We stopped in for the Beef on Weck. Absolutely love the atmosphere! Sandwich came out a little underwhelming. I asked the staff for something else and the owner stepped in to ask what was wrong. I explained my concerns to her and she offered to personally remake the sandwich for me. It came out of the kitchen tasting like I had traveled to Buffalo and was eating from one of the many local establishments that offer this gem of a sandwich. I can't say enough good things about how the owner stepped in and righted an unhappy customer. I will most definitely be patronizing this place again and highly recommend going there. I've been meaning to try The Kitchen Sink for a couple of months now and finally had the perfect opportunity today, a gorgeous 70° Wilmington spring afternoon. First of all this part of town is absolutely adorable with the coolest shops, restaurants and breweries. Such a great vibe! Close to Dreamers Welcome (stay here) and Savorez (eat here, too!). We each got a salad and shared the gazpacho. It was pretty busy but our food didn't take long. Salads were super fresh. Every ingredient was like it was just chopped. My lunch mate's salad was literally a whole little head of living bib lettuce. They were sold out of my first choice soup but the gazpacho was an absolute flavor bomb and we loved it. They will be adding more seasonal cold soups to the menu which I can't wait to try. Definitely try their homemade dressings. Wash it all down with their "immuni-tea" by the local Queen Esther Teas (check them out). Didn't have time for dessert this visit but they sounded delicious. We sat along the coolest live-edge banquette along the wall. Tons of pillows and cushions to get comfy. The owners are hands-on and obviously take a lot of pride in their restaurant- rightfully so. If you're reading this keep up the epic job! There are always going to be people who fuss about prices. Don't cater to them. Stay true to your quality standards because that is what your reputation is built upon. As a reviewer, please consider the effect of your review on a small business. Have been meaning to make it over here forever and finally stopped by for a late lunch. It's fast casual in that you order first and take it to your seat. I love that for the not being held hostage waiting to pay aspect, but it also meant the tables weren't necessarily being cleaned as soon as someone left the table because there wasn't a server watching them. That's the only reason for the star reduction - we had to wipe ketchup and other gunk off the table before we could eat. For the food, I got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. I was expecting like fried Nashville chicken, but this was pulled - I was pleasantly surprised by this. However this meant that there was much more surface area for that hot sauce - it was HOT. The biscuits they were on were phenomenal. I got mine with a side salad; the Gorgonzola vinaigrette was amazing. I also tried the lavender lemonade which was really good! My husband tried the meatball sandwich. He's been on this forever quest for the perfect meatball sub, and this wasn't it for him, but he did say it was pretty good. The food is not at all as advertised. I was not impressed. They didn't not pack enough dips for all of the sandwiches we ordered . The Greek chicken soup tasted like it was from a can. Really love this new local spot that just popped up in the arts district! We came on a whim around the corner from our place and we were not disappointed! I had the Turkey on croissant which was outstanding. I had a side salad of Bibb lettuce which was freshly plucked to order with a homemade blue cheese vinaigrette. We ordered ; Beef on a Weck ; roast beef on a weck roll with au jus. A Nonna's Meatballs; homemade Italian meatballs with provolone. A cup of Tomato Basil Bisque soup with a side salad. A side of Mac-N- Cheese with a cup of Tomato Basil Bisque soup. The beverages are self serve ; hot coffee, iced teas, lavender lemonade , soda , water and a few other beverages are in the refrigerator to choose from. The place was filling up with patrons. Our trays - served on quarter sheet pans came out fairly speedy . It all looked amazing and smelled wonderful. The hot food were hot and the cold foods cold. The tomato basil bisque soup was warm, flavorful, creamy and totally delicious. The Mac-N-Cheese was warm , creamy , made with several cheeses and had great flavor. The side salad had a great presentation, Bibb lettuce , sliced cucumbers, sliced tomato , sliced red onion and shredded cheese. The Beef on a Weck , was warm , the meat flavorful, well seasoned served with a horseradish cream sauce on a bun. The bun had caraway seeds on it but appeared to be missing the coarse ground- kosher salt on it - but it was good. The dipping au jus was tasty , adding a nice dimension to the sandwich . The Nonna's meatballs were warm, tender , moist and flavorful, it was served on a small grinder roll. The staff are super friendly and helpful. A definite keeper for a lunch spot . read more

I gave this establishment a 2 star because I have eaten there before for lunch and it has been solid. Unfortunately I tried their brunch for the the 1st time and was utterly disappointed. There was 3 of us, 2 of us ordered coffee, they only had enough for one cup. No problem they would make some more. Well the one cup they gave us was cold, so we told them that. They quickly replaced it with the bottom of what was brewing, which was extremely strong. We would have easily waited for the pot to finish brewing for the coffee. We all ordered 3 different meals. The B.A.D Breakfast, bacon was cold, eggs (ordered scramble) didn't look appetizing (they were dark and looked full of seasoning), and biscuit was hard. She felt as those it wasn't fresh, old. The Harrissa Scramble had no flavor and too much Harrissa paste, came with a pile of side onions, he didn't know what to do with. Lastly the Guava Monte Cristo was just a fail. I love guava, croissants and who doesn't enjoy fried food. On the menu there was no mention of mustard so to my surprise when i bit into it there was mustard in there as well. It was the most strange and awful mixture of guava with mustard flavor i have ever had. I don't know if it was a mistake or it comes with the mustard, since mustard was not on the menu. I left utterly disappointed, we all left a lot of the food. I really wanted to enjoy this Brunch experience. The ambiance is cute, servers were friendly and neighborhood is great. read more

A few months ago some friends and I went on a Thalian Hall fundraiser tour of restaurants, each restaurant offered just a few tasty tidbits to entice you to return. Return. We went to the kitchen sink and boy did they ever entice us. They gave us meatballs that were amazing, candied bacon that was to die for, macaroni and cheese and some soups to sample and they told us that they have a flight of soups on their menu. So we went back today to give the flight of soups a try, we were also enticed by some of their other things that we could take home for dinner. Dinner. So I tried three soups, the Italian wedding soup, spicy shrimp soup and vegetable soup. Soup. They were all excellent and I ordered a whec to take home for dinner. One of my friends ordered the flight of soups as well and she enjoyed it and my third friend, she ordered a sandwich with turkey, Brie and apple along with the spicy shrimp soup. Everyone was completely happy. It was really hopping in there. They're only open for 4 hours so a lot of people come through in that amount of time. Parking is a little bit of a challenge but check Hanover Street for a few empty spots. I highly recommend exploring this place. I think you'll enjoy it too. read more

With tip ( and yes we tip 30% ) in this economy because we are blessed to pass it on but dang 60 bucks for lunch is steep ! I got the Beef on a Weck with Parmesan fries and hubby got the meatball . We did wait a bit since it was crowded but for fresh food we were willing . I was disappointed from the 1st bite - the bun top was over toasted and rock hard but the bottom had been soaked in au jus. I opted for creamy horseradish and being fresh again I was expecting a bit of a bit but it was blander than mayo . Hubbies meatball had no stand out flavor and we assumed fresh made chips if they had fries but it was bagged style chips. We got the BAD Breakfast- it was fabulous. I rarely have breakfast potatoes cooked they way I like them but they were cooked to perfection here. Tender inside, crispy outside with the skins still on. Great sausage, eggs cooked just right and the oh so cheesy grits were spot on. I loved my side of bacon gravy as well.
