I called Kensington electric for a second opinion after I was quoted $1200-1600 for a GFCI breaker replacement for my SPA from SRP electric. Julien came out and initially quoted $300 for the breaker replacement. He also mentioned that it was a possibility that even if I replaced the breaker it may short again if there was something wrong with the spa (something SRP did not mention). After some additional investigation he replaced my GFCI breaker for $500. He was friendly and efficient as well as honest. read more

I struggled with writing this review, but felt it important to share my experience, both good and not so good. I put my project out on Yelp and Kensington was very quick to respond. Julian came right out and did a review of things that I was looking to have done. They initially replaced one outlet and then I scheduled a circuit breaker upgrade with labeling on the panel. When I asked how long the power would be off, I was told the job would take 4 to 6 hours which I planned for.Their "technician, " Danielle arrived on time and was pleasant. After having to leave to retrieve supplies from the store, the actual Work took about an hour and then it took about another 30 minutes or so to label the panel. Our quote included "precise", labeling of the panel. Unfortunately, their "technician" said he didn't have any labeling and used a blue piece of painters tape to write the descriptions on. They were very detailed. I reached out to Kensington to let them know I didn't think paying for precise labeling included labeling with blue tape. They sent out a technician the next day who had some labels with him and attempted to label the panel. Unfortunately, some of his labeling was different from what was on the blue tape. He seemed a bit confused about how to label things. I did reach back out to Kensington to let them know what had transpired. I understand their quotes include a flat rate, but when you're quoted for something that is expected to take 4 to 6 hours that actually only takes an hour it kind of makes you wonder. My review is not to recommend or not recommend, but just to share my experience. Like I said, they were responsive to my concerns. However, they weren't able to make them satisfactory. read more

My day started off with the police and SDG&E knocking on my door early in the morning. Apparently there were sparks or something flying from a pole on my street. The police shut down the street in front of my house. SDG&E dude showed me where some wires were touching metal on my house. See picture. I didn't know what to do so I called a good buddie of mine who's an electrician but he couldn't help me till later in the week. But the power was off to my house. I knew wifey was not gonna be happy. I went on Yelp cuz that's what I do when I'm in a bind. Help has their system where they will send you five referrals. One dude called me right away. It was Anthony. He asked a few questions and said he could be at my house in 20 minutes! I said let's do this. On the way home he called me with SDG&E on the line. We spoke three way so I could approve clearance for them to release info to Anthony. We got more info and by the time I got home here was there. He gave me an estimate and some different options. I chose the cheapest most affordable and speedy option. He also had a SDG&E insider who gave us more background info. He went to get some materials and started the job. I had to leave for work but my wife was home so gave her a check for the job and took off. Power is back on and wifey is happy. This dude is fast and efficient. Professional and knowledgable. I will going back to him when I add a new junction box and wiring for the house. I want to upgrade to 220 for future projects. read more

I can't recommend Joseph from Residential Electric Consultants enough. After a rainstorm, our power started cycling on and off, and we were in a pinch Sunday morning trying to save breast milk in the freezer. Joseph, the owner, (the only one of several electricians in San Diego we contacted that were supposedly 24/7 who responded) even though we weren't in his service area. He called back genuinely concerned, saying he has kids himself, and offered to drop everything, leave his family on a Sunday, and come out to us. When he arrived, he explained the issue in detail and even refused payment when he saw the situation we were in. Who does that these days? Since then, we've had him back for other electrical work, and my husband and I are continually impressed by his professionalism and knowledge. He's thorough, explains everything, and everything is done clearly and above board--no "cowboy" behavior here. At this point, we feel like we've found a family friend. I had a broken underground wire that powered my backyard shed. Kensington Electric provided me with a quote to replace an existing transformer that powered our patio and outdoor heater and to run a new wire from the transformer to the shed. Unfortunately, the heater was incorrectly wired and was not functioning after the installation. When I contacted Kensington Electric to address the issue, they insisted that everything was wired correctly. I had to reach out to the original heater installer, who came out and resolved the issue caused by Kensington Electric's error. However, Kensington reimbursed me for the cost of the second electrician and everything is now working great. Kensignton is a reliable company that makes sure the job is done right. read more

I had multiple outlets in my home go out and so I set up a job request on Yelp. I had a few places text me with quotes to come look at the issue, but when Kensington electric called they said they would come out for free to find the issue because most of the time it's a tripped GFCI or something else very simple. John Iribe came out and after I explained to him that I found the GFCI that needing to be reset and that all of the outlets are back on, he still took the time to look at the outlets that went out and answered all of my questions.
