Todd M.

Really good mexican food tonight. We walked into the place around 4 and it was not busy so we sat in the bar. Haven't eaten here in over a year. Thought to try something new for an early dinner. Decor is standard for a mexican food restaurant. We ordered a two taco plate and verde carnitas plate. Both were really good and well portioned. Only negative was in my opinion wish the prices were somewhat less. I just regularly eat and compare to other options in the area. Salsa at table with chips was great. Overall was quite good. Thank you.

$4.25 of onions aka a side of "pico de gallo"
Yolanda M.

I should've went next door to Taco Bell for a better tasting dinner. I'm not trying to be a jerk -- it's obvious this place is (or has become) extremely lazy when it comes to the quality of food. The quality of food makes Taco Bell seem premium. It's offensive when a venue is charging over $25 a plate and gives zero Fs about presentation, nutrition, basic decency of ingredients. I wouldn't feel comfortable serving these dishes to anyone. If I accidentally made something this terrible at home I'd throw it out. To give an idea of the audacity of what they think they think they can charge vs what they are deserving of: I ordered a side of pico de gallo that they are charging $4.25 for. A salad dressing sized ramekin of onions with three specs of tomato showed up next to me. Insulating. Honestly I can't say enough bad things about my experience here.

Mariachi's playing

Wow, what a fun Cinco de Mayo. The mariachis were playing the food as good as ever and a very welcoming home like service experience.

A greasy, half cooked Quesadilla

I was really disappointed with my recent experience at Latigo Kid. Our server greeted us warmly and immediately asked if we wanted margaritas. My husband and I don't drink, so we ordered Cokes instead and from that moment, the energy noticeably shifted. It felt like because we didn't order alcohol and our bill wouldn't be as high, we were given less attentive service. On top of that, my food was inedible....I was genuinely surprised it was brought out that way. Unfortunately, I won't be returning and am still on the search for a great Mexican restaurant in the area.

The food here is just average. Drinks are strong. There are just better options for Mexican food scattered all around the local area!

The entire crew is awesome. The Chile Relleno is the best I literally carve for it once a month.

I'm so glad I came back--it reminded me why this has been one of my favorite local restaurants for years. From the moment we walked in, Sammy took great care of us. We wanted to sit at the bar, and she made sure we got seats right away. Throughout our visit, she was friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Service like that makes a great meal even better. The tacos were absolutely outstanding--fresh, flavorful, and every bit as good as I remembered. And the margaritas? Still some of the best around. It's hard to beat great tacos, an excellent margarita, and top-notch service all in one place. Sometimes you forget just how good a restaurant is until you go back, and that's exactly what happened to me. Los Agaves hasn't missed a beat. Great food, great drinks, and outstanding people. I

Service... if you like no follow through and people who can't look at you while speaking to you, maybe it's for you. None of the soda fountain was working, they knew about it, and multiple people said they'd bring me the soda I paid for, and it never happened. Back to the counter to get a refund. You'd think if they knew sodas weren't streaming they'd either stop letting people purchase or refund proactively. They don't. Bizarre concept, will never be back. Plenty of Mexican places with great service and food.

Great!! Great food. Great Margaritas…read more. Great people!! I specifically love their soup.

"Sancho"--a name whispered with a grin or a wink, often referring to the side piece, the other…read moreperson, the indulgence you're not supposed to talk about. And in a way, that's exactly what El Sancho Cantina is: an escape. A secret. A little taste of something else. Whether you slide in for lunch, happy hour, or dinner, El Sancho is where you come to cheat on your routine. Tucked into Thousand Oaks, it's a getaway hidden in plain sight. Sit at the bar, let the cool breeze drift through, and allow the Spanish ballads to work their magic. For a moment, you'll forget where you are--and believe you've wandered into a dreamy cantina somewhere deep in Mexico. Start with the "El Viejo"--their riff on an Old Fashioned. Let the applewood smoke swirl above the glass as you lean in. The aroma hits first, then the deep flavors of añejo tequila and Mexican whiskey settle in with smooth confidence. Sip slow. This isn't a race--it's a seduction. If you're looking for something a little lighter--a healthy balance between indulgence and intention--try the two taco plate with the green salad substitution. I went for one Potato taco, one Shredded Chicken taco, and swapped out the rice and beans for a salad of mixed greens and cucumber, dressed with balsamic vinaigrette and a squeeze of fresh lime. The flavors were bright, clean, and satisfying. I walked away full--but not heavy. If I was meeting my Sancha after, I could've easily gone for a stroll. Maybe even dessert. But don't let me lead you down the wrong path--the tacos and cocktails are already all the temptation you need. And if that post-lunch lull starts to creep in, fight back with the "El Cafecito"--a soulful wake-up call of Licor 43, Kahlúa, cold brew coffee, and chocolate bitters. My personal pick over an espresso martini--bold, smooth, and unapologetically delicious. So yes, you might be cheating on SoCal for an hour with Mexico vibes, but El Sancho doesn't judge. In fact, it invites you back--with open arms, a strong pour, and just the right amount of trouble.

We ordered and were disappointed that the seafood cocktail did not taste fresh and my husband returned the dish to the kitchen. Our server apologized profise and staff was very accommodating. we still left a 20% gratuity, as it was not the wait staff person's fault. Another issue we experienced was the bar had a private party, which was fine, however the noise level from the mariachi band was way too loud and none of the patrons could enjoy their own table conversations. If yo're going to shut down the bar on a Saturda, please take into consideration all other patrons in the main dining room. I am open to going again for drinks and appetizers at the bar, however, I should not have to tell the wait staff to charge us accordingly what the menu offers.
