I moved into a home with a surround sound system wiring installed by Structured Cable of VA. I thought it would be a no brainer for me to contact the company and attach a system to the existing wiring. They installed a Yamaha receiver and speaker system to the existing wiring. The system they installed cost me over $3,400. From the day it was installed it has been nothing but a nightmare of them coming out weekly to fix an array of issues. From the speakers not working to the TV going in and out and constantly replacing wiring. At one point they swapped out the receiver hoping that would fix the issues. Finally, they blamed everything on my new 72-inch screen TV. Now they are trying to go back and charge me $150 for service calls and scheduling new service calls to try and fix the issues. My problems still exist and I'm searching for answers. I wish I could give less than one star. read more

we bought a new house and during the building we hired Structured Cable of Virginia. Not only didn't they do anything in the contract, they refuse to refund or fix what they were suppose to do. When calling to complain we were treated with a person on the phone that was so rude and unprofessional that she kept hanging up on us. I dont know how a company like this is in business. Had them run my wiring for my home theater system. Also installed a WiFi booster and our home intercom system. Home theater surround sound was shoddy at best, the wiring is all different, one of the right front speakers was ran with cat-5 ‍ The WiFi booster "what a joke" And the intercom was wired wrong, not once but twice. And don't worry we followed up and had them out several times, just got the same poor work done. read more

I recently bought a new construction home through Ryan Homes. During the build, Ryan Homes explained that for all cable, internet, phone and custom media installs, they only deal with Structured Cable. When I arrived to the showroom, I was impressed. They had a lot of hi-tech/ highend electronics and very nice display rooms. The consultants were very nice and extremely knowledgeable. During the install, I had cable and ethernet installed in 3 rooms and a 65in flat screen mounted in the family room. And here's where all the problems occurred... For the flat screen tv, I wanted all wires to be ran behind the wall. However, for my main media wire, they told me that it wasn't long enough to run behind the wall, so they ended up leaving it dingling from the bottom of the tv, about 3ft down to my media table. The wire is very thick and it was a total eyesore. Then, one day when I was cleaning behind the media table, I happened to look at the wire and it was definitely long enough. So I called Structured Cable and explained the situation. They ended up sending someone out, free of charge to fix it. It took about 3 weeks for the technician to come by. Which is another complaint of mine. If you need any work done, they're usually booked out 1 to 2 months! Aside from that, they were supposed to install an ethernet and a phone line in the office, but instead they installed two ethernet lines. That was a very careless mistake and I have yet to get that fixed. Lastly, I feel that there were some important options that should have been mentioned during the initial consult. I'm the type of person that only likes to make a purchase once. I don't want to have to upgrade down the road because things are outdated. I'd rather buy the best available at the time of purchase. With that said, I wasn't very happy with the surge box and the quality of most of the wires that they used. read more

Had them installed security system and cameras. One camera failed called got run around. Had them wire surround sound and exterior speakers. They used bell wire. Was not even 16 gauge. If your serious about sound stay away from these guys. read more

I read some of the other reviews but have had a completely different experience. We also had new construction but with a different provider that apparently is now going out of business. We had a few lingering issues and SCOVA was able to step in and resolve very effectively and efficiently. Both technicians were extremely knowledgeable, great communication, arrived per schedule, and came up with a creative solution to address the shortcomings of the sound systems installed by the former provider. Very customer focused start to finish. Highly recommend. read more

The company's response explains the options but doesn't address my concerns. Since I have already contacted this company regarding my concerns which boils down to me being either duped by the salesperson or his lack of knowledge about their products and services, unless they are going to live up to their claim of striving to deliver excellent customer service, I see no need to contact them again. My biggest mistake was allowing the sales person to talk me through the options instead of reading them myself. HUGE lesson learned for me. In any case, I invite the company to contact me if they have a solution (other than me spending more money) to make me a happy customer. read more

I purchaseda new house from Ryan Homes and Structured Cable of VA were supposed to install the central vacuum system for my house. But what they installed in my house was totally different from what they presented to us in their showroom. The one that they had in their showroom had hidden hose, which was very convenient to use, while the one they installed had a heavy and bulky hose that has to be installed and removed every time we vacuum the house. We told them we are very unhappy with that system and we don't want it. But they said they cannot help! Terrible company! This is a fraud. read more

After purchasing a Ryan home in Richmond everything went smooth until our time with Structured cable of Virginia. We tried to schedule our showroom to pick our selections multiple times but could not get our salesman Chris to contact us back We had to get our project manager to be our middle man to get it scheduled. The initial install pre closing was satisfactory and was quality work. Fast forward to when we closed on our house. I called Structured Cable of VA numerous times to schedule the final install of our electronic equipment. (security system, surround sound and two tv installs). After a week of calling I finally received a call from Frank to schedule my appointment. He informed that they could not come for another 3 weeks. This was unsatisfactory to me after I had been trying to schedule my service for a week already. I politely voiced that I was unaware that the lead time would be so long and Frank rudely informed that I could take it or leave it. He was busy and I should of called sooner. I made my appointment with Frank for 3 weeks out and asked to speak to a manager. He informed me he was the manager and could speak to the owner Dee Straub. Of course Mrs. Straub was not available but was told she would contact me back asap. I called the following week to speak to Mrs. Straub. and was told she would call me back asap. I never did get a call back from her. When the day came for my install everything went smooth until I was informed they did not have our subwoofer or second infrared piece to control our tv. So we have been stuck walking back and forth to our closet from our living room to change channels and control volume. We finally got the install completed 13 weeks after we moved in and i will say the system does work but has been a nightmare from the get go. Several of my neighbors have had the same experience. RYAN homeowners BEWARE they're very rude their customer service is not professional at all I spoke to someone named Frank and he hung up the phone on me they actually installed a faulty old HDMI cord behind my wall and when we went to place our new TV up there so the HDMI cord snapped in half they did not want to replace it they try to say that Ryan home should pay for it however it was their equipment when we paid to have this installed it should have been new cords and wires it was NOT. read more
