I felt my original stylist, Rachel, genuinely cared about my experience and worked with me every appointment to achieve what I was going for. You can't work miracles with hair, everyone's hair is different, but when I brought in a celebrity photo/reference she did the best anyone could to mimic the color/style. Sadly, she left without forwarding any contact information, so I tried a new stylist Emily. And she does pretty much exactly what Rachel had done for me. I've been to dozens of hair stylists in my life, and I've never felt so pleased with any of them til I've gone to this place. The pricing is fair for the most part, and the salon is always clean. They offer beverages while you wait and everyone is very friendly. I've seen children, men and women of all ages get their hair serviced there. I'm happy to have been recommended it!

Lance and Jodi have been working together for 25 years and were trained by Dr. George Michael himself in NYC (the flagship store on Madison still exists). This two-chair salon is sort of a hole-in-the-wall and has an unassuming interior and exterior. It is truly the people that work there that make this so amazing. I have thick, dry, curly, brittle hair that has suffered the elements after many months of backpacking around Asia, a bunch of climates and water types, repeated bleaching/color lifting, and a complete neglect for trimming over the past two years! Really, every trauma to hair that you could imagine. I was at a point where my hair was breaking regularly and it was forming mini dreadlocks that I didn't intend for it to do. I have had so many bad or uneven haircuts in the past that I am always afraid to trust salons, which is partially why I didn't get a trim while traveling. After reading the reviews on here and on Groupon, I felt like I could trust this place to not try to push expensive products on me and actually give me a good, precise cut that would allow me to hit the refresh button on my hair. Lance was my stylist and he is honestly like a doctor for hair! We sat down and had a "consult" and he then examined and brushed out my hair, showing me exactly where the damaged portion was. We then agreed on an exact amount of length to take off the hair to restore it to its fullness. I got 6 inches off, which is quite a large amount for a long hair salon like this to be doing in one cut (but trust me, I needed it!). Lance never pressured me to take off more or less, just offered his objective opinion and let me decide. The number of times I have gotten my hair cut wet and the stylist takes off more than the agreed upon length... or adds layers that end up causing split ends...or razors through my hair to thin it out...it makes me sad I didn't know about this place sooner! Lance was SO precise with his cut, making my hair even (I really don't think it has been this even in YEARS). He then went through all of my hair and snipped off split ends and hairs where the protein chain was destroyed and about to split. I also got the "Ultimate treatment" with L'anza products which was really nice and helped bring some softness back into my hair. This is NOT your average trim, people! This is the real deal and a high-quality service with very kind-hearted, patient people running it. I cannot recommend it enough. Note to vegans & animal lovers: ALL products at this salon are cruelty-free.

My wife had color and highlights done by Edwin of Cielo By Edwin Fontanez in the fall of 2022. She…read morecame to him with uncolored medium brown hair with some gray. She presented several photographs of herself to show her goal to follow her base color with added light brown highlights for dimension. While washing the color products out of her hair, Mr. Fontanez stated that the "color pulled too red and he needed to put on a toner" to compensate. This did not work and still left a red / brassy tone to her resultant hair color. She found it strange that the entire time Mr. Fontanez was drying her hair he kept her chair turned away from the mirror so that she could not see the results until briefly when he was finished. He was also very rough with the blow dry, pulling her hair so hard that she had to stop him. She paid her bill and went to the restroom before leaving only to see her hair was red / brassy. She asked Mr. Fontanez directly, "don't you think this is too red?" His response was the lighting in the bathroom made it look that way which implied he saw the red / brassy color too. The next day she placed a call to voice her displeasure and request a refund. Mr. Fontanez refused any refund but instead offered to correct the color. My wife chose to go to another salon to correct the color because she had no confidence in his ability to correct the color when he could not get it right the first time. Repeated attempts to obtain a refund were unsuccessful with Mr. Fontanez saying he was "owed the money" regardless of the result because "he spent the time". He did not care at all about the trauma he caused but instead was more concerned about retaining payment for terrible results. Needless to say, my wife will never return to Edwin Fontanez.

No surprise, especially when he said he would have to cut so much off. Knowing the process, prepared me for what was to begin a long journey, though I knew I was 100% in the right hands of a true hair master!!! Edwin is not only a master artist of hair, but a genius of style, color, precision, and patience. His professionalism with his clients is very impressive as well. Edwin had to completely take my hair: very unhealthy, damaged from color , breakage and bad extensions from a prior salon, and attempt to begin to help repairing it and me!!! I was embarrassed to go out for several months with the old me, as I am typically in the public eye for my business. I spent over 6 hours, and two days at Cielo for the transformation, and Edwin has just given me back my life with the new color and cut. The cut was eminent because so much damaged was evidenced. The new style and cut is clearly Edwin's artistic and award winning, Edwin's own!! I was so impressed with his consultation first and his honesty. He completely under promised and over- delivered in such a positive way.
