I love the vibe of this place and the bartenders are fun. I'm not super into bars and night life but this place is comfortable to hang out at for a night out. They have live music sometimes and a great drinks menu with unique names and cocktails. Prices are reasonable for the area. I don't drink alcohol much anymore, so I was glad the place has some mocktail options on the menu. Five stars for the creative name alone. We've been here to drink and to listen to live music, and it's a great place for both. I usually drive in from New Jersey but the train isn't bad if you're into multitasking while commuting or wishing you drove when it's 2 AM and The PATH is being The PATH. The bartenders definitely know what they're doing and it's just a great vibe all around if you like bars that don't mess about with sports or shotgirls. It reminds me of 2015 New York City, simpler and less try hard times. read more

Despite the websites of both the bar and the musician associated, there is no live music here. The website says the Adam Platt Trio plays every Monday at 10pm. Adam's website says he plays every Monday at 9pm. We went for the music around 10 last night (Monday). When we walked in, it was virtually empty. We asked the bartender where the music was. He said they haven't been doing it since the pandemic. That means the website is 2 years out of date. I'm sure the cocktails are great, but the website needs to be updated so people like me don't traverse the neighborhood just to be disappointed. read more

Found myself in the Letlove Inn on a Sunday night to hear my wife's cousin's band perform. This is a typical NYC dive bar. They have a limited beer menu and the usual whiskeys. The interior is dark so I needed a flashlight to read the drink menu. The place was fairly busy on a Sunday evening. The sound was good and the lighting was adequate for music. The music was very good and they have live music often. Just remember it's drinks only, no food so eat before you go. There are plenty of restaurants in the area. read more

Very cute & fun bar! We came in for a drink after dinner and we ordered the Dog Chasing Tail and Caravan! If you like date infused bourbon, I would definitely recommend the Caravan. Its presentation is pretty and strong, just the way a crafted cocktail should be. Our bartender had a sense of humor, I liked him. It's a loud, dark, grungey dive bar which I honestly don't mind but if you looked at the cocktail menu online and thought you could order one upon walking in, you'd be wrong. The bartender will quickly make you aware that that is the old menu and will hand you a paper menu with half the items crossed off in pen. I went there this evening with my husband to see my cousins band perform. I was very surprised to see so many people hanging out in a bar on a Sunday night. The venue is cozy, it has an old school look to it. Sorry no pictures of the interior as the place was rather dark, probably my only complaint about the place. Of course the music was very entertaining tonight, live music every Sunday if I am not mistaken. For a place that doesn't serve food a thought the drink menu was on the small side. Pretty bad dive bar where the bartenders don't seem to really care about or acknowledge you unless you're a regular. The service is really, really bad and both times we went we waited at least 10-15 minutes before we were asked if we wanted a drink. The second time we went, we left after 15 minutes of waiting to be asked if we wanted a second round because the bartender was literally nowhere to be found. He kept walking in and out of some back room....I mean I was tempted to just serve myself honestly, but in the end we just left and decided to spend our money elsewhere. I kind of liked the darker lighting and ambience of the place, but it's definitely frequented by a much older crowd and lots of people by themselves sipping on their drinks contemplatively, which is fine if you're into that sorta thing. There also tends to be very mediocre soft/dad rock playing quietly in the background, which seems to pander to the crowd they draw in there. My friends and I stopped in at this North Astoria bar on a Thursday (as part of our aptly-named series, "Astoria Thursdays") around 7 PM. The space was on the smaller side and didn't have much to offer in the way of decor. The lights were on for most of our visit, but around 8, the room gets a little dimmer and the bartender comes around with candles. As one would expect at a watering hole, there were drinks aplenty: Fancy cocktails, wine, beer, and your average mixed drinks. Unfortunately, there's no food. In addition, you can't bring it in from the outside. So they let love in, but no food?? Food IS love, man. Anyway, so just the drinks. I started off with the Smoking in Bed [tequila, mezcal, St. Germain, lime juice, bitters]. I always love mezcal, and I liked the inclusion of the St. Germain, but to be honest, this drink didn't blow me away. Just a solid choice for fans of the agave. The happy hour specials ran until 8, and we had a decent amount of options to choose from: wines, wells, $2 off Pacifico (my second drink), and $1 Narragansetts. Unfortunately, when we tried to chat with the bartender about the drinks, he made it pretty clear that he had no intention of conversing with us any more than was absolutely necessary. My friend, a Rhode Island native, innocently asked if they were going to have the Narragansett shandy on tap this summer and he immediately shut her down, saying that he didn't get to choose what the bar serves and he doesn't make those decisions, etc. He could've just said he didn't know... we were essentially just trying to be friendly, but our friendliness obviously didn't go over so well. :-/ We left after spending about an hour here, mainly because we had to eat something ASAP in the face of an impending hangover the next morning. If the LetLove Inn fixed the food issue, the attitudes, and maybe spruced up the cocktails a smidge, i'd probably be inclined to give it a four. For now, it's squarely in 3-star territory. read more

A bar named after a Nick Cave song already sets a high level of expectation, in my book... Fortunately, the LetLove Inn completely lives up to that! Beautiful interior design, excellent cocktails, music, and charismatic bar tenders. The perfect little neighborhood spot for meeting a friend or going on a romantic date (and, dare I say, the kind of bar I could completely envision Nick Cave himself hanging out in?). I can't wait to spend many more evenings here! p.s. apparently another yelper thought the lack of signage outside made this bar seem "sketchy"... I don't know what to say to that, except some of the best bars I've been to were the hardest ones to find or the ones with the least signage. So if you prefer loud advertisements, there are a few crappy sports bars within a 3-block radius for you. But if you're after something better than that, you'll certainly appreciate the LetLove Inn. read more

This is a nice bar to duck into a little after 4pm and have a few Missionaries (one of their delicious cocktails), before bumbling over to CVS and picking up the toilet paper your roommate always gets out of buying for some reason. I've went ahead and created a handy guide for anyone else out there who likes to get their errands done after a few stiff ones: After drinking 1 Missionary: You'll go to CVS, but you'll be just sober-buzzed enough to be miserable by the florescent lights and annoyed by the lack of selection of toilet paper. You're too lazy to go to Key Food--it's not on the way home. After drinking 2 Missionaries: You'll make it to CVS, and find the toilet paper. You'll buy goldfish crackers on a whim on your way to the self-checkout. You'll feel really, really, super about the whole ordeal. After drinking 3 Missionaries: You'll make it to CVS, stop in the entryway, turn around and order a burrito from the taco truck. Then you'll go back into CVS, buy the toilet paper, decide it might be a good idea to buy a few Snapples as well, pay by debit card, and withdraw enough cash to pay for your burrito. After 3 Missionaries + a beer: You're still determined to go to CVS, but it can wait until after this beer. After 3 Missionaries, + a beer, + any other cocktail: There is no CVS in your future. On a closing note, I would just like to add that as someone who appreciates a well-made cocktail, I like the fact that I can actually savor and smell each ingredient in my drink, without it being overpowered by stinky cheese or someone's food truck burrito. As I get older, and yes I realize I'm not that old, I have more of an appreciation for quieter, low key bars as opposed to the disdain I've developed by the overcrowded, I'm 25 and drunk bars. With that said, the letlove inn bar is a great low key spot to grab a cocktail, listen to some old school jams and just relax. The reason for the 4 stars is that I think the service could be better. If my drink is empty for over 5 minutes and you haven't asked me if I want another round (and you're not that busy), that's a problem. But despite that, I enjoy this place and absolutely will be back. read more

They have hard wooden booths along with their bar stools, so no place really to get cozy if you're looking for couches. And the bartender was nice enough to let us share a single mug of beer. My absolute favorite cocktail bar in Astoria. Another masterpiece by Evan, who brought us The Sparrow, Mar's, and the now defunct Oleput. Some of the best classic cocktails ANYWHERE. This place is BETTER than any of Sasha Petraske's joints IMHO. Really tight, small drink menu, but they can and do mix whatever you want. Good beer selection also; wine available. Great music also; all of the bartenders have excellent taste in music and some nights they spin vynil. I was in love with this place even when they were cash-only; now that they have one of those little iPaddy Thingies to take cards, I am over the moon. My kind of bar! Came here, out of all nights, on NYE with a friend and the bf. The interior consists of that well-worn, antique décor that so many other bars in and around NYC all seem to have. Cocktails were decent (I had the Queen Bee). Since it was NYE, the place got super crowded shortly after we had arrived, so I'm not sure if that's how it's like normally. Great bar to fade away in. Sparingly lit, tall ceilings, dark wood. This drinkers bar has real presence, every corner of it even down to the WC. If you are a fan of Bachelard's Poetics of Space you will feel right at home here. The bartenders are the perfect paradox being laid back and on the ball! This place is just the worst. I showed up for a drink last Friday afternoon. Not only was there no one here yet.... but the bar wasn't even set up. The lights were off and there was absolutely no music. I mean what kind of place is completely quiet? No ambiance. So I begrudgingly started my drinking experience at this establishment by turning on some lights and putting on some music. I then figured if I want a drink I'd better set up the bar, sweep the floor, take the chairs down and cut fruit. Just as I was ready to sit down and finally have a drink I realized there was no ice!!! I went downstairs to the ice machine and got some, restocking some of the beers while I was at it. The basement was very nice and clean but once again... no music. #FML Some other customers came in and I gave them menus since no one else was going to do it. This is when I really became inconvenienced. They wanted some drinks and since the service here was so non existent I felt it was my obligation to help them out. I made their drinks and this trend continued for the better part of the next 4 hours. Around 8pm the bartender finally showed up. He was a skinny curly haired guy that looked like he just woke up. He didn't even thank me for helping out while he was tardy and then DIDN'T EVEN ASK ME IF I WANTED A DRINK!!! The real kicker was right around this time it started getting really busy so people kept asking me for drinks. It was an avid bar-goers worst nightmare! I had to help the bartender out for ANOTHER 5 HOURS!! Every time I tried to leave the bar I got another drink order. Needless to say I was mortified. It was around 1am when the bartender finally handed me a bunch of money and told me to have a seat at the bar and have a drink. I must say the young man who I had become fast friends with that evening was quite the Cocktologist. I enjoyed the drink so much that I ALMOST forgot I had waited over 9 hours to get it. Pros: The drinks are great, once you eventually receive them, and if you get here early enough you can actually make a couple hundred bucks give or take. Cons: Drinks take FOREVER to get, and your back may hurt a bit at then end of your visit. Overall I recommend it but there is much room for improvement here. They asked me to come back every Friday and I think I might but for Christ's sake get your act together LetLove Inn!! read more
