Decided to take our daily walk to a local place and try something new for brunch, have heard a lot of good things about Luna Liena and we were not disappointed. Our server was friendly and happy while seating us ready to take our order. We tried the tostada which was probably the best tostada we have had so far, a hot freshly made tortilla bowl is made for each order (so it takes a little time) but it is generously filled with plenty of amazing ingredients and served on a shmear of their house made refried beans to hold it in place. Definitely worth the short wait to get this delizioso dish, and you will leave the table with a full belly. I tried the soft taco combo served with house made refried beans and rice, plenty of choices for meats when ordering. I went with the El Pastor and the Chorizo and potato. Both were very tasty, the El Pastor very tender and moist while the chorizo and potatoes very moist and not greasy. All dishes were reasonably priced and all in all worth the 3.5 mile round trip walk. Great way to spend a Sunday morning and support our local businesses. Was so sad when they closed the location in Simi. Recently discovered that they had this location in Moorpark. I was overjoyed. I had not had my favorite salsas and shrimp burrito in 6 years. It was every bit as good as i remembered. The enchiladas had the perfect home cooked feel and taste. Pastor Taco . Don't come here if you're looking for some gentrified lame Mexican joint. Love, love, love this family owned place! We used to go to the one in Simi but they closed down. Been meaning to go here and finally went 2x last month. We have been sitting outside to enjoy the nice weather. So onto the food- The ceviche is delish! Even ordered it both times. We went here for Taco Tuesdays and you can't go wrong with your choices. I usually get asada, pastor, birria, shrimp and/or fish. Horchata is refreshing and not too cinnamon-e! Leslie was our waitress both visits. She is very attentive, sweet, and always has a smile on her face. Can't wait to go back and try other items. My friends and I went Luna Llena to have Mexican Food. The four of us ordered a burrito, A combo fajita plate with chicken, beef, & shrimp, a fajita plate with chicken. Both came with veggies. We also ordered happy hour drinks and were all happy with our food. The flavors were all delicious. The music was nice. All the customers seemed happy. The servers were amazing. Second time here, both delicious. This is a Mom and Pop with a very casual ambiance - requisite Mexican music, random collection of tables and chairs. Who cares! Come here for the food. Came here. I tried the place at simi valley once . I was reviewing Mexican food seen the hard shell tacos and had to come here. It's a nice hole in the wall place , looks like an old home. Very nice outside, inside it's a little run down. The bathrooms mind of smelled. It felt like home though, parking is hard I parked in the back. The waitress was so nice and cared about us very attentive only another family there eating. We got chips and salsa it was good the salsa , the tacos and enchiladas were good , I can't complain. Waitress was sick got me a lil nervous. Maybe she should of worn a mask. This is a weekly go to place for great Mexican food. The Luna Lena salad is so delicious and shared as part of an appetizer only because it's a must have and need room for chips and guacamole and tacos!! After the last time going here a couple of years ago we had bad service so we decided to try this place again. Visit #1: (4 stars) food was good and happy hour ceviche was delicious. Enjoyed the three item combo which is a tasty and the price was great! Service was good as well. I had a corona and the girlfriend got the white sangria which she enjoyed. Visit#2 (2 stars): food was good but the service was bad.). They should have another server. Also girlfriend's sangria was not good (tasted like a shot of white wine added to water and soda). It turns out they don't have the license to serve tequila and they make their drinks using agave wine. Margarita tasted ok but not the same as a regular margarita. We got the ceviche again and the queso fundido (both were delicious) Really want to support a local place but the last visit put us off. read more

I recognize that this is a small family owned establishment and they try hard but the two times I've been there I've found the food to be mediocre and the service acceptable but not great. Also, we've never been to a Mexican restaurant where they charge for a basket of chips and salsa! Drinks and queso fundido is a must-try! This little quaint restaurant tucked away in Moorpark is sooo good. The mango margarita, which is actually made with agave wine, is absolutely delicious. The Micheladas are made with a proper rim - chamoy and tajin. (You rarely get that) And my Mom's white sangria was refreshing and the right amount of sweetness. Strolled across from the train station, due to delays, and was pleasantly surprised by how incredibly delicious the food this little gem whipped up. I had the Machaca and my girlfriend has the Croissant sandwich. We were both very very happy with our meals. I can't forget to mention the fresh salsas they brought out. I think their salsa verde is to die for. The service was very nice as well, kind and everything you could ask for. We sat outside on a cool, late morning and felt very at peace. Huge fan of both Luna Llena locations. The wife and I have favorite dishes at each location. Here in Moorpark the Molcajete Supremo has been our favorite for years. We decided on that tonight in fact and made the drive from Simi. Place was dead and we got right in. We ordered the Molcajete and some ceviche too. The ceviche was amazing. The Molcajete was not what we had grown to love. The beef was tough and had lots of gristle and that magic flavor we have grown to love was just not there. It was not really bad, just not what we were used to. Definitely no longer worth the drive, the pot was about the same as the one in Simi where before it was way better. Too bad too, this does not help make our dining decisions any less complicated. I feel like we've lost an old friend. read more

Went here for the first time after searching "veggie burrito" in Yelp. I found my new favorite vegetable burrito! It has spinach, peppers, mushroom, rice and onions accompanied by two delicious salsa. The service was good, you could tell the veggies were grilled to order. First and foremost, the woman who helped us was wonderful! Leslie was so very kind, professional, helpful, accommodating, and a great listener. Our party had numerous dietary issues that make eating in a Mexican restaurant challenging. None of our issues fazed Leslie. She was all about saying, "no problem, we can do that". And she was full of suggestions to help us as well. Once we got our food, we had to take it to go for two different families, we went home after delivering to the other family. Our food was delicious! We were so surprised how much we truly enjoyed everything we'd ordered. I called the other family to ask them if they were enjoying their meal and yes they were also really happy and said their meals were amazing!! One of us is gluten free, one of us is vegan and finding vegetable and dairy free options at Mexican restaurants usually can't happen, except of course, for rice and beans. But even in that case, a lot of places use animal products in their rice with chicken broth or beans with lard. This restaurant covered all the bases, and all of the food was perfect; perfectly prepared, fresh, and delicious. One of us had pork, one of had chicken, one of us had fish and one of us had vegetables and it was all great. I can't recommend this little restaurant enough. Where do i even begin? First of all, do yourselves a favor and find somewhere else to eat. From the customer service all the way to how the food was, I would give this place a negative star if I could. FOOD WAS TERRIBLE!!! We ordered just some artichoke dip and 2 enchiladas that came with beans and rice. We asked for it to-go. We waited about 15mins with no one else in the restaurant. We were handed the food as quickly as if she was trying to get rid of it. The bag was soaked in a sad watery mess they call artichoke dip. The soupy artichoke dip had no artichoke in it and was put in a box you keep french fries in. Rice was so salty. The best thing was the warmed up beans that came straight from a can. Customer service was TERRIBLE!! With no customers in the restaurant, I would expect someone to clean the dirty tables that were left in front of me since the moment I arrived. To start off the service was great. The waitress was super kind. The food was okay. Nothing special. I got the chicken burrito, no cheese, add guacamole and it was subpar. It's wasn't anything special. The wrap job for it wasn't good and it fell apart instantly. The chicken was mostly tendons and fat chunks. I ate maybe 3 pieces in the entire burrito. The rice and guacamole was very good and authentic. There was supposed to be pico in the burrito but I think they forgot, so instead of making it again they put it on the plate on top of salad oddly enough. The ambiance and service was great. I would give the food 1.5 stars but the service made up for it. I've gone on here before for drinks and those were great. Definitely get the margs. read more
