worth it it is to make the trip across the river just for a taste of these divine kebabs. Now while I am not Indian and lack the ethnic-cred, as a Greek I know about kebabs, and I found the lamb ribs to be a particular victory. If you want to try a taste of them all, I recommend the sampler. The non-kebab dishes are equally impressive; the cauliflower being my personal favorite. The service is also great. They are so friendly, attentive, and seem to genuinely care that you like the food. My boyfriend has a gluten allergy and they were very sweet about letting us return a dish that we did not realize was breaded. The ambiance is casual but aesthetically pleasing. First rate north-indian food around the Harvard area, this place is a must-go for anyone who likes kebabs. It is by no means authentic or the best in the city, but it is flavorful, and the service and ambiance is pleasant. Also, this is the first time I've seen Roomali Roti on the menu. The restaurant is small-ish, but royally decorated. The ambiance is a little on the darker side, but gives a classy vibe. The service is friendly, but not professional, just what I'd expect in an indian restaurant. The food is really great. We got a paneer tikka and chicken kebab for the appetizer. The paneer was a little hard but very well cooked, and they had dal makhani on the side, which was excellent. My friends were raving about the chicken kebab, which they said was one of the better ones in Boston. For the entrees, we got a veggie kofta which was very flavorful, not spicy at all, and a chicken tikka masala, which my friends said was decent, but nothing to rave about. The roomali roti was well cooked, and they offered us complimentary malbari parota which was really good too. The prices are a little on the higher side, around $17 for the kebabs and $14 for the entrees. Considering the quality and ambiance, it is justified. Definitely will recommend this to everyone, and will go again when I'm back in Boston. read more

I would come here for lunch all the time while my dad was staying at Spaulding rehab. I would order both off the buffet and the menu- very consistent service, food, and experience. Really good pricing. I love Indian food and this wasn't just nasty meat covered in sauces and spices- it was actually really good, delicious, authentic Indian food. Unless the went up very recently, I always felt like the prices were pretty decent; I've paid double for food that was only half as good. I ordered the beef kebobs which came with basmati rice, sauce, and a small side salad. The salad was excellent, and fresh. The delivery was on time and correct. However, the kebobs themselves were as hard as rubber and didn't taste very good. The rice was improperly cooked, though the portion size was good. I liked the sauce. Very dissapointed with this meal, and it was too poorly made to finish. I may give them another chance, but won't be ordering this item as take out ever again. read more

But I come from North India and have grown up eating mughlai food (kebabs, korma, nihari etc), and I can easily say that this is by far the best mughlai food place hands down that I have tried in North America (Canada included). The korma has just the right texture, the right amount of dry fruits and perfect spices. The dishes from tandoor are very well made, not under or overcooked, marinated with handmade and very well prepared masala's. The cream based gravy dishes with 'methi' are amazing. I can go on and on but I would rather want you eating the food than reading what I have to say. read more

I have never been here for dinner, but the lunch buffet is the best in Cambridge. (Many people would argue with this.) Everything is great, although it is admittedly heavy. The goat curry is always perfect (I love goat) and the tandoori chicken is tender, salty and perfect. The vegetable dishes with vegetable dumplings and the occasional fish dish are really good. I find their paneer dishes somewhat too heavy, lots of cream and almonds. Nonetheless, for 9$, you can't go wrong. Only go if you are starving and eat as much as possible. You know this is for real when a person is so enraged by a business' service that they are implored to create a Yelp account to tell everyone else how shitty the place is. I can sympathize with another review I read about poor delivery and customer service. I also waited just under two hours for my food (on a regular Sunday evening, not a holiday or anything) and I felt like I was being jerked around when I tried to find out about the status of my order. Instead, I felt like I was being given BS excuses to get me off the phone quicker. After an hour of waiting, I called to check the status of my order and was immediately cut off and put on hold as soon as she heard me say "checking on my order." After getting back to me, I was given various excuses about why my order hadn't arrived yet. But, I was told that the food had just finished cooking and would be here within 30 minutes. Apparently, it then took the delivery driver 50 minutes to drive 0.9 miles down the road to my apartment. That is either the slowest delivery driver I've ever encountered, or I was lied to about when my food was ready. I'm inclined to believe it was the latter. This review is about customer service, and the Kebab Factory's was so bad that they will never get my patronage again. Trust me and DO NOT GET DELIVERY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Although, for myself, I will not be eating here, in person or delivery, ever again. read more

Best indian ever -- love the chicken korma, tika masala, dal, all the appetizers. When you go to pick up they give you complimentary soup -- mushroom soup is to die for. Wish I still lived within delivery distance (but maybe its a good thing!!) It is pricey but each entree is like 2.5 meals in size and SO GOOD. read more

After moving to the Boston area last year, we have been searching for a "really good" Indian restaurant without being too pricey or cheap. After our visit today to Kebab factory, I think we may have found one! We tried the weekend lunch buffet today - it was available till 4 PM, which was nice. The chicken kebab and goat (in the goat curry) was the most succulent and delicious that I have savoured in Indian restaurants. The paani-puri and samosa in the appetizers was good. The Bombay curry soup, dal makhani were great. The generous helpings of Naan and dosa were a welcome addition. The rice-pudding and halwa were good but could have been better. To round it all of, there was delicious masala tea available as part of the buffet. Now for any restaurant to score high on my list, I do check out if the restaurant takes care of their rest rooms. While the seating area in this restaurant is on the smaller side, the rest rooms here were spacious and clean - a definite plus. Finally check out the various peas/lentils/spices that are sealed under the glass of the table top to create a nice touch! Overall, we loved the place and will be definitely coming back! read more

I love Indian food, and I love spice, but this place was disappointing... Many of the mains were a bit too sweet and the flavors in the chutneys didn't pop. The curries we ordered "hot" had literally NO heat at all! Also, the service was slooow and there was major confusion about what they did and didn't charge our credit cards.
