Pretty much your everyday diner, but maybe more on the dated side. Having read through some of the past reviews, I completely agree with other reviewers calling this "basic" and "standard" because there's really no other way to put it. The interior was typical of older diners - carpeting almost everywhere, endless number of booths and elderly patrons. We decided to dine here on a Saturday morning prior to hitting up the beach and walked in at around 11 AM. Unlike some other diners we had been to in Northern NJ, Kings Arm was relatively empty with a few tables occupied (by what looked to be locals) here and there. Our waitress approached us immediately after we sat down and she was very friendly and accommodating throughout our meal. As for the menu, it was as big of a menu as any diner we had ever been to - pages upon pages of breakfast items, dinner items, etc. It's what you would expect when you walk into a diner - a seemingly unlimitedddd number of things to choose from that will make your head spin. LOVEEEE IT. As for the food, it was pretty mixed from our end. My better half ordered the Pork Chop Milanese, while I got the Country Fried Steak with 2 eggs. For the kids, they had the Kids Spaghetti and Meatballs and Mac and Cheese. First, the Pork Chop Milanese. My wife actually reallllly, realllly liked it. Even though the pork chop looked dry, she thoroughly enjoyed it, which kind of surprised me. I had a bite of it and I thought it was just OK. As for my Country Fried Steak, I was verrrrrry disappointed in it. The steak wasn't very good and the white gravy just tasted and looked "old". Also, the home fries that came with my dish were not crispy and, in fact, very powdery. We also tried a little bit of the Spaghetti and Meatballs and Mac and Cheese, which were both alright. The spaghetti was al dente, but only came with ONE meatball, and the Mac and Cheese was totallllly Kraft. Overall, I expected a little more from Kings Arms, but, we took a risk and we missed on this one. Everything about the diner just said "outdated" and average to us. I can look past the decor typically as long as the food is good, but the food wasn't great, so the outdated decor kind of seemed worse than it probably is. read more

Pretty basic diner. Saw a few older regulars otherwise pretty empty. Service was nice and friendly. Food was pretty standard, nothing to rave about. Ordered two omelettes. Asked for cheddar but it came out American processed like Velveeta. Waitress offered to exchange it. Wheat Toast was dry and cheap sandwich bread. A previous review mentioned old carpet, which is still there along with desserts that look dried out in the case. One plus was their pancakes, nice and fluffy. Decent diner food is good. Desiree is awesome. They recently changed to opening at 8 AM. I really wish the owners would reconsider this because a lot of the regulars are going to go somewhere else. My family and I came here for an early lunch. Small wait at the door but honestly didn't even mind. Our waitress was great. She had every order right and was super attentive even though she has so many other tables. My food was very good. I got the Buffalo chicken wrap (Yankee wrap) with friends. I don't think I have ever given a diner five stars before..PLEASE put the corned beef and cabbage on your regular menu - it is that good! We were away the days leading up to St Pats so we didn't get a chance to get the corned beef and cabbage we never thought ordering it from a diner it would be very good but we gave it a shot. WOW, we would order this all the time from you guys if you put it on the regular menu. There was plenty of corned beef (5 slices) the cabbage, potatoes and carrots were cooked perfectly, not too mushy and the chicken soup that came with it was delish. What more could you ask for? Oh I know, some soda bread and butter to go with it! Been going to the diner for years ( yes I am a regular) there been changes in management and staff recently and not for the better.Jesus is there best cook when he is off you can see the difference in the food. Ordered chicken fried steak and it came out with the gravy underneath, never seen that and it was very thin and overcooked .ordered it when Jesus was there it was thicker and smothered in gravy as expected. The soups have declined since Diego left but there not horrible but could be much better. Love the waitress's my four favs are Dee, Dez, Amanda, Melissa. Ordered breakfast from here a few days ago. I had the Big Boy Breakfast, sunny side up. The food was well-packed, so no spills or broken eggs, and still hot. Everything was cooked well through, with the eggs still runny. The only "con" was that the portion of the homestyle fries was too large. But since they can be saved as leftovers, no real complaints here. Hopefully this becomes my go-to diner after moving to the area. read more

Atmosphere: The Kings Arms 2 Diner is located on the main road in Belford, NJ. Getting into the parking lot is confusing with the one ways but the parking lot is big. The inside has plenty of booths, tables, and a full-length bar. Coffee: The coffee was brewed hot and fresh. I could have used more refills but it was good. Food: The Kings Arms 2 Diner has everything you can imagine in a diner. There are plenty of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. We arrived for lunch and there was an entire page of salad specials. None of them spoke to me but I was craving a salad. Since I was at the Kings Arms II Diner, I decided to order the Kings Arms salad with steak. It came with mixed greens, pears, craisins, walnuts, goat cheese and sherry vinaigrette.   I added the steak. It concerned me when the waitress didn't ask how I wanted my steak done but once it came out, it was cooked medium are which I like. It wasn't the best salad I've had and for the cost, I could have used more greens. Service: The waitress was friendly and the food came out fast. I have no complaints. Came this morning place was empty. The waitress was a sweetheart today, but the food was not good at all.

My biggest complaint is not giving me a carafe of coffee I can pour myself. Add that the coffee cups are really small, I just knew this may not go as well as I anticipated. I ordered a sausage & cheddar omelet with French fries. It arrived with home fries. Yes, she took it right back, but then it took a few minutes to come out & my omelet was cold by then. This was not the only problem. Although they put a lot of sausage pieces in the omelet, the entire thing was tasteless. The sausage had zero flavor, the eggs didn't seem seasoned & the cheddar didn't add any flavor. I felt the eggs were overcooked & rubbery. The French fries were hot & very good, as was the toast. My friend got the cheeseburger deluxe & said it was very good. Will I go back? Yes, but I don't think for breakfast. To me, if a place does breakfast right, then it's good for everything. Here it seems the burgers are better than the breakfasts. When I try a new place, I always order the same breakfast so I can compare. This one comes in next to last, with the absolute worst breakfast going to All Seasons Diner in Eatontown, NJ. So far, our favorite breakfast is Perkins in Hazlet, NJ. This used to be the diner everyone went to, then life happened and it became Kings Arms II. Originally, it wasn't as good and was going downhill, but sometime over a year ago, they changed it around. While the prices are a smidge high for a diner, the food is once again fantastic. The service is great and it looks (close enough to) what it used to look like for that nostalgic feeling for everyone who has lived in the area. The only thing stopping then form a 5th star is their prices- smidge high and the I don't think they ever sell/serve specials as those prices are a bit ridiculous. Still, fantastic burgers, chicken franchaise, and breakfast. I'd list more but I generally live 2000 miles away from here, so I don't get to eat in as often as I'd like. read more

This is a review of the desserts only at this diner not for the food. I stopped here today because I was craving a piece of cheesecake. Usually diners have a lots of desserts to choose from and at least you can count on a pretty good cheesecake at a diner. When I walked in there was barely any desserts here, and the ones they did have didn't look good at all. The only one that did look good was the Oreo cheesecake. Unfortunately, it looked good, but wasn't good at all. The worst part of it is it didn't even taste like a cheesecake. It had such an awful taste, and the Oreo on top tasted freezer burn. BEST dinner in Middletown , it's not a diner this is restaurant quality food. Now introducing avocado toast! Best French toast I added some photos. Bell & Evans chicken (no other diner has that because it's expensive& best quality my own mom buys that to cook at home) ALL "Certified Black Angus" CBA burgers and steaks. Mine self and my Queen made passage to the humble abode of Kings Arms II, and were treated so honorably that we shan't wait long to call upon another feast at the castle. Sat we were hastily, and waited on hand and foot we were. 'Twas a beautiful sight not hardly seen at so many establishment like this in modern times. Ordered I did, as I was craving quality bellytimber and requested eggs, home fries and a fine ham slabbed straight from the loyal animal. The grub was so fair that we ordered extra for anon. The eggs were formed finely, the home fries delighted my stomach, and the ham was tender and rich with fresh flavor. Nice diner in an area of Middletown that needs some variety in eating places. If you are hungry for breakfast, try one of the skillets that are piled high and served super hot. For lunch or dinner, they serve one of the best grilled chicken fajitas platters I've had anywhere. read more

The center was cold to the touch. The tzatziki was bland. You can get better tzatziki at costco. The coleslaw was also terrible. It had a yellowish tint to it, so I'm guessing it was old. My table had also ordered a turkey club. Typical diner turkey club. French fries were cooked well. When the waitress refilled our sodas, she used the same cups with the straws in them. Thank you Kings Arms for showing me Route 36 can have a killer diner in Belford. I have become jaded searching for the funkiest food finds and little farm to table joints that I have been passing this place up for quite some time with a predisposed notion that it was just another cookie cutter restaurant. Boy was I wrong!!! Sure it's a dinner and sure they have the huge menu of breakfast lunch and dinner items but what you do t realize is it's all scratch made. A fabulous daily selection and specials too numerous to mention. The specialty is a double cut stuffed pork chop. Covered in a tasty fried onion concoction and oven baked to perfection. I did not have this dish my buddy did and it looked spectacular. I had chicken Marsala over rice and it was outstanding all thin cutlet white meat chicken and maxed to perfection. Desiree the waitress took great car of us and in turn since my buddy picked up the tab I made sure she would be happy with her gratuity. My friend is a regular there and he says breakfast is a must have. I will be back but I'm bringing reinforcement because all the entrees are humongous. Gave this place a try because our regular diner (that we love)is all the way across town (on the other side of Middletown). I wanted to like this place because it's closer to home. I've been here a total of 3 times now and sadly I won't be back. The service all 3 times was horrible... some of the servers are really "rough around the edges" yelling across the diner, one of my servers was smoking a cigarette in the bathroom before our food came out (I hope she washed her hands) and the food quality is really bad. I took my nephew here to have breakfast for dinner as a treat. His chocolate chip pancakes were good although the chips were pretty concentrated in the middle instead of evenly distributed. The bacon was perfectly cooked and he LOVED the swivel chairs at the bar. The server was kind and allowed him to enjoy that amenity.
