My husband and I got married at The Lasker in 2020. Before we even finished our weekend, we had decided that we wanted to have our 5-year anniversary party in the same spot! When he says he'll care of everything, he absolutely means it... Richard is one of a kind! We brought 12 friends down to Galveston and rented the house for the entire weekend... Our crew was absolutely blown away by how much attention to detail was put into every aspect of their stay. Each of the rooms has such a distinct personality, and the charm of the old house is put on full display to shine through. Richard checked in with us a few times during the evening to make sure we had everything we needed. On Saturday morning, breakfast was served and WOW--Logan knows his way around the kitchen. Our friends were so impressed with the food and even requested the recipes of a few items. When we slipped out to enjoy the Strand for a few hours that afternoon, Richard and his team refreshed our rooms. We decided to host a dinner with more guests Saturday evening to celebrate 5 years, and that went off without a hitch. Cocktail hour with the famous Lasker charcuterie board was enjoyed by all, and the barbecue spread for our main course was absolutely delicious! As an added treat, Richard had a miniature version of our original wedding cake for guests to enjoy. It was a hit! Sunday morning breakfast was just as delicious as Saturday's... Logan's famous hangover hash was gobbled up, and the yogurt parfaits hit the spot. We can't say enough about how much we love The Lasker, Richard, and his entire team... From the time of our arrival till the day we left, we felt like honored guest of Richard and The Lasker Inn. Staying at this historic again is like living briefly in the history of Galveston. The home is well preserved, decorated with antiques and the hospitality is outstanding. it is sometimes used as a wedding venue however we were lucky enough to sleep in the bridal suite, and enjoy our time it was comfortable beyond belief and the morning breakfast is were outstanding. What an amazing weekend! We decided to host an Afternoon Tea during Dickens on the Strand during the first weekend of December 2016 (not during the redo event the next weekend due to the rain and flooding). I was blown away by the communications, the care taken by Richard the Manager, and the fabulous food! From the initial interaction we had with Richard when searching for a venue for our Afternoon Tea, through the planning, and the official event he seemed to have as much fun as we did. We got a lot of no answers from other venues when we requested accommodations and variations and Richard gave us yes answers at every turn! We loved the venue so much that we will be returning in the future! If you are ever looking for a venue or bed and breakfast that can provide you with the ambiance of a historical home and actually *be one* I will tell you hands down to go no where else! read more

I originally scheduled to stay here after the place I wanted to stay seemed unavailable (that was in walking distance of my business event). When I found that I could indeed stay at the other hotel and canceled my reservation here, the owners made me an incredible offer. They invited us to stay as their guest, for free, for 2 nights after our business event as they wanted me to see their property! So we moved to this location once we finished. What a place to unwind after the long hours we'd worked! This is an absolutely gorgeous mansion! There is lots of history here and the owners did a splendid job renovating the place, and they obviously spent a lot of money. The attention to detail is impressive, with fresh flowers and house plants throughout the house. There were 3 fresh flower bouquets in crystal vases in our room. Beautiful art and carved antiques that fit the style of the home adorned walls and filled the rooms. It is beautiful and elegant, but not over-the-top or stuffy. Other special items: a little bowl of dark chocolate in the room, turn down service at night with more chocolate and a chilled carafe of water with refreshing lime, a towel warmer in the extremely spacious bathroom, and a walk-in closet that was the size of some hotel rooms. The owners, Richard and Linda, take great pride in the place and are warm and welcoming. They could not have been more gracious, and they exude charm and southern hospitality. Linda's fabulous breakfasts are some of the best I've enjoyed at a B&B (one of the things I love about B&Bs), and her version of French toast is more a cross between a bread pudding and custard. It was heavenly, drizzled with a fruit sauce and then topped with a fruit puree mixed with cream. Breakfast was served on beautiful dishes, and even the dewberry jelly was made by the owner's mom, right down to picking the berries! You can sip some complimentary wine or beer at the bar and catch some football action with other guests, and snack on goodies on the bar while chatting with Richard, serving as bartender. You're encouraged to help yourself. They were particularly accommodating in that we had about a dozen boxes that we had to ship back home, and they not only allowed us to keep the boxes there till the shipping service could pick them up, but Richard helped me unload them from the car. There is WiFi, so we could finish up work. The hosts had excellent suggestions on places to eat and things to see, and pointed out places where locals go to eat, and not the tourist traps. We will be back in Galveston again, and this time we won't stay anywhere else! Room Tip: From what I could see, all rooms are beautiful and spacious suites. You'd be happy with any one. read more

Richard is the most personable man I have ever met! Marrying the man of my dreams could not have gone wrong but having our special moment at The Lasker Inn made it perfect. There are no words to describe how wonderful our wedding weekend was. I attended my brothers wedding this weekend at the Lasker Inn. I have to say it was something out of a southern living magazine. Most of our family traveled from all over to attend and since this was his chosen venue; we were all lucky enough to stay together here in this magnificent bed and breakfast. First let me start by saying that this place does not disappoint on character and charm. I enjoyed exploring this place immensely. Each room is unique and full of history and beauty. I really liked the rooftop observation deck that allows you to gaze out over Galveston complete with views of the water. Each room was well stocked with anything a guest would need to be comfortable. Richard our host went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. He was easy going and made us all feel so welcomed and at ease. I felt more like I was a guest in a long term friends home, really he's that good at making you feel welcome and cared for. He surpassed all expectations all while managing all the details of the wedding weekend (and I mean ALL of it) and creating DELICIOUS breakfasts for a full house! The ceremony was elegant and well coordinated with high attention to detail. I genuinely left this morning wishing I had more time there. We all enjoyed it so much in fact that my siblings and I are thinking of planning a reunion there next year. If you're lucky enough to be getting married or you're just looking for an extremely friendly, beautiful place to stay (or both) in Galveston this is the place to go! Beautiful venue inside and out. Like a movie set in authenticity as a turn of last century deluxe mansion in our very own Galveston Island paradise. I had the pleasure of being a guest here for a reception last night. I love the place. I'm such a fan of old construction. This place has beautiful wooden floors throughout the place. I didn't make my way upstairs to the bedrooms that I heard about. It's a great, cozy, beautifully decorated place to have a small gathering. The staff were all pleasant. We just got back from a trip to Galveston with two of our granddaughters. We spent two great days on the Island with many great activities and plenty of good food. However the highlight of our visit was our stay at the Lasker Inn. Over the years I have stayed in some outstanding Bed and Breakfasts through the United States, but the Lasker is the best by far. In fact, calling the Lasker Inn a B&B is understating the experience. I learned that the Residence was built in the late 1800's, and has withstood many powerful Hurricanes with no structural damage, so it was definitely well constructed. The property consists of a two-story inn with lovely wrap around porches and a very pleasant outdoors garden area. The first level consists of a beautiful entryway, a large living room, a breakfast area, a bar and an event area, which is most often used for wedding ceremonies and receptions. All of these rooms are tastefully decorated with fine furniture and beautiful artwork. The bar is fully stocked with a wide selection of beverages for the young and old, along with a variety of snacks. The guest rooms are upstairs off of very wide hallways adorned with tasteful artwork. The rooms we had were enormous and beautifully decorated. Each of our rooms had a large bathroom and a walk-in closet and included all the little extras you see in Five Star properties. Richard, the Innkeeper and Manger of the Lasker, was the consummate host. He greeted us upon our arrival and gave us a complete tour along with the history of the Inn. He answered all our questions and anticipated our every need. We had some relatives and friends meeting us the first morning, and he arranged for them to join us for breakfast at the Inn. He also was keen to give us suggestions about activities and restaurants. The breakfast prepared and served by Logan, the Chef, was outstanding. The selections ranged from lighter fare to hardier choices. The choices included many traditional items and some new creations. Everything was excellent, including the jellies made by Richard's mother. Logan was very attentive to our needs throughout the meal. There was plenty of food, so no one went away hungry. The breakfast room is perfect setting with a plenty of natural light and spacious enough to move around easily. During the day and in the evening, we basically had the run of the place. We were free to roam around, spend time in the bar area and just enjoy hanging out in the beautiful living areas. The Lasker is very quiet and peaceful in the evenings so it is easy to enjoy a good night's sleep. Richard told us the Property gets booked early for weddings and special events. In fact some weddings are already booked 18 months out. He makes all the arrangements for weddings and can help groups plan their stays and special events. He cautioned us to book early for weekend stays. We certainly will be coming back to the Lasker, and I expect that many in our family will make it a destination trip for years to come. This B&B is great - I really recommend it for anyone looking for a great place and great hospitality in Galveston. My girlfriend and I are young professionals in Houston and I was looking for a nice and romantic place to go for her birthday (and not too pricey). The Lasker Inn was a perfect fit. I was worried about B&B's being too drab and old-folky but the Lasker Inn and staff made us feel right at home, and had great recommendations on fun places to go around town. The room was beautiful, well kept, and impeccably clean - and big! we could spend time in the room as well go downstairs and socialize. The house is perfect, but the staff and owners make the place. When we came home that evening there was a perfect flower arrangement and big cupcake to celebrate her birthday. The flowers and cupcake must of cost about 20% what we paid for the room...It was above and beyond, all provided complimentary. You can tell that they are truly focused on making sure you have a great time, not on making a buck. The happy hour with appetizers, drinks and an breakfast are incredible and also make the stay worth it. I will not hesitate to recommend the Lasker inn to family, friends and co-workers. I left this bed and breakfast feeling like I got so much more than I paid for, they created such a great atmosphere for my girlfriends birthday - truly a worthwhile experience! read more

The staff is amazing and make you feel so comfortable and welcome.....it isn't a hotel feeling where the front desk watches you walk to your room and back out....it's actually your home for the weekend!!! The antique furniture is so beautiful and gives the feeling you have stepped in to a past era.....and the history of the property is so interesting!!!! I also really enjoy the fresh FULL breakfasts that are served every morning in the dining room! You don't get the boring eggs and bacon only....each time I have stayed we are served delicious gourmet breakfasts. The linens on the bed are so comfortable and the rooms are kept in pristine condition. This place is just amazing and I hope to be there again soon! read more

The Lasker Inn is home away from home for our family! We have stayed in several hotels on the island, then a friend suggested we try The Lasker Inn. We did and have been back 4 times since! We won't stay anywhere else now that we've stayed at The Lasker. The staff there are the kindest people and are sincerely concerned that your accommodations are just right and you are comfortable and have everything you need, and then some. The morning breakfast is incredible. They offer a variety of breakfast items so there is something for everyone, and lots of it! The location is perfect as well - a few blocks from the beach in one direction and a few blocks from the Strand in the other. You are close to everything! The Lasker Inn by far is a jewel in Galveston! It's very classic with a southern twist. I had the privillage in staying there in October. I was told by my wedding planner that this was the place to be....and it was. It was more than what I expected! We were greated with warm smiles and great southern hospitaility. The room we stayed in was clean. We had our own bathroom which was very spacious. We did have an issue with the toilet however,the manager said he would take care of it. When we went to lunchand came back it was fixed and had no issues after. The manager was very inviting and made us feel at home. Lasker Inn was just a walk to the beach but still central enough to get to downtown and cruise line terminals. Our host was very knowledgeable about Galveston and all the nice eateries around town. The staff was awesome and the breakfast was the best! Southern cooking at it's best!!! The Lasker Inn was the first Bed and Breakfast we have stayed in and now we are hooked! You have stay at the Lakser Inn at least once to get the true feel of this Jewel near the sea! read more
