Based on the high ratings, I expected a much higher level of professionalism and service. My 12-year-old daughter wanted a small section of her hair dyed bright red. Before booking, I called the salon for pricing and was initially quoted $100. Shortly afterward, I received another call informing me that the original quote was incorrect and that the actual price would be $120. While I wasn't happy about the change, I agreed and proceeded with the appointment. We showed the stylist a picture of exactly what my daughter wanted. However, when the coloring process was complete, her hair looked almost no different than before. The final result had nothing to do with the photo we provided, and the color was barely visible. As disappointing as the result was, the biggest shock came when it was time to pay. Instead of the agreed-upon $120, I was told the total was now $395 for a small section of colored hair. The salon simply decided to change the price without any discussion or approval from me. I paid because I did not want to create a scene in front of my daughter, who was already upset and disappointed with the outcome. After I expressed how unhappy I was and stated that I would be sharing my experience, the salon refunded $195. Even after the refund: I was still charged $200--$80 more than the agreed price. The hair color does not resemble what we requested and is barely visible. In other words, I paid $200 for a result that is essentially invisible, while my daughter left disappointed and upset. I genuinely do not understand how a business can operate this way. Changing prices without customer approval and delivering a result that does not match the requested service is completely unacceptable. Very disappointing experience.

Long review: I had a 12pm appointment and showed up at 11:57, only to find out that the person I had an appointment with, was already in the middle of a long hair color removal process. This was my first time at this salon, and I didn't "have to have" that hairstylist... so I didn't mind when I was told that a different hairdresser would take care of me. The new hairdresser was also busy and in the middle of a long blow dry, so I am not told to have a seat for my hair color until 1.5hrs later... on top of that, I am also being juggled between other people coming in for blow out, highlights and keratin treatments appointments. It was extremely infuriating because I only needed a root touch up and mild lightening . I'm being timed based on her other appointments (or possibly walk-ins?) and, I'm being TOLD that after my wash she would do XYZ (instead of DOING XYZ)... so I had long wait times between each hair step as well. For example, after she did my highlights, I am not told to wash my hair until after she's done with another client based on her timing (not my own), and the person assigned to wash hair is also a cashier, roller, etc... which means that she also needed her sweet time to come wash my hair; after my hair is finally being washed, she made several stops to obtain other clients payments, etc... and when I'm finally clean, my hairdresser is in the middle of doing someone else's hair so she doesn't come back for another 20 minutes to apply my toner. After my toner is applied, I'm told I'll keep it on for 15 minutes, but again, she goes back to doing other clients hair and that's when I'm extremely pissed and asked someone else to wash off my toner after waiting 25 minutes. Mind you it's 6:26 by now. Almost 7hrs!!!! I was not in the mood to be seating again for 30 minutes before my haircut/blow dry and I decided to leave. I would say the cumulative in-between wait times total would be at least 3 out if those 6.5 hrs. Although I didn't get my haircut or blow dry, they still charged me for the full service and only removed the price of the blow dry but I was in such a rush that I forgot to reclaim that I did not have my haircut so the discount should have been even more. I have had much more complex hair coloring before but I've never had to be in a hair salon for almost 7hrs. At the end of the day, my roots are still dark and the highlights are not exactly what I asked for, but I was charged considerably more than I have ever been charged at a hair salon in downtown Manhattan for less time, one on one treatment and more complex hair coloring.

I came into HBB on a Tuesday late afternoon as she was finishing up another client. She profusely apologized and told me to take a seat and grab anything I wanted from the mini fridge. Once she was done, we chatted for a bit and then she sat me down in the chair and drew out how eyebrows would look (I dId show her a picture so she had an idea). She said she could go ahead or I could come back. I told her to go ahead with the whole thing and we picked out the color I wanted them. She then applied some numbing cream and waited 20 min. The procedure itself did not take that long. 20-30 tops. It hurt a tad bit at first, but then I was fine. When she showed me the final look, I actually gasped. I was (am) so speechlessly happy. I am sooooo very glad I did this. I feel like it brought a new look to my face! I loVe the way I look and would highly suggest the procedure and this salon to anyone! It is located in a downtown area so parking can be a bit trickery. There is some paid meter spots in the area and I was able to park in a little ally way right next to the shop. I am not sure that it was legal, but I was not ticketed. I did not have to wait when I arrived. I was seated right away and the party began. The shop is very clean and the staff is supper friendly. I got the slushy pedicure and it was amazing. It starts off as a regular pedicure, but then the slushy part comes in. They add something to the water to make it look like a slushy. It is warm and feels like you have your feet in mud. It felt really good. After that the tech finished off my feet with a massage, clean and dry. It took about an hour for the whole thing and cost $45, not including the tip. I really enjoyed my experience and everyone should have a slushy pedicure in their lifetime. I highly recommend this place. In addition to the slushy pedicure, they offer full salon services such as manicures, nail painting and nail filling.

I went for my first ever wax appointment and made it very clear to the specialist. She barely spoke to me- I didn't even get her name, and I was so horrified throughout the whole process!
