    Walkway into the backyard

Ken, Erin, Bear, and Alonso were a wonderful team to work with! My husband and I used them to finish our 3-year backyard project. We did a lot of elements ourselves, which is why it took so long, including the deck and concrete grid, but we needed some professionals to come in and do the leveling, weed fabric, mulch, river rock, and decomposed granite. I was so impressed with Erin and Ken during our consultation. They spent an hour with us and sketched up the design we'd discussed right there on the spot. We had a few problem areas and needed to address some drainage and they were quick to listen to our concerns and collaborate on solutions. Definitely the most productive consultation I've ever had with a landscaping contractor! The whole project was done in 6 days, in 95+ degree weather! There were a few small design elements that didn't get communicated to the crew as they were working, but they were quickly addressed and rectified when we alerted the project manager and crew manager. Once the project was finished, Ken came and did a final walkthrough and we created a list of small fixes that were completed that same day. It's been about 2 months now and things are holding up really well. We are very happy!

Home Owner Beware: It's important to note that you are not hiring The Landscape Company themselves to do your job. They are simply acting as a largely incompetent intermediary mark up to the cost of your project; the work will be done by one of their 'contract partners.' You'd be better off hiring your own landscape architect (who is far better at communicating and paying attention than theirs) and bidding out your work to far more capable people. Lack of communication both with us as homeowners and within The Landscape Company abounded with our project and never improved. We fielded numerous urgent emails, calls and texts from TLC staff and their contract partner to discuss issues that had already been decided and put into the project plans. It was never communicated to us what was happening with the project from one step to the next. The WhatsApp group text in which we were included was a complete waste of time with no positive usefulness whatsoever. We were constantly repeating ourselves to people who were never paying attention from the beginning. Lack of proper onsite supervision of labor led to unnecessary damage to our property including damage to our new stucco, gouges to our driveway, crushing new downspouts, loss of personal property, and severing of a utility cable. Mike 'Bear' Baranowski is the project manager for TLC, and deserves his own paragraph. Whatever skills Bear allegedly possesses as a project coordinator are far eclipsed by his disrespectful attitude toward clients and his complete disregard of customer service and interaction. With each concern expressed to Bear, we were told that we just didn't understand: Why the plants they ordered were dying in their pots still not having been planted 2 weeks after delivery... Why the project wasn't really taking that long and that completion date promises from other staff should never have been made... Why the constant change orders due to the improper measurements taken by TLC's designer weren't his[Bear's] problem... When concern was expressed about availability of materials ordered at the last minute it was a sudden shock that they weren't available because they were "always available before." Bear always had a finger to point towards the TLC's contract partner or another method of deflection. Not once did Bear validate our concerns as homeowners and customers. He wasn't concerned that we weren't satisfied with the results when he came to pronounce the project complete; not even willing to engage in dialogue when I pointed out damages that had been done by the crew that day. Bear seemed content to leave us shoveling a small bit of leftover mulch to try and cover bare spots left on our back hillside and pondering what we were going to do with our improperly installed "stairway to nowhere." As our dissatisfaction mounted during the project, I was sincerely encouraged when I contacted the owner of TLC: He listened to what I had to say and promised that the issues we were experiencing would improve. I was looking forward to the experience changing for the better. It did not. I sincerely believe in allowing a business the opportunity to make things right by a customer. Unfortunately, The Landscape Company and its team members demonstrated via their actions and behavior that they are not only unworthy of my trust in allowing such an opportunity, they lack the ability to do so in the first place. This is not a decision I take lightly. Due to the incessant lack of communication, lack of onsite supervision, dismissal of ongoing concerns, disrespect of my wife, myself, and our time exhibited during our project, I find myself with no viable alternative other than to leave this review as a warning to others.

We had a backyard pool removed and totally transformed the backyard thanks to Billy and Ken from The Landscape Company. We had our pool filled in by their other company, San Diego Pool Demo (aka James Construction), and were so impressed by that company's professional team that we wanted to work with their affiliate, The Landscape Company. As you can see from the photos, the job they did was phenomenal! Every step of the way was easy from start to finish. They made good on every promise made in their contract. After the project was completed, they did not disappear. Any time we had questions, they were just as receptive after the job as before. That is very important when deciding who you will choose to complete your job. We interviewed many companies before interviewing TLC, and we saved the best for last because no others compared in either price or promises. We spend so much time in our backyard now marveling in its beauty. Thank you so much TLC!

The landscape company did an amazing job. Every member of the team - Rob, Ken, Mike and Gustavo were all very nice, efficient and communicated well. We got their quote to do the pavers and a fence around the pool, they started the very next day, and the job was finished within 2 weeks. It was done well ahead of schedule even after I made some changes to the plans mid project. Great prices, very accommodating, fast service and quality work. I would highly recommend them and would use them for my next landscaping job.

Ken came out to meet with us to go over our wish list and even gave us some great suggestions. We needed concrete decks and pavers to be put around our new pool and a gazebo pad. He was very quick in getting us the quotes. It was a little higher than other places but in hindsight you definitely get what you pay for. Workers were always very polite, helpful and worked hard. Our pool builder even ended up using them to do the coping around our pool and am so glad they did. I think from start to finish it all took a month. Truly couldn't be happier. Once the pool and surrounding landscaping are done I will add updated pics but here are some to give you an idea.

Thank you The Landscape Company for an amazing job on my new front yard! I had been wanting to revamp my front yard including the driveway but frankly the undertaking felt a bit daunting. Fortunately, the team at TLC made the process as seamless and enjoyable as possible. At the initial consultation, I had a vague idea of what I wanted (replacing driveway, adding retaining walls, creating planters, adding pathways and lights, etc). Cori and Ken spent over 40 minutes at the consultation carefully listening to my ideas while providing their insights. Their years of experience were readily apparent. I also got quotes from 3 other companies and while the quoted prices were comparable, I chose to go with TLC because I felt they were most committed to working closely with me to create the best yard possible. I had several more discussions with Cori and designers at the company to map out the project. By the time the project was scheduled to begin, we had a clear detailed plan of what the yard would look like. The construction lasted about 3 weeks and went according to schedule. The crew was well organized, had set goals for each day, and left the work area tidy at the end of every afternoon. Communication was easy. Whenever they had any questions about what I wanted, they would ask me directly. At times when I wanted something done in a certain way I would just tell Gustavo (who headed the crew) or one of the crew members. For example, I wanted one of the planter borders moved a few inches and another time I wanted the steps placed at a certain interval. I was probably more particular than most customers but I never got any pushback of any form. It was always "okay no problem". As with any sizable project, there were a few hiccups. But, I think it's worth noting how professional the company was in responding to these issues. For instance, there were supposed to be four of the same plant within one of the planters. However, the nursery they were sourcing the plants from only had three available. The coordinator, Mike, called other nurseries until he found one that had the plant and then drove over an hour just to get that single fourth plant. In another case, I noticed that a few of the plants did not take well to being transplanted and were fading. TLC replaced them without hesitation. What a customer-oriented business philosophy! In the end, I got a front yard that exceeded my expectations and is beyond what I had initially envisioned. I recommend The Landscape Company and encourage anyone thinking of starting a project to reach out to them to see what they can do for you. As a side note, The Landscape Company works with contractors for the construction and installation aspects of the projects. I had no problem with this and believe it's pretty much the norm for the industry, maybe due to logistical factors. I think there are some misconceptions and many people take the use of contractors to be a negative. But I think in some ways it's a positive. For one, TLC has longstanding relations with the contractors, which must be for good reason. TLC oversees the project throughout, so it's not like "okay see you when it's all done". Quite the opposite - there were regular check-ins, and anytime I had questions/concerns I could voice them to anyone involved, whether they be TLC employee or contractor. I also think it adds a second layer of accountability. If a customer were to hire a contractor directly, the relationship between the customer and the contractor would end as soon as the work was completed and the money was paid. But for contractors who work with companies like TLC, those contractors have extra incentive to do quality work and to be accountable for that work because they have that longstanding relationship to maintain.

10 STARS!!! We can't say enough wonderful things about Kenny and The Landscape Company. If you're in the market for a landscaper and/or hardscaper HIRE THEM NOW!!! They not only helped plan and implement the landscaping process, but they also installed the hardscape around our new pool. The project was originally estimated to take 4-6 weeks, but based on the many changes we made along the way it ended up taking about 12 weeks. The Landscape Company was flexible and very patient given that we are perfectionists (and probably very annoying) and made many changes to the original plan. They took all our changes in stride, and never skipped a beat. The crew was always punctual, showing up at 7AM on the dot every morning, and not to mention their craftsmanship was absolutely phenomenal. We had a lot of flagstone work where each piece had to be hand-cut and pieced together like a puzzle, and the finished product is absolute perfection. Kenny has also been very gracious to assist even past project completion, helping answer questions regarding landscaping, lawn care, etc. We are so grateful to have found Kenny & The Landscape Company to make our vision come to life. Thank you Kenny & Team. You guys are truly THE BEST.

We have recently completed a very lengthy pool / backyard project. For those who have been through an in-ground pool installation before knows the headache this can be......and that process lived up to its head-aching status believe me. When it came time to move forward with landscaping, we were first referred to another Company- and that company completely ignored my calls and messages so I went back to our pool contractor and asked for another referral. Enter Ken & The Landscape Company! Ken was awesome from the jump. Easy to talk to, he shared his opinions and helped us create a vision for what we wanted our yard to look like when it was all said and done. He came out multiple times to help us with our irrigation system at no charge and he worked with our concrete contractor to help coordinate everything prior to his job beginning. We picked out the plants we wanted and within a couple of days, BOOM! Truck loads full of trees, bushes, flowers and plants galore were in our yard. His team was fast and got down to business quickly and within a couple of days we had the finishing touches on our dream yard. We also decided to go with the new state of the art wifi-controlled LED lights and although extremely expensive, we're really glad that we did. All in all, we couldn't be happier - and the few things that weren't perfect, were addressed and rectified promptly.

    Outdoor kitchen

After interviewing and meeting several contractors, we knew we were getting a professional job done with TLC. We could not be happier with the way our outdoor kitchen turned out and would highly recommend their services to anyone. Very reasonably priced and everyone on their team was responsive and professional throughout the entire project.
