This is a great knitting store. They are very friendly and they make everyone feel comfortable. Their prices are in line with market as well as having good sales. The social knitting is great with a brunch on Sunday and a salad night on Wednesday. You are always welcome to just come in and sit and knit at their large tables. This place is always buzzing with activity, and it's got several comfortable areas to sit and stitch a while, which is nice. I can't say I buy much yarn there, though... I think maybe they try to offer too broad a selection, and so end up not supplying the depth I look for in certain areas? I dunno... I do occasionally find yarns there that I haven't seen a hundred other places before. Had to update my review after a next day email from the owners personally to find a solution. It's nice to know they are willing to address any issues and really do care about their customers. FYI, exchange policies and circumstances might be case by case, so clarify with them if you have any issues. They do want to be fair to their customers AND of course maintain a respectable business. I had left the shop with a disappointing experience the other day. Despite living an hour away, I've enjoyed making the trip to this unique and plentiful yarn store. As I'm sure others found, I was pleased to hear about their expansion to offer online orders. When I made my order and had it shipped I specifically asked if I could return or exchange since I could not see the yarn (so of us like to touch and see yarn:) the reply was, "Of course. If it's within 14 days w a receipt...etc." I made the trek out today to exchange the yarn for a different color, bc quite frankly the pictures are limited and it wasn't what I expected. I happily picked two skeins of the same company just different colors only to find out that I can NOT get an even exchange?! Since I bought the yarn over the weekend, the price is different. This seems unfair to me. And the representatives said, "it's only 14$ more." To some that's a lot of money and it only made me more uncomfortable and cheap. That's my cost of groceries for the week. The yarn was supposed to be gift, but I'll have to make due. It just makes me sad bc I don't find the desire to drive to Culver City after that experience. It's a shame bc there are so few knitting stores anymore. But after reaching out to me, I do appreciate their willingness to find a solution. Regardless of what the final outcome is, I appreciate the effort and personal response from the owners. They are dedicated to their business and their customers satisfaction. read more

The Knitting Tree has such a beautiful assortment of yarn and a large variety of gadgets; it's the best yarn shop I have found. There is a great variety of classes for all levels. I am a fairly new knitter and need LOTS of help, for which Annette is always willing to give. She is so patient and encouraging when I get stuck, which is quite often. One of the best aspects of the shop is the group of knitters/crocheters that gather on Wednesday evenings and for Sunday brunch, everyone is so friendly and open to giving advice. It's a real pleasure to spend a few hours stitching and visiting with other yarn lovers. It's absolutely addictive! read more

What a fabulous store and experience! My 13-year old son is learning to knit, found The Knitting Tree on Yelp and the reviews are accurate! The adorable store was busy when we walked in on a Saturday but it didn't stop the owners from greeting us with huge "hellos" and "how can we help?" It didn't end there. My son wanted to join one of their classes already in process and their patience and attention throughout the afternoon was extraordinary. They know their stuff and are so kind and patient. I should also mention that their products, samples and selection are plentiful! I liked this shop a lot before, at their previous location in Culver City. Now I LOVE it. The new store in Inglewood is simply wonderful, and now is my favorite LYS. Absolutely worth the 25-minute drive from Long Beach. The store is large and bright. Knitting Tree LA stocks an unbelievable amount of yarn---good yarn---patterns, and all of the other things a stitcher requires for their pastime. There is lots of inspiration to be had here! They also have the adjacent space for the Branch Gallery, where special events and exhibits are held. The Knitting Tree LA is my happy place. I'd heard all sorts of people say great things, so when I decided to learn to knit I knew where to go. I've become an increasingly better knitter (like, I can actually knit!) through the most patient teacher on earth, Annette (who's also the owner). Gathered with other beginning knitters around an antique oak table is my very favorite thing to do each week. If you've gone to the store a few times then everyone will know your name and greet you as you enter, like the bar in "Cheers." You're welcome to stop in for help when you get stuck (I call it a pity knit) or just hang out at the back table with the more experienced knitters. And there are snacks! Of course there's every knitting notion and yarn you could possibly want, and the staff are knowledgeable and oh so nice. Annette, Bruce, Jane, Lenora and Chris are the best. Signed up for the Beginning Crochet class and am happy to say it did not disappoint! This wonderful little shop has a great variety of yarns in soooo many different colors. Diane lead the class and was extremely helpful and patient as we learned crochet basics. She took the time to show me around on my first class, making sure I knew all my options for yarn and tools. The atmosphere was very very chill, which I appreciated. All of the staff were so helpful, whether I had a question about materials or needed help with my projects. 4 sessions later, I have made a scarf, a hat, and a tablet sleeve! I am looking forward to another 4 sessions. Oh and I got a discount on all the materials I purchased for taking the class, how awesome!! read more

Fantastic selection of yarn, nice and helpful staff, and open on Sundays! I really can't stress the great selection of yarn that they have. What's really great is that their selection ranges from pricey to affordable. And, the staff does not always steer you to the expensive yarns either. There have been many times that I've gone and was looking at expensive yarn only to have the employees, even the owner herself, direct me towards a more affordable option that is more appropriate to my project. The staff here also work really well with each other. I have gone into yarn shops where you ask a question, that staff member doesn't know the answer (because they are just employees and not a very experienced knitter) and then that's the end of the road. Here, if the person you ask doesn't know the answer (pretty rare), they immediately find someone who does know the answer. read more

I just started knitting again after years (25ish). I started a shawl and was having trouble so I went in for some help. Lots of wonderful friendly ladies knitting away in the store and they were more than happy to help me out. I signed up for the beginner classes and love it - I've re-upped for 4 more. Annette is so patient and encouraging. And, when I get into trouble I just go in and she is more than happy to help get me back on track.
