Nursing staff was understaffed, uncaring, full of lies, and petty. They left him sitting in a wet diaper for 8 hours. This facility has a bad rep for a reason. It's completely terrible and I'll be filing a report with whatever health authority I can. The way they treated him in the 24 hours he was here was completely unacceptable.

Stayed here for several weeks for rehab after an accident, and I never want to return here again. During my first week there were several times I was left sitting on the toilet for over a half hour after I pulled the call button. Bed sheets were never changed and when I asked for clean sheets I was told by three people that wasn't in their job description. Never received a shower the whole time I was there even though I asked repeatedly. Dietician never informed the kitchen about my food allergy and that I'm a vegan. Food was terrible, and when family members brought in fruits and snacks I could eat, the staff ate it while I was in rehab. Missing items - glasses, arch supports from The Good Feet Store, hand lotion, and the top to my pajamas. The cross stitch that I had taken with me was vandalized - a corner was cut off and I cannot salvage it. The woman in the room next to me complained about a mouse in her room. and I heard that there was an ant infestation on the first floor. Don't bother complaining. Not one of the staff wears their name tags right side up so you don't know who they are, and they all have the opinion that everyone over 60 is senile and can't remember anything.

The Memory care department at Barrington of Oakley LACKS confidence and FAILS to deliver LEADERSHIP…read more/ COMMUNICATION / ACCOUNTABILITY / PROFESSIONALISM/ COMPASSION AND PROPER TRAINING!! The following is our brief experience at the Barrington. - First of all, YOU WILL HAVE TO BE FULLY INVOLVED EVERYDAY TO ENSURE YOUR LOVED ONE IS RECEVING PROPER CARE! - The GROSS LACK of LEADERSHIP ensures that the daily care plan does not exist! There is no set schedule, each IMPROPERLY TRAINED aide seems to ignore the policy set fourth and tends to be on their own program, at the expense of the residents! - Most Aides are very AGGRESSIVE IN TONE AND BODY LANGUAGE especially when waking residents in the morning. Often times NO toileting upon waking. - Meal time is RUSHED AND LOUD some of the residents often seem agitated. - Most residents will Sit in their chair watching TV (LMN) all day long. - Observed Aides sitting down playing on their cell phones while residents were in NEED OF ASSISTANCE. When asked why they ignore the residents, the aides respond with, "they are having a moment." However, a properly trained aide would realize there is a problem, and they are not just having a moment! - ACCOUNTABILITY LEAVES MUCH TO BE DESIRED. The night shift is understaffed. Most aides avoid policy and DO NOT check on residents every two hours during the night as promised, lucky if it is every 6 hours. Sometimes NOT at all! When we would be leaving for the night, a couple of aides would say to us "I didn't know anyone was still here." - Apartment NOT cleaned daily, bed NOT made, sheets NOT cleaned, DIRTY DISHES accumulate in the sink, TRASH PILES UP FOR DAYS. - DIRTY CLOTHES in hamper for days, damp clothes folded and put back into dresser. Clean sheets were put on bed over a SOILED MATTRESS PAD. - Mom's fall changed from, "I woke her up in the morning, needed to get gloves came back and found her on the floor to," "I didn't see anything." Policy states that the Dr. is notified when a fall occurs. That did NOT happen. - Our Dad was on a liquid diet. NO SOLID FOOD. His meals consisted of a burrito and a sandwich. We provided the protein shakes, however, he never got them. He couldn't walk, yet his solid food meals were placed on the kitchen table while he was across the room in his recliner. - DOCUMENTS ARE FULL OF MISTAKES! Shower log annotates showers given on days when our mom was not in the building and on a day when she was sick. - MANAGEMENT IS TOO TOLERANT OF SERIOUS ERRORS! Several times medication had not been administered in the evening hours. One nurse "FORGOT" to give medication two evenings in a row! As well as signing for medication administered daily, when it is only to be giving once every six months. NO ATTENTION TO DETAIL! - Highly recommend installing CAMERAS inside the apartment! Often times the aides would BLOCK or UNPLUG the cameras. This behavior naturally begs the question, what are you doing or NOT doing that you don't want the family members to see? - LACK OF COMPASSION, Day after our dad died, we were there comforting our mom and the nurse demanded that we leave. She RUDELY escorted us out of the building on the orders of the Memory Care Director. This is the same nurse that FORGOT to give our mom her pain medication two days in a row! - To resolve any problems you must COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN! We had three meetings with the Executive Director and the Memory Care Director all to no avail! - Clearly the Barrington's memory care staff is more concerned about their own well-being and NOT the residents! LACK OF LEADERSHIP and IMPROPERLY TRAINED AIDES have produced a very caustic and corrosive environment for the residents. WHAT A SHAME!

AVOID Barrington of Oakley Memory Care. Your loved one will be neglected if you choose this…read morefacility. Save yourself the time, aggravation, money, and heartache. and find a facility with staff trained in memory care and a management team that is receptive to your concerns. Our mother was a resident for 82 days. We were physically present in the afternoons and or evenings on the memory care floor for 78 out of 82 days. Here are our observations: * Staff are not properly trained to interact with patients with dementia. * Management does a poor and inadequate job of holding staff accountable. * Multiple workers on cell phones, taking personal calls or scrolling while residents are neglected. * Illegally dressing our mother with two Depends. * Our mother's diet changed to mechanical diet unnecessarily without a doctor's order. * Two months without a shower. Shower records falsified. * Nurse failed to administer medication. Medication record, MAR, was altered to show meds were administered. * Memory care is understaffed. Staff often solo during night shifts. * Not taken to bathroom upon waking. * Abrupt, loud, aggressive tone of voice used to speak to residents by some aides. * Residents are rushed to eat during mealtimes. * A lot of time is spent in front of TV showing programs not specific to residents of that generation. We did have the pleasure of working with several very conscientious and caring aides. We are grateful for the care and companionship they provided for our mother. My siblings and I sent emails, texts, left voicemails, and met with the executive director and director of memory care three times to discuss our concerns. We were not asking for special treatment. We simply wanted Barrington to provide what was promised on their website, in their literature, and what was agreed to the day we signed our lease. Barrington of Oakley's Memory Care Unit is poorly managed, lacks accountability, and doesn't have the best interest of their residents in mind.

Any concerns or questions that I had were answered in a timely and satisfactory manner. The admin staff went above and beyond to accommodate my schedule for meetings/paperwork etc. Ms Flowers immediately took care of the discharge paperwork and helped me with any departure problems I had. I have to change the subject and mention the food. I consider myself an expert on institutional food. Mainly because I like it if it's good. I have to say that the food at HPHC is quite possibly the best I've ever had. When it comes to cooking real home cooked meals for a great deal of people day after day this kitchen excels. Hats off! My mother's room was private, comfortable and large. The room was very clean and the bathroom was spotless. Supplies were plentiful and easily available. I was able to schedule a hair appointment for my mother, on site, within one day. They did a wonderful job. I would like to thank Dr K, nurses Joy and Chastity and all the nursing staff, Ms. Flowers, the OT and PT staff, Megan in speech therapy, Food Service, Housekeeping and everyone I missed naming for treating my mother with kindness, dignity, and respect.

It's all about the money and they will try scare tactics to get what they want. The facility needs a facelift and a good cleaning. Deplorable conditions in rooms from rust to stains on linens. It's a shame that some people have to have short stays there or lives their lives out in this disgusting filthy "facility." That's me being nice. If you have a family member that needs a facility stay for any reason I would stay far away from this place.
