We live down the street and love being able to walk here. I stick with the basics which is the breakfast burritos and an off the menu San Diego style burrito with carne asada, guac, and pico. Reminds me of college. Parking can suck when it's busy so be aware. Our favorite thing is that the pizza joint next door has a huge TV so we can get our Mexican food fix and watch a game from Esquina's patio. They also do a happy hour so it's been 4 dollar beers, and 3 dollar tacos. Can't beat that deal. But this is another one of those places that doesn't advertise it on their website which is why it's NEVER busy for happy hour. read more

I was having my car serviced at the VW dealer which is across the street, so I stopped in here for lunch. It was pretty empty when I arrived, just before noon, but it got busy very quickly as the lunch crowd came in. After I placed my order they provided me with chips and salsa. The taco was very crunchy with adequate amounts of cheese and lettuce. The chile relleno was filled with cheese, and really good as well. Finally made it into La Esquina Mexican Grill and I'm happy I got to finally try them and to support. Been finding lots of great taco spots in TO lately and this is another solid option. First off the decor and atmosphere was 10/10. Loved that they have a cozy and comfortable outdoor covered patio. I ate outside and it was lovely. Also indoor seating options too. Small space but they make it work and the patio is where it's at! I also love that aside from parking on the street of TO blvd they do have about 5-6 designated parking spots in the back that they share with the pizza place. I'm a sucker for a private parking lot vs busy street parking so another small win. Staff were friendly and kind. Gal working the register was all good vibes and the gentlemen that brought my food out made sure to let me know where I could find the silverware and extras once he saw I was missing it (my first time here so I was learning). Staff were working hard and keeping the place clean, nice people. The food was good but not 5/5. I'd say the food ranged from 3.5-4 stars, which still isn't bad. I'd come back. They have a large menu and lots that sounded tasty. I went with the street taco plate. I absolutely loved the rice and beans! Solid sides. The tacos were also generously loaded - you get bang for your buck here because I was super impressed with how packed with meat the tacos were, so that was a bonus. Also, they didn't up-charge for the guacamole topping, which was nice. I got Carnitas and Al Pastor. Both were good, but I'm also really picky with both of those proteins. Some other bonuses worth mentioning is they give complementary chips and salsa and I was pretty much obsessed with their salsa! I can't handle heat, but I do like a good salsa and finally, I found one here that was very mild, but super flavorful. Also good Jamaica too. I've never left a review here before because one of the ladies who works here has always been incredibly kind and welcoming. That's honestly the main reason I've held off, despite having a couple of disappointing experiences over the years. Everyone makes mistakes, and I completely understand thatespecially when someone is new. I ordered a burrito but was accidentally given a quesadilla instead. When I pointed it out, they apologized, explained the employee was new, and made me the correct burrito, which I appreciated. What I didn't appreciate was finding out the next day that I had been charged for both the incorrect quesadilla and the burrito I originally ordered. Mistakes happen, but customers shouldn't have to pay for them, especially without being told. Looking back at my statement, I ended up spending over $72 for just two burritos and two Jamaica drinks, which is already expensive. Then finding the extra charge afterward made it feel like I was being taken advantage of as a young customer who might not notice. Whether it was intentional or not, it left a really bad impression. Unfortunately, it feels like this restaurant has been on a declining trend lately. I genuinely hope this was just an oversight and that they make it right, because I'd much rather be leaving a positive review than this one. read more

First time here for breakfast but I LOVE rolled tacos so I got both. Everything was very fresh. Rolled tacos were cooked perfectly, nice crunch but the meat wasn't dried out. Fresh guacamole sauce and freshly grated cheese. Green salsa was perfect. The green salsa definitely added flavor and complimented the tacos. Red salsa was too hot for me. Both are definitely fresh. Chorizo burrito was massive. I was already full but the few bites I had were delicious. Everything definitely felt homemade and not canned. Only 1 guy working when I arrived at 9am. Later a lady came in and gave the extra service checking on me and getting me a to go container. Inside is kinda small. Just a few tables. Very clean and simple aesthetic. Tried La Esquina Mexican Grill the other day and it was... okay. I ordered the protein plate, and since they serve chips and salsa when you dine in, I had to opt in (because that's basically mandatory lol). The chips and salsa were a nice touch and a good start. The service was okay, but not super warm. I asked for a suggestion and there was a little hesitation so not rude, just noticeable. I feel like greeting customers when they walk in and having a more positive attitude while taking orders would go a long way. Food-wise, it was decent but not amazing. The meat wasn't seasoned as well as I personally like, especially for a Mexican spot in California where the competition is strong. The rice and beans were good, though. The fixings that came on the plate with the guacamole (lettuce, onions, tomatoes) didn't seem as fresh as I expected, especially since I went around lunchtime. Ambience-wise, it's a simple setup... limited seating inside, but plenty of outdoor seating. Nothing fancy, just small tables set up for two. Definitely seems like a solid quick lunch spot if you're in the area. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't memorable either. They place is awesome! Was working in the area temporarily and came here for lunch at least 4 times. That's how good it was. Each time I came by I got the rolled tacos or the crunchy tacos and they were so good! The shredded beef is the meat I ordered in them and they were so flavorful! The review about the woman passing gas after eating here is laughable. That's not the restaurants fault that's a you problem get your fiber up! First time here cause my coworker was raving about this place, we called ahead of time for pick up and I drove my happy self all the way from Agoura Hills for our lunch. It's a solid burrito that will get you full and taste good, it's not my favorite (royal egg is mine) but good enough not to be disappointed as a first timer. It cost $13 and fed 2 adults. I ordered through the yelp app and grubhub fulfilled the order for pickup which cost $13.40 but when I went to get a receipt inside the store, it was $10.71 so make sure you order directly from them. This place is always a solid recommendation if you are look for some quality Mexican food either morning, noon, or night. Worst carne asada fries I've ever had (from a born + raised southern californian who has had many)!!!!!
