Decided to finally stop in this place for a quick bite to eat for lunch. We were promptly seated, although quickly realized that getting a spot was pure luck as it got busy really quickly. It helped that there were only two of us. I don't think that would've happened if we were in a larger group. The decor was cute and fitting, but I honestly expected more of a tea vibe. The menu is small and basic, but the food was refreshing and tasteful. I tried the turkey and Swiss wrap (grilled). Surprised that all toppings I requested were on the side as that made it messy to fix up. I also tried the stuffed pears and the Vidalia dressing on the salad is divine. Everything was delicious. My coworker recommended this place to me so on a Friday that I happened to be off work, I went with another friend of mine. I wish they were open on Sat. When you walk in, it is cramped! Lots of "stuff" which in my opinion, 1/2 of it can be gotten rid of to make more room. The tiny area where you check in is crowded as there are a few dining tables, "stuff", servers coming out of the kitchen and other people needed to check in. If you're claustrophobic, don't come here. Because it's cramped, it's loud so be prepared to try and talk over that.....which just makes it louder. LOL! Our server was super sweet an attentive. I shoud have gotten her name. They brought us out two teeny chocolate muffins. They were pretty good! Per my co-worker's suggestion, I got the chicken pecan quiche, stuffed pears and side salad with vidalia dressing. My friend who accompanied me got the spinache quich, fresh fruit and same salad and dressing I did. We both also got sweet bread which was delish! Could not put my finger on what exactly it was but it had cream cheese icing on it which is a plus for me. The chicken quiche was delicious! The stuffed pears were two halves and in the middle of each was like a cream cheese pineapple spread. It was good but I feel like the pears were too soft. I think they may be canned. I would not get that as a side next time. My friend's spinach quiche was good but we both agreed the chicken pecan was the best. Her fruit and salad were fine. I would say the biggest hits were the chicken pecan quiche and sweet bread. I would like to return and try somehting completely different. I always give place two chances to impress me. I understand you can't please everyone but if Lulu got rid of 1/2 of her dusty knick-knacks, there would be more wiggle room for everyone. Just a suggestion Lulu! read more

Let me say right off the bat that I wanted to like this more than I did. Lots of people love this place, so I was expecting to be impressed. From outside the house is adorable, but inside the rooms are cramped and the walls cluttered with an odd melange of Elvis memorabilia, sign art, Santa paintings (in April), and other random objects. The decor does not give off a tea room vibe. When we entered we were asked if we had a reservation, which we had no way of knowing we needed because the website is under construction. The hostess was gracious, however, and because they had just opened, we were given a table but told we had to be out by noon. Not a problem. Only two other tables were seated while we dined. The menu is limited, which usually means specialty items, but it's basically a soup, quiche, egg salad, or chicken salad. The food was not bad, although I expected more from a tea tier. The dessert tier had a chocolate mini muffin and a square of some kind of sweet bread with cream cheese. The only dessert they had was a blackberry cake. The chicken salad croissant was good (not great), and the portion was large. The fruit looked beautiful and included a good variety: watermelon, a strawberry, grapes, a kiwi slice, cantaloupe, and pineapple. My daughter's soft drink was served in a tea pot, which was cute. The owner and the wait staff were bubbly and checked on us frequently, and that alone made me want to bump it up to 4 stars. I love their food. Its very simple southern food. They offer things like chicken salad, deviled eggs, tomato soup, stuffed pears, and plenty more. You get a lot of food for the price. I wish they stayed open a little bit longer but they are incredible. The service is always amazing and the decor is beautiful. The restaurant is in a small house so it get a little loud and cramped but I think it id absolutely worth a try. I do recommend making a reservation that way you have a table secured. read more

I had the spinach quiche with the fruit salad and green salad sides. The quiche was delicious, surprisingly it was a pretty small piece of quiche. The fruit salad was a nice selection of sweet, and just ripe fruit, including raspberries, apples, pineapple, cantaloupe. The salad was a spring mix. The raspberry vinaigrette was perfect. My friends enjoyed their chicken salad. One of those friends was hesitant about ordering the chicken salad because it contained craisins instead of grapes, but she was pleasantly surprised. She enjoyed the chicken salad very much! I knew she would because there are so many positive reviews for it on Yelp. Service was hectic! Our waitress was completely frazzled! When she came to the table, I mentioned to her that everything would be on one check and that I would take the check. She immediately told me she would get the drink orders and we would talk about the check later, or something like that. I was somewhat taken aback, but I let it go. I really have a problem when servers touch anywhere near the rim of the glass. Being in the restaurant business for twelve years, I learned that is very unsanitary! She brought our three drinks, holding them in her hands right near the rims of each glass. Our order ended up being a "pocket order." In other words, she forgot to turn it into the kitchen. Needless to say, we were the last table to eat even though we weren't the last ones seated. I think they ran out of some foods and had to make some things that we had ordered, like the sweetbreads. Pocket orders happen, but the waitress should have told us she forgot to turn the order in. Choosing to hide the mistake is the problem. I just think communication is the key to understanding a situation. Lulu, the owner, stopped by our table towards the end of our meal. I love when an owner or manager stops by to see how everything is. It just a nice touch! It was very nice to get to know Lulu, and for her to get to know us, especially since two of us relocated from out of state three years ago. I give the food five 's, but three 's for service, for a total of four 's. We'll definitely be back because we loved the food and we loved Lulu! read more

My daughter loves tea parties so my wife and I thought it'd be a nice treat for her. As soon as we walked in, we felt at home with the atmosphere being so warm and inviting. Very friendly staff. It was terribly cramped and loud. I had the Turkey wrap, deviled eggs, and stuffed pears with a sweet tea for almost 18$, and it's definitely not worth it. Wrap was sliced deli turkey and swiss on a tortilla with a side of mayo. No lettuce, tomato, or onion. It was a small wrap. The deviled eggs were bland and room temperature. The stuffed pears were canned pears with a smear of slightly sweetened cream cheese with a few tid bits of canned pineapple mixed in. Very very disappointing. It is not disabled friendly. The stairs to enter are steep. The gravel drive is a washed-out uneven mess. The tables are crowded together, so it limits mobility. The parking situation is awful. The worst part is the bathroom. It is DIRTY!!!! Dimly lit with a cluttered storage area/shower hidden by a half closed curtain. Junk and clutter all over and under the vanity. The door lock didn't work. It had a jarred candle burnt all the way down but still lit. The sink had mineral deposits and slime in it and around handles. Oh my gosh, the cobwebs and dust globs hanging from the ceiling were so bad. I can't imagine having a business restroom like that. Cobwebs in every nook and cranny. Plus, there are no paper towels left in the bathroom. Needless to say, I will not go back and do not recommend it. read more

The chicken salad is the best I have ever had. I just love it. The place is adorable and all the food is amazing and fresh. The only down side was my lunch took way to long to arrive. The little chocolate muffins at the beginning of your meal, the warm and friendly wait staff, the peach tea, the to die for quiches and sweet breads, your choice of two side items, like deviled eggs or fruit (great value too!!), and delicious desserts (surprise pineapple cake or chocolate cream). My wife, Sapphire, knew that she was going to love this place as soon as we pulled up in her classic 1987 Pontiac Grand Am with blue cloth interior. Lulu's is a wonderful tea room located in a big ol house off of Clinton highway, which is about as far west as an ol boy like me likes to go. Sapphire got the tomato soup and a salad. The Duke picked the chicken salad croissant. I don't know what kind of mayonnaise they use, but it was darn good! Sapphire loved looking around the house at all the little necklaces and trinkets they had for sale. Luckily, I didn't have my check card with me or else ol Sapphire would've had cleaned them out. I seen some ol boy eating some kind of egg dish called quiche. According to Sapphire, they sell a lot of that stuff at tea rooms, however that's just a bridge too far for ol Duke. I ain't trying to judge the man, but what kind of fella eats something like that? Probably kind of a sissy. We used Lulu's Tea Room for our wedding cake and a grazing table. Nearly everyone from our wedding is still raving about both. The cake was delicious and the grazing table was perfect for our guests to munch on before dinner. Both were delivered and setup at the venue which took away the stress of having to worry about those things the day of the wedding. This is the perfect relaxing spot for a leisurely lunch. The owner, Lulu is eager to please. Her food is always creative, fresh and most important tasty. I have celiacs disease and need to avoid gluten. Lulu knows all the ingredients in her Foods and is happy to tell you what exactly is in there. Today I have a new experience that I have never had in a restaurant before. I had ordered the chicken salad and sweet bread that came with two additional sides and I could not eat the sweet bread because it did have gluten in it. When I went to pay for my meal, she actually took a dollar off my lunch for the bread that I could not ingest. No restaurant has ever done that before, they're quick to charge you an upcharge for gluten-free buns or bread which are usually not very tasty, no one has ever offered me a discount when I could not use the bread or buns that came with the sandwich and I often eliminate them. Hopefully other restaurants are in the area will take her lead, thank you so much Lulu, I will return and refer you often. read more

This was not a good experience! We arrived at 11am and were there for 2 hours because of waiting for service at our table. We were told there was a large catering order they were taking care of but hey, isn't that your business? We had 3-4 different people waiting on our table, none of which had any idea what we had requested from the other. This is a tea room and the cold tea tasted instant and the hot teas were Bigelow, which you can buy at any grocery store. The staff was not friendly and didn't check on our table much at all! The food was pretty good but not much quantity for the price. I will not return to Lulu's. We were told by other guests, who were also disappointed, that it is normally a lot better. For years and years I've heard about this tea room and I've been intrigued and excited to go. So when my friend told me she made reservations for us I was so excited. Unfortunately the excitement waned quickly once we were shown our table. It was a tiny two seater crammed in the corner of the entrance next to the cash register. To say it was loud is an understatement. The service was very slow and the employees looked less than thrilled to be there. My glass was empty more than it is was full. I'm giving them two stars simply because the food was good, when it finally came to us. (The soup was on the room temperature side, which I hate! I like hot food to be hot, but the flavor was good.) It wasn't anything I would suggest going out of your way for, but if you happen to get wrangled into going here, it is fine. I still don't understand why a person who called ahead would be given what appeared to be the worst table there. Oh well, I hope I'm never invited there again. We had tea with my family at Lulu's and everything was so wonderful. The food was divine! The servic was warm and gracious I ordered the tea (scones, fruit, and chicken and egg salad sandwiches) to go because my mom, sister, niece and I were headed to the Martha Washington Hotel in Virginia. When Lulu heard of our adventure she lent us a three tier dish and linen napkins to make our tea at the Martha extra special. Lulu defines southern hospitality. It's laughable to me how one can get an 100% on their restaurant score but not realize if they don't take care of their customers then they won't have a business. My friend and I had been planning a trip to LuLu's Tea Room for a a while. We had a reservation and upon checking in we were told our table was ready and then we waited 15 min in the overcrowded room where the cash register is trying to weave and bob the servers that were pushing they with food and drinks. When we finally got seated we were walked into the lower dining area and our name was quickly swiped from a table that would have been preferred to a very small two seat table. We then waited ten mins until a sever come over and during this time two other tables were seated and given drinks. When our server finally approached us for drinks and we order hot tea she looked at us like we had three heads. She threw an attitude and said it would be at least ten min before she could get us hot water. Really? This is a tea room not a cold sweet tea room. We then waited 15 minutes for a one cup hot tea pot to be delivered and had to wait even longer for the basket of tea to be brought over for us to select our tea and we were told sternly that we were only allowed to pick two tea bags. We then waited again to receive our tiered special order tray. By this time our tea was gone and we asked for more hot water and that seemed to be a problem. We finally received our order which had been Preordered when our reservation was made. They made a big deal out of their scones and one needed to reserve in advance for them. The scones were overloaded with chocolate so much so that it was sickening. The sanwhiches were mediocre at best and the fruit was so over ripened we couldn't eat it. The most insulting part of our gathering was that the minute that we got our food a server came to our table reached across me and picked up another name that was on the table then said to us we have another party coming in for this table in ten minutes. Are you kidding me? We had terrible service, weren't suppose to have hot tea, the food was terrible and now we were suppose to rush for another guest. What about us? Bad business. Word of mouth will carry this bad experience onward. The staff was not friendly and were very pushy to us. We have visited Tea rooms in the area as well as many well named tea rooms in other areas. This tea room leaves a lot to be desired and felt like pushy diner service. We will not be returning to lulus ever and I will recommend my friends and coworkers go elsewhere. read more

This is the best restaurant/cafe in Knoxville! The owner is so friendly and will do everything she can to make sure that you are getting the service you need. The food is excellent. She makes delicious desserts, quiches, and soups! I make sure to take all my friends there for lunch. My family from out of town always asks if they can go here when they come visit. read more
