I will start this review off by saying that my hubby and I will disagree on the star level here. I did not grow up in town and so I think part of The Lemon Drop charm is lost on me. It's a cute little old diner with loads of nostalgia going on. They have a toy train running all the time around the perimeter above your head and sitting at the counter is pretty fun. The grill is out in the open so you watch them cook your food. If you like onions (and who doesn't??) definitely order an onion burger. It's two thin burgers stuffed with cooked onions. I also like fresh raw onion on top of mine, because the more onion the merrier. The hubby loves a legit Vanilla Coke, and this is about the only place in town to get one made with axial syrup. He says they rock. Basically, if you like a cute (somewhat kitschy but not in a bad way) diner, check it out. read more

Great divey diner! Pros: friendly staff, nice grungy lovable atmosphere, good food for a decent price, fast service. Cons: VERY small, they don't serve a large variety of food (man I would love it if they served diner breakfast food!!), don't serve pies. This place would totally be more awesome if they sold good homemade pies. read more

Delicious food. The burgers remind me of the steakburgers at SteakN'Shake - they're pressed kinda flat once they come off the grill. I usually get a double to bulk up the meat-to-bun ratio. This place has always been packed every time I've been there, but it's worth the wait for a table! read more

I've been going here since I was a little kid and adore this place. Not much seating and it gets very busy, so plan accordingly. Don't eat meat? Try a grilled cheese and add grilled onions, it's fabulous. The fries are great as well (similar to Steak n' Shake). Their chocolate shakes are tasty. You can also get flavor shots in your sodas and the crushed ice they use is awesome. read more

The food was amazing, they were very quick to have us seated and didn't spend any time dilly dallying. I would recommend and go to again.

YUMMY! It's an old school diner. Kinda small inside but a good amount of seating. Everyone is super friendly. You can get your burger with anything on it and either on toast or on a regular bun. I know residents of Anderson is loyal to this restaurant. But I've been away from Anderson for 36 yrs and heard how good this restaurant was. But honestly this is the worst restaurant I've ever eaten at. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Unless they want to spend over priced food your 10 year old can make after school. read more

They only thing I don't like is that the place fills up very quickly and has limited seating. I went to the Lemon Drop to try them out, since it looks like a cool little diner. It does have that greasy spoon vibe. Nothing has been updated in that place , probably since the 50's, or so it seems. Cooks and servers should wash their hands when going from preparing raw food to serving cooked food but did not. The onion burger, which is their specialty, just tasted like your average burger you'd eat at a backyard cookout. Nothing really stood out as extraordinary there. read more

I was recommended this spot, and I am SO happy I made the drive! The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. I felt very safe the entire time, as they are taking many precautions. I fell in love with the toasted cheeseburger, and to top it off with a lemon milkshake was the best. The environment is very cute and fun! You feel like you're at an old diner (it was est. in 1953 after all). I would absolutely recommend checking it out- and taking some fun photos with your friends along the way! read more

This is one of Andersons old time favorites ! There's a Juke box to play good oldies music ,that is my favorite thing to do . There's a bar top with stools to sit at or booths . The train that runs around the top of the ceiling is a added touch ! My favorite is a double cheese burger on toast mmhm ! Yumm and fries with a cup of cheese and don't forget the vanilla sprite . Add cherry or vanilla to any soda. It's small but full of life and memories , and Bill is just hands down awesome ! read more

Perfectly prepared hamburgers on toast, pork tenderloin, cherry coke, fresh French fries, and a shake. Classic. This place is just as good as it was when I was a kid. It can get pretty packed at peak times as it's a small place, but man, worth the wait. Buy a tshirt and wear it anywhere in the Midwest... someone will recognize it! read more

Delicious, fresh made burgers. Hand dipped shakes. Great diner atmosphere. I had the onion burger, fries and a cherry chocolate milkshake. I'm an onion lover, so the buger was great. I could tell that the food was made by someone who cared. The only negative was that I was suprised to find out that they go to the trouble to make the grilled tenderloin fresh, but the breaded is frozen. read more

Oh, my god. I went to The Lemon Drop a couple of days ago, and had the best fast-food burger I have ever had, in any area of the country: The Lemon Drop Onion Burger, two thin patties with a layer of finely-chopped onions sealed in the middle; and served on a bun with any toppings you care to specify. Ironically, this was the first time I had ever been in The Lemon Drop, in more than 50 years, even though I was born and raised in Anderson; and I had been friends and classmates of the Lemon sisters (Linda, Brenda, and Terri), daughters of The Lemon Drop founder. Brenda Lemon sat (alphabetically) just ahead of me in class at South Side Junior High School for three years. I never visited The Lemon Drop during my youth, because it was on the other side of town from me in Meadowbrook. The original Lemon family sold the place to new owners a few years ago, but the new owner, who mans the grill solo, and has just as much involvement as the original owner, even chatting with the customers when he has a spare minute. The place is small, which means that you might have to wait for a table or stool during popular hours. Kids will enjoy the model train which runs around the restaurant on a track near the ceiling. read more

I was in Anderson for a day and couldn't resist Yelp's lure of the oinion burger. Or should I say YUMion burger? (sorry, I can't resist a bad pun either). Friends, this burger is made with love - so hot off the grill that the co-operator (I presume the chef's wife) warns me to be careful with the first bite. Good fries to boot, and coca-cola served in a glass of crushed ice to make sure it's "ice cold." And how much I wish that restaurants would understand that it is not rude to give the check with the meal and let the customer decide how long they want to stay. read more

A classic, family owned, hole in the wall diner, the Lemon Drop is the place to go if you want to relive a bit of the past. The food is plentiful and fairly priced, the staff is friendly, and they treat you like family. I had a toasted cheeseburger, which is a cheeseburger served on toasted bread instead of a bun - it took me back to a homemade lunch as a child. Been by there many a time, but first time I ate there. Small diner like cafe with limited menu of various burgers/sandwiches,fries/onion rings. The burgers were excellent, though thin and all cooked well done. Breaded tenderloin dinner would have been served in "non-sandwich" style had the waitress not pointed that out. Good thick center of meat and the breading was not too thick. French fries were the thin kind and crisp not soggy. Onion ring--I think they were bought commercially. True rings of onion, but the breading was thicker than I like. Drink refills were free. read more

This place is a home town fave. Food is great and staff is friendly. One drawback is that it is very small and you will probably have to wait for a table.
