Today was my first time at "The Licking" Millennia and I was very disappointed. Firstly, I thought I entered a club because the music was way too loud and If you wanted to be seated no one was at the entrance to greet you. There were multiple dirty tables and no one came to seat us, so I decided to do a to-go order. I needed to figure out where to go because the sign was blocking the entrance to the cashier. When I did walk up to the cashier there was no greeting. I had to ask her to take my order. They were out of a lot of the menu items so we had to settle with the shrimp dinner with the mystery drink. While I was waiting for my order. The server came out of the kitchen cursing up a storm. Her exact words were " It's not my motherfucking fault you didn't get a fucking break don't take that shit out on me" in front of customers. My eyes and ears couldn't believe it. I then got a text that my order was ready and didn't even get a thank you or my pleasure( should have stuck to my Chik Fil A). They just shove the bag with my food and drink. Leaving the restaurant and went into the car and decided to open my plate. The food was cold. They only place two shrimp on my plate for a $20 dinner. Until the restaurant decides to have structure and customer service they will not get another dime. I want to give the restaurant a negative one star but it forces me to give it one star. We went to this place last night and upfront we were told they were out of candied yams and rice. I was going to order the yams but I got Mac n cheese instead. I proceeded with my order of Turkey legs, greens, Mac n cheese, and mystery cake, another person in my party ordered the same thing. The 3rd person ordered conch, Mac n cheese, and broccoli, the 4th person ordered steak, greens, and Mac n cheese and an order of conch. 30 or more minutes later a server came out and said they were out of lemon pepper Turkey legs. At this time all our food should have been out so that added additional time because two of us had to change our orders and we got lemon pepper wings. As I stated we waited additional time at this point. Finally we got our food and the shit was cold. The conch dinner had no more than 12 super small pieces. We were so upset with our experience. The steak dinner was sent back. I asked them if they were going to discount us. The server stated they wouldn't do that. I was so blowed. I will not go back!! The staff seemed professional. But the food and quantity is not it there! And them not assisting us to make it better was not it!! They did switch out or Mac n cheese for some fresh and hot. The food was decent. Over priced? Yes, but was decent. The service is horrible !!! We waited for 30 minutes just for water. Everyone at the table had their food except one person. That's persons food came out right before the check, everyone was preparing to leave. The server didn't check in, didn't ask was it ok, didn't even acknowledge us in between us calling her over for help. Luckily, another girl who was running food stepped in and got us taken care of. Man of man where do I start with this one. So I'm on a family vacation and family suggested this due to the location in Miami being highly raved about. I meet with the rest of my family who had told us to meet them there for dinner from our other location. Upon arrival they are pissed and said they had to call corporate not too long ago.... I was told they came in to a spot that was not packed and all the servers just stood around like they were too cute to help or sit or acknowledge them! Only after they called where they seated. Food took forever to come out and one entree was missing altogether. The comp some 2.50$ drinks and the missing meal. I get there and order fish tacos and seafood rice. The server tells me the tacos just got put on the menu and they don't have the ingredients to make them also the rice is sold out.... So I say okay give me 1min to pick something else he leaves and randomly comes back with "seafood rice" when I tell you it was extremely hard with imitation crab and the thinnest crab leg on top I was just ticked. So I order steak Alfredo pasta... I kid you not it was pure soup. I even stirred it for a minute to thicken it up as soon sauces have to be but nothing. I tell the server I just don't want it due to how it is. He takes the dish and walks off and rolls his eyes majority of the table had to leave in a hurry for bathroom reasons. Was looking for a new wings place and happened by "the Licking" across from the Florida mall and Red Lobster. Had the naked wings with fingalicking" sauce on the side. Outstanding! Wings cooked to perfection and tasyed like farm raised (nit sure). The shoestring fries were lightly done and served hot like the wings. Great ambiance! Combo of Reggae and hip hop and the staff could not have been more friendly and professional. Coming back for to try the rest of the soul food menu! Loved it. read more
