I had an incredible experience with Mike! I drive a 2002 Land Rover Discovery, and lost my only key for the vehicle. I called around to numerous companies, including the Land Rover dealership, and was told repeatedly that there was nothing anyone could do to help me, because the keys have to be cut by the Land Rover manufacturer in Great Britain, and each key had to be synced to each specific vehicle based on the VIN #. Because of the complicated nature of older model Land Rovers, no company was willing to even come look at my car. Feeling very discouraged, I called The Key Guy, and Mike told me that he absolutely would come work on my car, without any hesitation at all. Mike arrived, and worked on my car for four straight hours. Because of the age and model of my car, the tumblers in the ignition cylinder did not match the ones in the door lock. Mike spent an incredible amount of time and effort until he was able to configure a key that would open both the door lock and start the ignition. He was exceptionally nice and professional, and was dedicated and determined to give me the best product possible. My roommate and I had an awesome experience with Mike! We have a 2002 Land Rover Discovery and I lost the only key I had. He arrived and worked on our car for 4 hours. There were many failed attempts at getting a key to work in the ignition because of the age and type of car. He took the time to explain to us why the keys weren't working and what he had to do to fix them. A lot of trial and error went on until he finally figured out the key. He never gave up the whole time he was working and was so determined to get this taken care of. We really appreciate his help and I will never recommend anyone by him to other people. I want to write this review to express the outstanding service I received. He is a true locksmith and very professional. I had 3 locks to change when I first moved into my home and he could have easily told me that those 3 locks needed replacing, but instead, he told me that he could save me some money by merely changing the combination inside the locks. Lock replacements would have been so expensive, and he saved me the additional expense (big bucks). I really appreciated it. Also, all 3 locks on my door were unstable, and after he was done, my locks were very sturdy. And I needed an additional key, which he dropped off at my building the following week. Never having had to use an automobile locksmith to reprogram a key remote for a vehicle, I was not sure exactly what to expect. I posted a request for a quote on here and within about 10-15 minutes I received an email asking for additional information and to give him a call. Anywhere, Anytime, Any Key. The Key Guy locksmith in Richmond is true to his slogan. I recently lost the only key I had to my 1999 4Runner and if its one thing you should know about the 3rd gen 98-00 4runners is that you should definitely not lose your master key. Once that's gone you can either get a new ECU and set of keys from the dealer for a mortgage or call the Key Guy to re-flash it for you for a fraction of that. He came all the way to Colonial Heights on time and ready to work. When he found out I was a student he offered me a 10% discount or another master key. My wife and I recently bought a used 2017 Kia Sportage. Unfortunately it only came with one key. Certainly not a deal breaker at the price point. Knowing that this could add several hundred dollars to the price of the car I did some online research and found Mike. After a few emails and texts we set a time and date. The key guy is a great company. I called the other 5 star companys and for the on call locksmith which happens to be the same guy for a few different companys. I really didn't like the the way he spoke to me on the phone and he said I would have to wait till Monday until anyone could get the part that was needed. So I waited until Monday and called the the key guys. I should have called them in the first place. He had everything in the truck very professional and quick. Wow!!! Super impressed. I spent 2 months with a different locksmith wayyy across town trying to get a key fob made for my Camry. The Key Guy came out to my house, saw that it was a 'special' type of key fob and got it right on the first try! His communication was amazing! He called me when he ordered the special fob, called me when it came in, and called me to set up an appt. Extremely professional and super friendly! I highly recommend. Since then I have referred him to several friends family and even some of my guests who locked their keys in their cars. I needed locks re-keyed. I called and he said he could be there in 45 minutes. He called and informed me that he was running 15 minutes late. He arrived on time, and kept me informed as to when he was coming. The re-key took only a few minutes and the lock works well. We called them at 11:00 at night after we locked ourselves out of the house. He was quick to get here and even though it took sometime to get the door open, the door wasn't ruined. They were very reasonable in pricing, especially for so late at night.
