My lunch and dessert yesterday was my best ever! I understand that there is a new chef, and the former chef was great. I was amazed that this meal was even better!!! Called the Tea Room and spoke to an employee. Made a reservation for Saturday November 1st for noon. Had her repeat to ensure it was right. Came that day with guests and found it closed and locked. Received no notice or warning. Had to find another restaurant for lunch. Not very nice!! read more

Although the food is beautifully prepared and the atmosphere is lovely, there is a downside to the Raven Tea Room: It does not accommodate handicapped customers despite the web site statement that the entire restaurant is handicapped accessible. There is a ramp on the side of the building which leads to the interior foyer. From that point the entrance into the Tea Room consists of a flight of stairs which makes it difficult or impossible for a handicapped person to enter the dining area. There is also a door directly off the sidewalk outside going into the dining area, but staff tells handicapped customers they cannot use that door and are being rude if they do. The issues of access and insulting customers by telling them they are rude when they try to accommodate their needs were brought to the attention of the owner who did not respond in any way about either issue. There are many other good restaurants in the area which do accommodate all customers irregardless of their health issues (Apple Street Kitchen is one) and which do value all their customers so I'll leave the Tea Room to the hale and hearty. read more

I took my mom to lunch with my daughter ( she's 8). The restaurant it self is very dated. It's like an old hotel lounge with big bulky old chairs. The inside could use a facelift. Now about the food. Everything was exceptional! The waitress was the only one serving and hosting and she did a really great job keeping it all together. I love how you can see the chefs cooking. My daughters grilled cheese was perfect, just like mom makes! My sandwich and soup was so tasty and my mothers seared tuna was fresh and delicious! read more

Went for lunch today and everything was very good. I had the filet with scallops with vegetables. Everything was grilled to perfection. My favorite was the portobello mushroom. I was with a group of 8 and everyone really enjoyed their meal. It was a special occasion, so we had dessert. I had creme Brule and it was excellent. The vanilla bean really stood out. The service was okay. The server mixed up our orders a few times but nothing major. I would definitely return. read more

We have been coming here every year in the summer to have lunch with a friend who lives in red bank. We look forward to it because the chef is a genius!! Such delicious high quality lunches. I never know what to pick because it all sounds so good. What I have had never disappointed me. It's very small with maybe 7-8 tables. Oh my. It's been a healthy 4 years since I've been here, but I frequented the place for 6 months. Hernan (I trust he's still the chef? Or I hope so at least) is an absolute genius and never did I have a dish that wasn't absolutely perfect. The steak carpaccio was a revelation, and oh my god, the scallops! The tomato basil bisque he prepared has, to date, been the most flavorful I've ever had. I could never say enough about the restaurant and I dream of the day I can return. read more

Simply put, lunch at the Raven Tea Room is always a pleasure and delight. Chef Hernan is a culinary artist who uses his grill as a palatte to work magic on our palates. With an unparalleled selection of distinctive specialty sandwiches, salads and soups, the menu has much to offer. The grilled Filet Mignon BLT is my favorite sandwich and it is always cooked to perfection. Served on rosemary focaccia bread with melted swiss cheese and garlic mayo though I prefer the spicy mayo. I love the Raven Tea Room. Hernan, the chef, cooks all the orders, and does so to pure perfection. Everything always comes out delicious, with so much flavor, and looks amazing! The Filet BLT, is a must, and is my favorite sandwich. The chicken caesar salads here are the best I've ever had, truly (I'll ask to add some Kalamata olives on top.). Chicken avocado sandwich/wrap is a perfect choice. All the food is so fresh you'll think they have a garden out back! The breads they use, are top notch, and super tasty. Hernans spicy mayo is so yummy. Tons of seafood to choose from like Salmon, Scallops, Shrimp, etc. TRY A SOUP, please do yourself that favor. This place is small and I love that. It's quaint and many people on their lunch break will come over for a quick bite, or you'll see many ladies out for lunch here. This joint can get quite packed with a waiting list as it only has nine tables, biggest seating five. Will accommodate large parties over five by reservation only. (Unless they have room for your walk in party.) The food is priced well for the area, the quality of food, and service that you'll receive. I do wish they would remodel as the decor is a little too 80's late 90s, but the food, Hernan, and service totally make up for it. Wine by glass and bottle, and if the servers aren't too busy, they'll do their best to make you cocktail as the joined restaurant has a full bar. read more
