First pull of the mower cord this year ended in ended with the mower not starting and the cord not retracting. After hours of trying to coil the spring, I figured I'd try The Lawn Mower Shop on Union Ave.(Rt28) Bound Brook. Nice lady made a repair tag and knowing that everyone was starting to use their mowers, I asked if it would take long. I was told it wouldn't take long. I guess a week isn't long to them. I paid $20.00 plus tax, reassembled it and gave it a pull and the mower started but the spring didn't retract. I got half the yard cut. I brought the broken part back to the mower shop and then I was told that it must be the starter clutch causing the problem. They took my broken recoil. I waited almost two weeks without a call. They did nothing. I agreed to buy a new starter clutch from them. Another week goes by and they haven't done anything and they tell me I have to pay for the recoil to be rewound again. I went back and pick up my broken parts and my yard looks like a jungle. The only nice thing I can say is that the counter staff was courteous and professional. I had a terrible experience with the "lawnmower Shop Inc" that I used for my power washer repair. I brought my machine in to get the pump fixed, which was under warranty, but unfortunately, the service was unbearably slow. I had left the power washer for about 4 weeks with no feedback. I decided to call to find out if they had made any progress. I was shocked to learn that no one had even looked at my machine, there was no update, and the staff seemed disinterested in my situation. After a while, I began calling them to follow up, but no one responded, even after leaving multiple messages and texts. Finally, after weeks of trying to get in touch with them, a female representative answered the phone. However, she was rude, unprofessional, and unhelpful. She didn't even bother to check my customer number and immediately stated that my machine was not under warranty because it was too damaged to be covered. I informed her that she was mistaken and was confusing me with another person's machine. I explained that it was impossible since my power washer was in mint condition, except for the pump that needed repair, which is why I brought it in. However, she was non-apologetic and showed no interest in getting my information. When I informed her that it had been weeks since I had dropped off the machine without any feedback, she said that it takes six weeks to have it done. When I told her that they had my machine for six weeks already, instead of apologizing, she rudely suggested that I should pick it up if I didn't want to wait. Despite my repeated attempts to contact them, I did not receive any replies to my messages, and the staff seemed indifferent to my predicament. As someone who relies on my power washer for my job, this was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. I made it clear to them in texts and voice messages that my power washer was an essential tool for my job, but still, no one bothered to reply. After multiple attempts to connect with an associate, someone finally called me to pick up my machine. When I went to get it, I was told that the vent cap was missing, which I do not believe to be the case. Even if that were the case, my machine is under warranty, they could have simply placed a vent cap on the machine and included the $5 on the bill they were going to send the company. Overall, I would strongly advise against using "The lawnmower Shop Inc." for power washer repair. The service was painfully slow, the staff was unresponsive and unprofessional, and the entire experience was incredibly disappointing. Do NOT go here for service. While yes they did fix my lawnmower. It took over 2 months to do so. There was zero communication. I would reach out constantly to ask for updates. They do not answer the phone, the voicemail box is full, and i was left only a text message option. Originally i was told "a few days" which turned into nearly 2 weeks before i received a quote / diagnoses of the problem. From there it was an additional 8 weeks to get my mower back. The lack of communication was very disappointing, especially since they are very expensive, charging $95 an hour for labor. I would not recommend anyone going here for equipment service. read more

Called a month later and the woman I spoke with said it would take 2-3 months to get parts (if you can believe that). I have been trying to reach them monthly since then. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Stay away from this place. Dropped my mower for warranty repair on June 12th 2023. It has been a nightmare! no call or text ever returned for 1 whole year. During the past year, I drove over 1 hour to visit the shop twice along, but was told to contact manufacturer (Ryobi ) directly as Ryobi has all my info and there was a delay by Ryobi for not sending part. However, Ryobi never received any order from this shop and has no record of my mower. For my issue, Ryobi also tried to contact the shop to figure out what's going on, but the shop never returned any phone call from Ryobi. Also, Ryobi denied the shop's description of not sending parts. After 12 months, I had to come back to take the unrepaired mower to another Ryobi appointed shop for service. The shop was hostile when I was trying to get my mower back, saying it was my fault to order a junk product. The same day, I met other customers who get the similar treatment! I dropped off my Ryboi Electric power washer in Sept 2022. After several weeks of no call backs, I decided to contact them to find out the status of my repair. The lady that answered said she would call me back with an update. A few weeks later, still no call back. I've reached out to them again and they said a replacement unit should have been delivered to my home address. I told her there was no replacement unit that was sent over. She then said she would look into it and call me back. Still no call backs and no responses for this store. It's been 5 months now and I still do not have an answer or update on what's going on with my repair/replacement. One star too many.... Not unlike other reviews, my repair which was under a Home Depot extended Warranty, wound up to be a replacement. But; getting to the happy conclusion was an ordeal. In addition to the phone calls and email, I felt compelled to go there twice to see if I could get a straight answer on the status of my pressure-washer repair. I might have believed the excuses if they had actually called me back as they had promised on two occasions. I wound up having to call Home Depot (Asurion) to have them find out what was going on. I was referred to this business by Simpson as an authorized service center location. This referral was by the support line who I described the issue and they said it was still under warranty and that I should take it to them for service. I brought the unit in and was given a receipt which clearly states Inlet Pipe Broke, Warranty and purchased from Sams club. Was told it could ba a week or 2 before it was repaired. They called me back and said that Simpson was not covering the unit and that they said I owed them a diagnostic fee. For what, they visually saw the unit when I brought it in, I told them it was broke, and showed the broken piece. Now they are holding my power washer hostage, and wont return it unless I pay them a fee, that they never disclosed or discussed with me. Needless to say the fact that I am taking the time to write this should tell you that I am pissed. I called Simpson and they have been trying to advocate on my behalf, but they don't return their calls, and in fact they haven't been getting any customers voicemails for at least 6 months because the mailbox is full. To add insult to injury they said the cost to repair is more than the cost to but new one. Needless to say, this is a matter of principal and one of my companies great benefits is a Legal Plan which allows me to pursue this matter for the cost of a couple of stamps. I figured I would try and support a small business, rather than go to big box places all the time but never again. My husband bought a small ride on for his business but needed parts to fix it. We ordered parts were told they would be there in a week, after 2 weeks of waiting my husband went down was told they hadn't arrived yet. He asked why they hadn't at least followed up and they had no excuse. After about a month of this game, we ended up selling the tractor and purchasing something else. After about 2 months we found the receipt, my husband went down and got a refund. Terrible customer service - we went back to buying our blades at the depot and parts online. I should've taken the numerous reviews as an indication of the type of ripoff operation that they are. Left my snowblower for maintenance on Oct 25th, was promised a diagnosis within 3-4 weeks. After many calls and visits, I was given an estimate after two months, to do the (necessary?) work, totaling $264, and told to give an additional deposit of $100 for a total of $160. I needed the issue resolved and told Laura that I would stop by to give the additional deposit. To my surprise due to COVID issues (although understanding) the place was closed from 12/25-01/04. I sent two emails requesting the service to be provided and to inform how I could make the payment since the store was closed. NO reply. On January 5th, I stopped by and was able to make the additional payment of $100, while requesting a promised return of the snowblower in writing. Surprisingly, they wrote "within a week". WOW. Three days later, I received a call telling me that the original diagnosis was wrong, and to be able to fully repair the machine it would be too costly to do so. Nearly three months from drop off date, I was back at where I started. This woman, Laura is a liar, unprofessional,manipulative and no social social skills whatsoever. All I can say is that they will sharpen your lawnmower blade very well. I brought my mower there because the governor wasn't working correctly and the engine was racing. I tried to explain the problem to the fat, Buddha-like man behind the counter (who was not wearing a covid mask although dire warning signs about customers wearing them were posted by the door), but his attitude was don't-tell-me-my-job-you're-stupid-we'll-do-what-we-have-to-do. I also tried to tell him that the oil and spark plug and been changed, but he didn't want to hear that, either. So I got it back, brought out by a very nice repairman, but it ran exactly the same, the rpms racing away and it would not idle. I also found that they had put the wrong spark plug in it, but hopefully the correct oil. As I couldn't wait another two weeks to get it fixed correctly by them, I just have been running it, wearing hearing protectors, because the high rpms make it REALLY LOUD. Thanks a heap, Buddha. I am only selecting one star because it wont let me select any less. I should have looked at all the negative reviews before leaving my snow blower there. I also should have noticed all the signs hanging in the shop pointing out "no refunds, you will be charged $5 per day if you dont pick up your machine in 5 days, if we don't fix your machine, you still owe us for putting it back together, no discounts......." They charged me $65.00 to look at my snow blower then told me it would cost me $375.00 to change the carburator that costs $70.00. I tried calling for 2 full days and got no answer but only a recording that I could not leave a message. Their website states the hours clearly yet they told me that no one answered the phone because they are closed on Wednesday and on other days they are so busy that they just cant answer the phone. Terrible service, terrible people, terrible experience. Finally picked it up and took it to another repair shop and they said it simply needed a clean out and the worst case would be a carburator replacement that would cost $190.00 at most. If you are going to do business with this company, be assured of two things. First, get an estimate in writing. Next, be prepared to have your old lawn cutting company come and do you lawn while you wait and wait for your lawn tractor. I did not get an estimate for a drive belt for my lawn tractor. When I got it back, over 2.5 weeks later, it worked but I had to have a lawn guy cut my lawn twice while it was in the shop. Add that $130 to the, are you ready, over $330 to replace the belt. Granted the pick up and delivery were $60 of the total. So that means a drive belt with labor cost $270 plus the $130 for the lawn cuts. Go somewhere else cheaper and quicker. read more

I Definitely do not recommend this shop, specially when it comes to them ordering parts or accessories for you. I had ordered a snow blade, wheel weights, as well as wheel chains for my tractor for the snow. They said I'd have it within two weeks tops. The two weeks passed and i call requesting the status of the order and they said it's not there yet and that I'd still have to wait. A month goes by and when I called again they said that my order was still not there yet. considering we've had our first snow storm a couple of days ago and I didn't have my snow blade for my tractor, what use was i getting out of a 400$ product i never received. So i requested a refund and one of the associates questioned me saying "why?" I couldn't have made myself clearer, I didn't want the product anymore since i had never had it in the first place. I had gone back to the shop and asked for my refund and I was promptly given my refund. There was no apologies, no "it wont happen again" nothing. The guy made it seem like it was MY fault I wanted a refund for a product I never received. overall, you're better off going to Lowes or home depot. read more

So my neighbors recommended the Bound Brook Mower shop as my 15 year old snapper was in need of repair, so I went to see them and immediately was impressed with Laura's knowledge as to what the problem was with my ride-on so I made an appointment for pickup. Since I had three days before pickup I went on- line and decided to read the reviews, wow big mistake, immediately the sweat started pouring down my forehead and my teeth began to chatter thinking omg this is the place that's picking up my mower they sound like a nightmare as some had such negative comments. Long story short, I almost canceled but relied on my neighbors recommendation, glad I did, it turned out they were awesome they were super pleasant and reasonable and it wasn't long before I got it back, now the best part "IT RUNS" so don't hesitate to use them and disregard all of the negative stuff, actually they deserve 10 stars but its off the chart. After taking my unit to another repair shop and having no luck. They were able to get it up and running and has been working ever since!

I purchased several items from this shop last spring. At the end of the season I purchased a snowblower and when it was delivered I sent in my lawnmower and new edger for service. I grilled the young guy about if my stuff would be left out in the rain awaiting service. He assured me "no" this would not be the case. I even called in and spoke with one of the two ladies who run place and confirmed that my machines would not be sitting in the rain. Again they assured this wasn't the practice. Well sure enough when my machines arrived it was so easy to tell they had been outside the whole time. Some many of the metal parts of the mufflers and screws for wheels were all rusty now. The extremely bright Ariens orange was even faded a bit, as was the top cover of the air filter. The deep black color of the cover is now grayish on the top, obviously from being left outside to bear the elements for a period of extended time. Not only were they left outside against my wishes, but they were left outside for some considerable time not even covered. I don't wanna be a pain but, my machines were brand new never have been left outside. I only use them for one homes care. I would been happy to do the servicing in a one day process that we could have set up in advance. I will post pictures of some of clearly rusting parts for you to examine for yourself. Keep in mind these parts had zero rust on them before. I pride myself on keeping my stuff in fantastic condition, I always have. After every use I wipe the machines down and these machines were in near perfect shape and were never in a rainstorm AND CERTAINLY DIDNT HAVE RUST ON THEM IN ANYWAY. I mean lets be clear I paid two hundred dollars for end of year service and requested my machines not be left outside, (told they would not be multiple times) or otherwise I would schedule a day to bring in the machines in the morning and pick them up in afternoon. So theres is nothing more for me to do now except not purchase a generator from them liked plan and worn others. It is probably the fluoride that made them loose their morals and business ethics. read more

Let me start by saying i rarely write reviews. But in this case my experience was so horrific I felt like i had to say something. I dropped my lawn mower off there right after the Thanksgiving holiday. I told them i thought the blade maybe bent and it needed a tune up. They came and picked up the mower and 2 weeks after pickup they still hadn't looked at it. I stopped by the store because they never answer the phone, and talked to one of the girls in the front, and was told it would be looked at that day. I had to call again to get a status and was told the blade was bent and they had to order a new one and it wouldn't be in for a few days. I called back again to find out when the mower would be fixed and was told someone would call me back because there was not status update in her computer. the woman said she would call me back. i refused to hang up and told them i would hold. Was told she would have to call me back because "there was alot of stuff in her way" i said agin i would hold. After being on hold for 5 min. i was told that they had no idea when it would be done.. This is for a simple blade replacement and tuneup. I told them i wanted to speak to the technician. I was put on hold once again for 3-5 min.. Some came back on the phone and told me the technician couldn't come to the phone but my mower would be fixed that night and delivered the next day. I have never seen such poor customer service, and that's being kind. I will NEVER bring another piece of equipment to their shop again, and i feel that i need to warn everyone out there not to bring anything there because they do such a poor job. O.K. An update..... On Friday, 8/3/2018, I got a call from the Bound Brook Mower Shop that my mower repair was complete. I picked up the mower on Friday, 8/3/2018. Took the mower home and.......... Started right up, ran like a new mower. Would I go back here...... Yes. It is convenient, and the work seems to have been done properly. The young ladies at the counter were friendly, and helpful throughout. I may originally misinterpreted the original 'two week' timeline to mean it would be finished in two weeks, but, whatever. I brought in my tiller to get repaired on 4/18/16 .They require a $35.00 non-refundable deposit just to look at your machine. I said ok because I needed it repaired. After I paid the $35.00 they then tell me it would be 2 weeks before they can work on my machine. I wish they would have told me that before they charged my card for the $35.00 I would have went some where else. I wait the 2 weeks and call to check the status of my machine. No one answers and I leave a message on their answering service. I wait 5 more days and no call back. I call again and I get the answering service but I cant leave a message because there is not more room on their voice mail. I wait another week. I call back again same thing no answer and cant leave a message. I call back the next day this is now a month since I dropped it off. Again no one answered the phone and cant leave a message. I said to my wife I am going to go there the next time I am off. To my surprise later that day I received a call from the shop. They gave ne a quote of $250.00 to repair my tiller it needed a carburetor, some cleaning and a new fuel hose. I was appalled, I can buy a new tiller for a little more that that price. I expressed my disappointment to the desk clerk on having to wait so long to get a call back and the price of the repair quote. I couldn't believe her reply to me. She actually had the nerve to tell me I shouldn't have waited this far in the season to get my item repaired and I wouldn't have had to wait so long. I told her I have no problem waiting your stated time of two weeks but its been a month and I called several times and never got a response. She then told me they are short handed that two of their counter people quit. I said I understand that but a phone call back only takes a couple minutes. She then says why don't you come and work here and you can help us get caught up on their calls. I couldn't believe how rude she was. She tried to make it seem like its my fault. I wasn't having it and I let her know I was going to write a review on Yelp and she said "go ahead that's what everyone is saying" that tell me this is happening to several customers. I told her I don't want the work done the price is ridiculous. She says you have 5 days to pick it up or I will get charged storage fees. I went to pick up the machine 2 days later and it was raining. They have a ton of customers machines sitting out in the rain. I couldn't believe it. I had to wait 25 minutes to get service to pickup my machine. There were only 3 customers in the shop and 2 clerks one was sitting in the office and the other was helping a customer. The phone was ringing and no one answered the phone or even made an attempt. A food delivery guy came in with food and that is when the person in the office got up was to get her food delivery. At that time I asked her to help me with my machine. She did help me and went to get my machine. When I got my machine it was ripped apart and this is their policy. If you don't have the repair done they do not reassemble you machine. I had to wait almost 25 minutes to get my machine after arriving in the store. I did demand the clerk give me a print out of the repairs needed. It said I needed a new carburetor, new fuel hose and needed to be cleaned. When I got home I realized that all the parts were not there. There were screws missing that held on my air filter compartment. I went online and ordered a carburetor for $13.00 I was able to change the carburetor and clean the machine myself in less than an hour and they wanted $250.00 for it. That tells me they get paid more that $200.00 per hour for repairs. The service and repairs are ridiculous. I tell you all to avoid this repair shop at all costs. They are nasty. The service is terrible and they should be ashamed at the prices they charge people. I didn't even need the fuel hose. I put the carburetor on and cleaned it in less than an hour and the machine started right up. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! read more

I was told that the damage to my mowers blades was not under warranty. So without telling me a head of time they replace the blades and re leveled the mower deck. The mower deck has been an issue from day one and my lawn is now at least 1/2 inch shorter on the right side of the mower then the left when I cut it. Thank you for leveling the deck! . read more

This place is horrible. They held our lawnmower for 9 days before they could even tell us what the problem was. That didn't leave me very confident of their ability to actually fix it. Combined with the fact that their customer service and attitude are absolutely terrible, I decided to take my lawnmower elsewhere and I'm glad I did. I've gone here several times for parts for my mower and snow blower and have had great experiences. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and very willing to help with suggestions on how to repair a problem rather than demand I bring it in so they can fix it for me. They keep most of the parts in stock including older model carb rebuild kits so I'm usually able to drive over, grab my parts, and be home making my repairs before long. I brought a power washer to this place in mid February before a string of storms that probably kept them busy. I had an awful customer service experience. But I would like to mention some things that might help them. I needed to have the pump replaced on the washer. Though I am not a mechanic, when water is spraying everywhere when you run a washer, it makes sense. So, I actually diagnosed the problem myself. The problems began before I even left the store. First I called the place and I was lucky enough to talk to a person. A small miracle. They said yes they do fix power washers! So I brought the unit in. Yes sir I forgot to mention the $50 diagnostic fee even though you told me the pump was bad (yes so you are trapped now if you get a bad vibe about the place even). So I left the place and over a week later I had to place multiple calls before someone would actually pick up to tell me they hadn't looked at it yet to even give an estimate. Then after several more days I left more unreturned messages to get the estimate. Then the individual told me for power washers they take another $100 deposit because some of them end up being abandoned. My trust in them at this point was waning, but, what to do? Take my card number and wait if I abandon the thing, why distrust customers who pay you?? So I show up three hours after they are open and some mechanic is clueless about where the front desk person is, so of course I can't give HIM the check. So back home I go. A week or more goes by, I leave a message on a Saturday to find out what is going on, and Friday another message saying I left a message on Saturday so please call back. Nothing... So you know how your kid is on the toilette with their phone for 45 minutes not budging but if you say you're getting pizza the toilette miraculously flushes? On April 2nd I called and got in contact with a human being. After a ten minute hold they told me they would fix it the next day. I came in a couple days later to pay and pick up my unit. I told them that I had called multiple times and literally none of my calls were returned. The person there explained they had been swamped with chainsaws, snowblowers, and generators and that by the time they get to the answering machine at the end of the day its too late to return calls. Well as a customer that says that I don't matter. Owning a business is rarely an 8 hours a day gig. She told me I don't have to come back if I'm not happy with their service. I recently had my Husqvarna chain saw serviced here. My saw jammed when I tried to adjust the chain before I released the break. There is a statement about this in the manual, however, I inadvertently had the break on making it impossible to remove the chain cover. This happened to me about 2 days after hurricane Sandy hit NJ and I was desperate to have it fixed ASAP. I took it to the Lawn Mower Shop and was greeted warmly and professionally. There were quite a few customers in the store who were also in need of service due to the storm. I was asked if I could leave the saw and they would try to have it fixed that afternoon. I was sympathetic to the fact that they were busy with repairs because of the storm so, after I did not hear back from them that day, I decided to wait a day to call and inquire about my saw. On the second day I called and I was assured it would be ready for pick up in 30-45 minutes. When I picked up my chain saw it was clean and ready. I was charged what I considered to be a very reasonable price for the repair, especially in light of stories about other businesses exploiting the storm. Prior to visiting the Lawn Mower Shop, I had done business several times with a different repair store closer to my home. This other store, however, did not seem to care about customer service or having repairs done anywhere near when they promised. The Lawn Mower Shop was completely different that the other store with customer care in the two times I used their service. I am a small business owner in the landscaping indusrty. I figured I would give The Lawnmower Shop an opportunity to PROVIDE ME THEIR SERVICE. I figured I could order the parts on line, but I would give them a chance and pay their (higher) prices, in exchange for their SERVICE. I have ordered parts from them on 4-30-2014 from counter person Jessica. I have stopped in twice since to ASK THEM if my parts have come in. I never received a call from NO ONE, not even to tell me they were back ordered or when they are EXPECTED in. If this is the way they run their business, I can not imagine what their SERVICE DEPARTMENT must be like. I regretfully will not be using THE LAWNMOWER SHOP INC for any reason. At this point and time, I am still waiting for the parts I have PAID IN FULL. read more
