So when we visited the market again I headed at to Marie's and ordered the Mac and Cheese. I was NOT DISAPPOINTED! It was soo good & the staff was wonderful! Marie was at the stand cooking smiling. So sweet! The prices are unbelievable reasonable! This place is a must try! Great prices - check Family owned- check Great taste- check & check!!! Try this place!

A week ago I stopped by the market and tried Marie's food - I can't find a menu right now - but it was juicy chicken with peppers and onions, rice and beans, and an outrageously DELICIOUS lil'-bit-spicy cabbage and greens mix. Each was fantastic on its own, but combined were an absolute treat. My list of food items above doesn't do justice to the perfect combo of savory spices. I can't wait to try the black rice and pigeon peas, or the plantains and other sides, or whatever dessert Marie has on the menu tomorrow. --LATER-- Everything was delicious again. I also tried the plantains (yum) and the banana pudding. You MUST get the banana pudding, it was so good!

I had the red snapper that was accompanied by a sauce that was out of this world! One of my friends had the snapper fried. She loved it! My other friend had the oxtails. She was very satisfied as well. The service was very good. Our server was a young lady who was very pleasant and personable. She came back to our table a few times to make sure that we were ok and to ask if there was anything that we needed or wanted. The ambiance is ok. No pretence. Just a place to come and have a good meal. Now, here's where I had my issue: I called an made a reservation days in advance. When we arrived however, we were received as if they weren't expecting us. We were asked on two separate occasions if we had a reservation. Then, a man, who I believe was the manager or maybe even the owner never greeted us. I mention this because I noticed that he went to every other table and greeted the guests. It felt as if we had crashed a private party.

And of course, I love a Haitian patê. The only downside was the fried chicken on Fritay Friday. I love fried food, it was very overcooked--where was the meat? I would NOT get that again. Service was great and the experience was exciting. The guy serving us was more like a host--upbeat, funny, and welcoming. The space is nice. It gives more of a party/club atmosphere. Definitely more than I had expected from a restaurant in a plaza.

It's not your typical restaurant they have like 2 or 3 tables but there's old men (probably family) sitting there talking in Creole. There's no menu anywhere, so if you're not familiar with the food already you won't know. The food isn't labeled and they in the tin pans. However, the food is amazing. The piklis is so good/spicy. The griot and black rice were so flavorful. I will come back. The ambiance isn't great, but the authenticity of the food is what drives their business.

It's home-cooked Haitian food, and it's worth the visit as I enjoyed my food. The service is typical of a home-cooked place: you'll get your food quickly, but this is a grab-and-go spot, not a dine-in experience. One thing to note: if you ask for anything extra, like I did for an additional scoop of rice, expect an upcharge (in my case, $5 for just one scoop). While an up charge for extra is understandable, just make sure the upcharge feels reasonable. Would recommend if you're craving authentic Haitian cuisine!

Mommie Joe's - Oxtails with black rice and onions. It cost $12 for the small and there was enough food for 3 meals. The food was great!
