This was one of the top 5 high tea experiences I've had so far. Our server, Kenzie, was absolutely amazing. She had every single tea on the menu memorized along with their numbers and they have over 80 of them. She was so bubbly and kind and made the whole experience even better. The decor was quirky and cute. It had a traditional feel to it. The food was ok, it wasn't my favorite but the berries and cream dessert and the tea's were so good! We did the 2-hour service which was worth it because we got to try 5 different teas as we all got one pot each. Highly recommend going here and ask for Kenzie!

In the back of a shopping center and so cute on the inside. There's a floral cute side and a book/study side. The ploughman's plate is a great deal and very filling. The dessert plates were delicious. And of course the teas were delicious and generous portions in the teapots. Thank you Christian and Kenzie! You guys made our family girls tea experience a really special treat!

This was such a great experience. It was really nice to have a change of pace with a more traditional, formal tea service where life slowed down a bit and our group could truly relax. The time commitment is clearly communicated, and honestly, that's part of what makes the experience special. Formal tea is meant to be unhurried, and my sister--who has attended traditional afternoon tea in England--said this felt very similar. It was refreshing to step away from the usual fast-paced, instant-gratification world and take our time enjoying each round of food and tea. The ambience is warm and welcoming, and you can tell a lot of thought went into every detail of the space. All of the teas we tried were incredible, and the tea pot cozies kept everything warm so we never felt rushed. There's a wide variety of options, and everything we had was delicious. I would highly recommend The Kraken's Cup for anyone looking for a unique, relaxing experience and amazing tea and food. We will definitely be back.

I have had the pleasure of experiencing the vast tea offerings of this establishment at least 6 times thus far. Every visit has been pleasant and delightful. The servers have all consistently been well educated on the tea varieties and have always been very attentive to my needs. For those unfamiliar with the process, full tea service does take at least 1 1/2-3 hours. The beauty of that is being able to connect with your companion/s and spend quality time with them. No companions? Perfect time to delve into that book that's been sitting in your to be read pile all year. As a society that has fallen to the instant gratification wayside, this tea house can show you how absolutely wonderful it is to slow down and actually enjoy living in the moment. It's not Panda Express, so do have an open mind and allow yourself to be submersed in the company of your friends or loved ones and take the gift of time and make beautiful memories from the experience. Before you leave, do take a moment to explore both sections as there is a lot of whimsical and creative items in both the library and garden. I'm a sucker for their cucumber sandwiches, & The Beekeeper has become one of my favorite teas, although I am doing my due diligence to explore different types to record in my tea passport . The Kraken's Cup is a breath of fresh air as it is unique in its offerings and atmosphere. Bring good vibes and an adventurous mind to your reservation and I promise you will not be disappointed.

This place was beyond amazing. We had a group of 7 ladies that came and our waiter, Nemo, was really nice. While he said he was only working on 30% capacity, he was really on top of all of our orders. While he did accidentally mess up on one of our teas, he quickly fixed it right away. We tried a variety of teas. The tea pots that all came with the tea were all unique. The individual tea cups and plates were also unique. Everything was clean and the food was fantastic. While the servings were a little smaller than I originally anticipated, between the tea and the food, I left feeling extremely content. I had the garden salad with rotisserie chicken and basamic dressing was great! I would definitely came back up this way again!!

I was thrilled to find out that we have a tea room in Knoxville! I've been missing out. I went with a group to celebrate my friend's birthday, and we had a wonderful time. My GPS was kind of vague about the location, but it's to the right of the Harbour Freight back behind a plaza in the strip mall. I think the overall vibe of the place is attention to detail--The space has two sides; we were seated in a library/adventurer's club/steampunk area, and the other side looked more like a fairy garden with blue sky and clouds painted on the walls. There is a lot of detail and thought in the decor, it was fun to look around! They even make their sugar cubes into colorful shapes and have them available for purchase. They have a great selection of teas, including offerings like lapsang souchong that are out of the ordinary, as well as more popular options like chai. Nemo was our server, and he did a great job telling us about the teas and answering questions/making recommendations. He checked in on us exactly the right amount and was generally a delight. We all got the Marble Ci-tea, which included a pot of tea, a scone with fixings, a small fruit and cheese plate (which was perfect for the diabetics in our group to offset some of the carbs), and the standard tiny sandwiches and pastries. I loved that they had tea pot cozies to keep our tea warm. For the main event, we had ham salad sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, pimento cheese hummus (which was a universal hit), chicken salad in a bread spoon, goat cheese with a sun-dried tomato garnish, deviled tea eggs (my Chinese-American college roommate introduced me to tea eggs, and I was so excited to see them incorporated into afternoon tea!), a double chocolate cake bite, macarons, mini lemon tarts, shortbread cookies, and a berries and cream dessert; generally you have to pick between pastries and the berries and cream, but with so many of us they brought a little of everything and we shared. We were all very full by the end and couldn't finish everything, although I'm sure they would let you take home whatever you don't eat (we didn't have that much left to justify a box). They did offer to-go cups for the tea we didn't finish. It was a lovely, leisurely experience (maybe two hours?), and we never felt rushed. If you are taking kids who don't have that kind of attention span, they have an a la carte menu of food items, so you could just get tea and scones or whatever you'd like. We dressed up and were glad we did.

As a member of the LGBTQ Community this is VERY VERY appreciated.

My wife and I used to go to a place in Waynesville, NC to have high tea and loved it. We are so glad to have this in Knoxville. The food was good the tea amazing and so many choices. You can even get sparkling tea. The service was impeccable and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu. Highly recommend! We want to plan a group meetup here with our friends.

The Garden, and our BEAUTIFUL server Kenzie.

On a bachelorette trip and this was the most perfect spot to spend the morning with my girls. I got to spoil my bride with an amazing atmosphere and some of the most delicious food and service. Kenzie was very attentive and effervescent. I loved her bubbly personality. This is my favorite place to come when I'm in town!!!

We spent a relaxing afternoon talking and sipping tea. We were mesmerized by the tiny little oddities and antiquities strewn about the place from teapots on high ledges to an old framed stamp nestled among old books on a shelf. Even the bathroom started conversations as we would come back with tales of some eccentric decoration we had seen. Eclectic tea pots and tea cups made for an experience unlike anywhere else. We all had variations of the Ploughman's lunch. The deviled egg was divine. I can't wait to bring my tea passport back and sample more of their teas and menu items. Nemo was our server. He was very attentive and personable. We felt like he had become our friend by the time we left. The manager and the owner also checked in on us to make sure we had everything we needed.

We took our first trip Knoxville to have Tea at the loveliest place. We sipped Apple Cream Cake Tea and Peach Ice Cream Tea and had the most amazing savory and sweets!! We sat in high back antique chairs. It was so relaxing. The owner is extremely nice and staff is very attentive. When choosing where to sit, you have your choice of two different themes. This place is cute and charming and very interesting There's a story behind every single piece of decor. You HAVE to meet the tree!! It's absolutely perfect for showers, meetings and parties. 100% HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I had the most lovely time enjoying afternoon tea at @thekrakenscup today The ambience, staff, lore, tea knowledge, hidden gems throughout the rooms were all just Not to mention the finger foods and the tea itself? Personal favs for the food include the royal deviled egg (a deviled egg that has been steeped in spices and tea? Come ON ) & homemade hummus. For the tea, I enjoyed the Peach Vanilla Ice Cream & Cafe Lait immensely What a magical, peaceful place. Highly recommend.

This place tried really hard and almost made it. The tea offerings were impressive and their tiered high tea was lovely, with a variety of finger foods and savory bites. However, their teapots were leaky, to the point of adding sponge tips to the spouts, and the decor in their garden room was a bit cheesy. Our service was a bit rough, with a staff change midway through our ordering process. The sugar bowl was filled with skull shaped cubes, great for a goth vibe but out of place in a British style tea room. Overall, the food and tea are great, but everything else needs help and fast. I'd love to have a thriving tearoom in our community so I'm really routing for this place!

    Cute sugar cubes

I LOVE THIS PLACE. First of all, the location is a little hidden, it's in the small plaza nook thing between food city/harbor freight and the sports store/big lots on Broadway. Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about Knoxville's newest and best tea shop!! Kraken's Cup has a super adorable aesthetic, with one side of the restaurant decorated like a library with art from all over the world, and the other looks like a cute little underwater grotto. They are operating on a limited menu until their grand opening in a couple weeks and I'm very pleased so far. The best deal in my opinion is the Power Tea, which is a pot of tea and a scone for $7. There's nothing quite like having time to just sit down and enjoy some tea and a snack. The mock clotted cream, lemon curd, and jam of the day (I've had cherry, apricot, and one more that I can't remember) are surprisingly filling. For $29, you can get The Old City Socie-Tea, which includes the pot of tea, little bread pudding bite, scone, and a tower of treats. I found it quite filling but those with a bigger appetite might be a little disappointed at the quantity. The deviled egg was delicious and the ham sandwich- to die for! I wasn't crazy about the chicken salad on the pie spoon but oh well. You can also choose between tiny pastries and berries and cream for dessert. I'm a tiny pastry gal. For $5 more, you can get The Marble City Tea, which is the same as the Old City but with a cheese and fruit plate added. While the cheese and fruit was delicious, I don't think I will order it again. They have some lunch options that I look forward to trying, like full sized sandwiches and salads, looks like their prices range from $8-$14. The staff here is an absolute delight to talk with, I have never had a server I didn't enjoy speaking to! They also sell little passports to earn stamps every time you order a pot of tea and you can review each tea you try. I think you get something when it is all finished. They also have a cards for buy 8 pots get one free. I look forward to returning for my next pot of tea and seeing what their full menu will include!

SmashCity wasn't far off of the interstate, it had good ratings and although we'd been eating burgers and fries quite a bit on this roadtrip, a good burger and fries really sounded good. All of the reviews were right on - this was absolutely NOT fast food - it was fast, really fast, but the speed was just bonus. As we usually do, we split. We chose the Carolina BBQ smash. The burgers were juicy - if you're not careful, I guarantee you'll be wearing it. Two critiques, it definitely needed more sauce - I just added some of the SmashCity sauce from our fries and it worked but I really would have liked to have had more BBQ sauce. Second, the fried onions were quite burned. I pulled off most of them. The hand cut fries were piping hot, just the right amount of greasy and seasoned perfectly. Splitting the burger was a good call - I'd never have eaten the whole thing myself. The burger and fries were just over $20. When you consider a Big Mac meal at that clown place is $14, SmashCity is almost a bargain. Paul, the owner was like the energizer bunny - he was everywhere at once. Personality oozed from his pores. Make sure you tell him Sue said hi! (He won't remember me but just say hi anyway!) Now I wouldn't say SmashCity has the best burgers - that award goes to our friend Jerry. He makes a pretty mean smash burger on the blackstone. If you have an extra half hour, skip the fast food burger joints, get off that highway, and go let Paul fill your belly for the rest of your trip! You'll appreciate it!
