The appetizer was the corn salad, fresh diced cucumber made this a hit. The miso soup was loaded with mushrooms which was great, and the broth was delicious. LA Galbi was very well made, tender with some chew, and the charred onions made this dish special, but the Kimchi fried rice was on another level delicious, rice cooked perfectly and mixed with the kimchi made every bite a complete joy. When you see on the menu the entree comes with two bowls of rice that means it's big enough for two. Enjoy, we definitely did. Top 5 Korean cuisine.

Dishes like the potato ones taste overly sweet, and feel like they weren't prepared with much care. The service is friendly, and the location is decent. However, the restaurant looks a little dated. I'd suggest some renovations or a deeper clean. Overall it's still a good spot. We visited seven months ago, and this is our second time dining here.

Apparently Sooda is really hyped on google reviews and according to some people online, people line up out the door during the dinner rush. I came here on a friday afternoon near opening time at 12 for lunch with friends. There were only a couple tables occupied at the time. My friends ordered a bulgogi platter. According to the menu, it comes with beef marinated in bulgogi sauce served on a hot plate with cheese, green onions, house made egg-rolls, corn, and rice. It's usually a whopping $49 but with the special 30% anniversary discount it was only around $35 so it was definitely worth it. Our food came in a pretty good time in about 12-15 minutes. The melted cheese was SO GOOD. I love cheese but melted mozzarella is delicious. It's divine. The beef was tasty. I like the bulgogi sauce. It was meant to be mixed with the rice and egg rolls. If you just eat them separately, it's gonna be mid because they have little flavor on their own. I like that they included some small side dishes (banchan) to refresh your taste buds, such as kimchi and pickled radish. It was well needed for such a greasy and salty dish. I really like the vibe and the staff here. They had a couple k-pop music videos playing on the TV and k-pop and pop music playing in the background. The customers at the time seemed to have a good time here. They had some 10th birthday balloons and decorations all over the dining area too. The place is pretty dark with just enough lights and the walls are black which makes the vibe kind of cool. There are some interesting looking giant murals as well Our server was in a happy mood and all smiles. She liked to joke a lot with customers which was great to see. She was happy to answer any questions we had about the menu since it was our first time there. She was the only server at the time so she looked pretty busy. She refilled our waters and asked if everything was good so we felt taken care of. She said thank you, hi and goodbye to everyone in our group as well. Shout out to Seoyoung for being a great server! Washrooms are fine. As far as I know there's only 1 private men's washroom for the entire restaurant but it was pretty clean. A bit cluttered with cleaning supplies but it was clean and spacious. 5 out of 5 stars based on this visit. The 30% off 10th anniversary discount made it really worth coming for the price I paid. I hope they have similar promotions like that in the future. More importantly, the food and staff are great so it's worth checking out.

So they went ahead and pre-melted the cheese with the chicken before bringing it to the table. Not only was this mix tasty, it was fun scoop it across for our dish. I walked quite a bit from downtown Robson and arrived, but there were quite a few customers inside the store. The most popular online Tteokbokki is sweet and salty, with an addictive taste. Kimbab was quite voluminous and I could only eat half of it. The cold noodles were no soup and had a lot of vegetables in the them. There are many other things I want to try, so I definitely want to come back here.

The restaurant itself is huge, looks like a lounge and bar but mostly empty. The staff are all dressed differently too in street clothes so its hard to tell who works there. They are clearly struggling with understaffing. We had a caucasian waitress who came by to deliver food. She was very nice and friendly. About the food. We ordered: kimchi soondubu - asked for extra spicy, it was barely spicy. beef/seafood mixed soondubu - asked for spicy, it was straight up not spicy. The broth base was the same for each, and lacked depth of flavour. The tofu itself was pretty good, silky smooth, but tofu takes on the flavours of whatever it's cooked with and in this case, not much... The beef in these was just ok and there wasnt much of it. The seafood in the mixed one amounted to 1 clam and 1 shrimp shell-on. There was nothing else in it. 2/5 for both of these. Gamjatang - medium sized portion, good for 2, maybe 3 people. Meat was ok, broth was not bad. Solid average. 3/5. banchan served with the meals were the biggest disappointment. 2/5. This might be the most disappointing banchan ive had in a Korean restaurant in a long time. They served regular cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, and bean sprouts. thats it. None of them were particularly good (not bad, just nothing great). And for a party of 4, they served a single portion of each banchan for the whole table. We had to ask for refills 3 more times. You have 4 diners, all with food that comes with Banchan normally. Wouldnt it be reasonable to bring out 4 portions of banchan right off the bat? Especially when you're understaffed? Overall: Main dishes 2.5/5. Banchan 2/5 for overall selection and quality. Service 2/5 - really comes down to severe understaffing and really poor management of how the kitchen is run. The staff there do their best but they need help. Venue 3/5. Overall, 2 to 2.5/5. This place might be the worst Korean place on the Robson strip of all the ones Ive been to. That's saying a lot, since Vancouver doesnt have amazing Korean food to begin with, and this is one of the worst of the bunch.

The food was well-seasoned. Service is mostly from the cashier at the counter, though we arrived late their day when there was very little activity in the food court, and they actually brought our food out to us. Otherwise, I think you're supposed to retrieve your meal from the counter when your number shows up on the sign. Parking in the West End is often at meters, though these can be surprisingly reasonable. It pays to hunt a bit, as cheap ($1/hour) or even free parking can be found in the neighborhood. Bottom line: We enjoyed this reasonably priced dinner and would be happy to come back.

I always order the same thing, a mixed pork offal and soondae soup. You can choose the spiciness level when you order but they also offer red pepper flakes and fish sauce on the side to add to taste. It comes in small and large, with a side of pickled radish, roasted seaweed, and white rice. Even with the small, you get a lot of meat in the hot stone bowl and it is so comforting. The offal is super tender but the star here is definitely the soondae. Pork blood and vermicelli with spices are encased in an intestine casing, making for a unique springy texture. It's even more tasty when you dip into their homemade fish sauce and the stew warms you to the bone. I love supporting small mom and pop shops, and with how tucked away this place is on the busy Robson strip, I'll definitely make an effort to frequent them time and time again. Please pay them a visit and try their unique offerings out!

trying to get a group of friends together with out of town guests isn't always easy, especially…read morewhen everyone's schedules are so hectic. a last minute decision to meet at hanwoori ended up being the perfect middle ground, with one couple even making the drive in from abbotsford. parking is a little limited, but once everyone arrived, the evening quickly settled into what korean bbq does best...bringing people together around the grill. the five of us, four adults and one child, shared combo b, which came with marinated prime beef ribs, beef bulgogi, chicken bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi, deep fried pork dumplings, japchae, and janguk (beef bone soup). we also added a seafood pancake and bibimbap because, let's be honest, it's hard to stop ordering once you get started. our server brought out the banchan, followed by the platter of raw meats, then proceeded to snip the beef short ribs into bite sized pieces with a pair of kitchen scissors, making them easier to handle, cook, and even better to eat. one of the things i enjoy most about korean bbq is that dinner becomes interactive, not just a meal. while the meat sizzled on the grill, we took turns cooking, pouring each other's water, passing dishes around the table, serving one another, catching up on life, and laughing our way through the evening. somehow, the best conversations always seem to happen around a hot grill. the marinated beef ribs were the highlight of the meats for me, tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. the different bulgogi selections offered a nice variety, while the japchae was savoury and satisfying. the seafood pancake arrived crispy around the edges, although it was a little greasier than i would've liked. the deep fried pork dumplings were the only real disappointment. the filling tasted like it was mostly cabbage, lacking the meaty flavour i was expecting. the banchan were fine, but nothing particularly noteworthy. my favourite dish of the night, though, was the janguk. rich, comforting, and deeply flavourful, it was the one thing i found myself wishing there was more of. unfortunately, our table of five was only served one small bowl each, and i honestly could've polished off another one or two helpings. by the end of the evening, we were full, happy, and in no rush to leave. while the food was good overall rather than exceptional, korean bbq has never really been just about the food for me. it's about gathering around the grill, slowing down, sharing a meal, and spending quality time with the people you're with. sometimes, that's exactly what makes dinner memorable.

Also, service is prompt, friendly and efficient. This restaurant might be difficult to get seating for parties larger than 6 without reservations. We like sitting in the crescent-shaped booths, which can only fit 5-6 people. They also serve a variety of beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). And, it appears that lunch-time might be the best time to come since they have lunch specials. We have not had a chance to come during lunch, but we will try the next time we are nearby.

Except.. step 3 only has items priced at $5. I asked if I can just omit it and they said no, it is mandatory to pick one. Why don't they just add $5 to the base cost and then make step 3 free. Adding a price make it seems like I can choose to add it or not. So now the budaejjigae is $41 instead of $36 with sides I didn't really need. Quite pricey for a very simple ingredient dish. Soup base was very flavorful but not a lot of ingredients was in it for that price point. One thing I didn't like was the buying of positive reviews. They offer you free soda/pop for positive reviews only. Parking is limited but we did find a spot on a weekend lunch.

Grandma ordered the Sam Sun Stir Fried Rice which is supposed to be a Seafood fried rice with vegetables and pork in black bean sauce, topped with a fried egg. She wasn't too impressed with this dish and honestly...I guess I can't really blame her for it. In my last review I wrote that you can't really go wrong with any dish on this menu. I take that back now. I think this is probably the first dish we've tried here that was less than stellar. There was a lot of rice in the dish, and barely any seafood in the rice. The black bean sauce was...nothing to write home about? Other than the underwhelming Sam Sun Stir Fried Rice though, I still give this place a thumbs up and would still highly recommend coming here. Lots of restaurants have hit and miss dishes. This place still serves some great food overall.

Upon getting home I opened up the food package and there is basically 3 pieces of the thinest short ribs ever. I know prices have gone up but for 3 small thin pieces of short ribs, this was a complete rip off for $30 plus 3 ban chans and a side of rice. Last time coming here as rather spend $40 and get a decent portion of LA Galbi short ribs.
