OK, can I start this five star review with the margaritas? The albondigas soup? Maybe, but really it's the waiters. I haven't seen them in at least 15 years, when were they last at Whizens. Nothing has changed, they're still magnificent! So is the food. It would be hard to have a bad experience here. The margaritas are really spectacular and in every other restaurant, I would order salad as my starter, but here I will always order the albondegas soup! Really good mexican food tonight. We walked into the place around 4 and it was not busy so we sat in the bar. Haven't eaten here in over a year. Thought to try something new for an early dinner. Decor is standard for a mexican food restaurant. We ordered a two taco plate and verde carnitas plate. Both were really good and well portioned. Only negative was in my opinion wish the prices were somewhat less. I just regularly eat and compare to other options in the area. Salsa at table with chips was great. Overall was quite good. I should've went next door to Taco Bell for a better tasting dinner. I'm not trying to be a jerk -- it's obvious this place is (or has become) extremely lazy when it comes to the quality of food. The quality of food makes Taco Bell seem premium. It's offensive when a venue is charging over $25 a plate and gives zero Fs about presentation, nutrition, basic decency of ingredients. I wouldn't feel comfortable serving these dishes to anyone. If I accidentally made something this terrible at home I'd throw it out. To give an idea of the audacity of what they think they think they can charge vs what they are deserving of: I ordered a side of pico de gallo that they are charging $4.25 for. A salad dressing sized ramekin of onions with three specs of tomato showed up next to me. Insulating. Honestly I can't say enough bad things about my experience here. read more

I love this local spot in our community, the servers are my absolute favorite and when you add a margarita to the mix it all just makes sense. Having gone here numerous of times, my favorite is the Chile relleno, but the three mini chimi's, burritos, deans beans, or tacos are all good grub too. I love the food and drinks here, super expensive now but you get a good amount of food. Last time I was there it was a sunday 3 margaritas and 2 dinners. I looked at the amount $101. And change. Sometimes my fiancée and I go dutch. So we split the check. I did not think to check the total again but each of our amount were $52.64. The food was okay overall. The enchiladas were good, but the rest was pretty average. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Our server was not very friendly, and communication was difficult as they didn't seem to fully understand English or respond clearly. We were a party of seven and ordered quite a bit, but it seemed like our server got annoyed when we had to ask for things multiple times. I also noticed them making faces when I requested drinks and water without ice a couple of times. Overall, the food was just okay and the service was poor, so it's not a place I would return to. read more

This restaurant is rather peculiar! 10 people walked up to door at 8:33pm and they were turned away! If they would have arrived 3 minutes earlier and that happened....I would have come unglued. What restaurant turns away good business because they arrived 3 minutes late! "F" this place and their stupidity! I was really disappointed with my recent experience at Latigo Kid. Our server greeted us warmly and immediately asked if we wanted margaritas. My husband and I don't drink, so we ordered Cokes instead and from that moment, the energy noticeably shifted. It felt like because we didn't order alcohol and our bill wouldn't be as high, we were given less attentive service. On top of that, my food was inedible....I was genuinely surprised it was brought out that way. It's like hitting the jackpot. And let's not forget about those corn tortillas that are expertly folded and sometimes ripped for that extra touch. The salsa with no taste is just the cherry on top. I've been coming here since I was a child and I admit I'm emotionally attached. The food is old school- big, greasy and delicious. I wish they had chicken breast. The burritos come w sauce on top (not sure why people complain about that) and I think it's fantastic. The beans are legit, refried! And yes the salad that comes w the entree is iceberg lettuce and an olive, but it's not a salad restaurant! lol. It's just an old fashioned kind of place. We love coming here. When you're at Latigo, you feel like family. There are other Mexican restaurants in the area but they are loud or the margaritas are not good or you're just another customer.... Kindest servers I've met in a long time. Fresh but bland guac, needed salt. Beans, shredded cheese sour cream all mediocre. Ordered shrimp and steak fajitas that were doused in some kind of Italian tomato sauce. While I'm not in the food business I suspect they doused the fajitas to cover the fact that the proteins are not grilled on the skillets. Small tasteless shrimps. The meat in the beef fajitas was tough and tasteless. The side salad was sad, wilted lettuce, basic and poorly plated. Not appetizing at all. On the bright side, the margaritas were nice and strong.
