I came to Yelp to find a local eyebrow artist when I found the Little Owl Spa. I've always been hesitant to try different eyebrow artists because my first experience getting my eyebrows done was terrible. However, after reading other reviews of such positive experiences, I decided to go to Katerina, and after talking with her she completely put me at ease. Ultimately, she TRANSFORMED my eyebrows and I couldn't be happier!!! If I didn't have to move away, I would still be going to the Little Owl Spa for her!! She is such a sweet and professional person, and worked what seems like actual magic on my eyebrows... I cannot speak highly enough of her. If you have any reservations about getting your eyebrows done by Katerina, this is your sign to make your appointment ASAP!!!

I just got the most amazing massage from Darlene! I have been having so much back pain for the last year or so. I have 3 kids two of which were almost 10 lbs and I have a small 5ft stature. I asked for a 90 min hot stone massage and I've gotten plenty of massages on my past. This one was my favorite thus far. I will definitely be coming back here and asking for Darlene

BEST MASSAGE EVER!!! Yesterday I went to the Little Owl for a massage. I was able to book it through their website which was super easy. Pick a date, pick a time and pick a practitioner. It's that easy!! Chelsea Giamarrino was my masseuse and she was waiting for me when I arrived. She offered me some grapes and we chatted about what I was after with my session. The massage room was amazing and had perfectly dim lighting. There was a Himalayan salt lamp and essential oils were being diffused. There were crystals throughout and the vibe was just heavenly. The massage table was cozy and I had the most amazing massage ever. I have had my fair share of massages in my life by both male and female therapists and Chelsea was by far the most therapeutic one I have ever had. My modesty was respected. She made sure the temperature was comfortable. She made sure her touch was the right pressure and she found muscles I never knew I had! We talked some during the massage but then she detected that I was in a zone and just did her job to perfection while I slept. Her use of essential oils during the massage was fantastic and relaxing and I smelled great for the rest of the day. I loved how she started my session just by putting some of the oils on her hands and had me breathe in the fragrance just to start my relaxation!! So, as you can see my visit far exceeded my expectations and I HIGHLY recommend the Little Owl and Chelsea! read more

I spent a week in the city and the humidity change was just too much for my skin and I had a wedding to attend in Poughkeepsie... I am from Las Vegas and the climate change was just too much for my skin. Kiki was awesome! She was extremely knowledgeable about her trade(s). She gave me a flawless facial and from one massage therapist to another-a relaxing and elegant massage. She also did me the favor of squeezing in one of the groomsmen for an eyebrow wax. Owner and sole practitioner, Kiriaki Pertesis provides a one room treatment space where every client is given 100% of her undivided attention and expertise in spa treatments. History

Established in 2010.

There are 2 spa locations: the original 1 room space located on 11 Market Street Suite 212 in Poughkeepsie and a brand new location opened on 11/11/18 at 214 Hooker Ave. in Poughkeepsie. The owner, Kiki Pertesis is an expert esthetician specializing in treating acne conditions and sensitive skin types as well as a waxing, eyebrow shaping and massage therapy. Her team of estheticians and massage therapists all share the same talents in skin care and passion for fabulous customer service, knowledge and professionalism. The Little Owl Spa received Best of Hudson Valley award in the waxing category in 2018.

Meet the Business Owner: Kiriaki P.

Kiriaki Pertesis is a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist & Esthetician. Certified in Prenatal massage and training to become a Massage Doula in New York. Kiriaki has been a member of the American Massage Therapy Association for 8 years. In 2003, she started her first business called. Miss Bliss which was a traveling spa service. The following year, she transported her business to Huntington, Long Island and also worked in a medical spa and day spa. In 2005 she moved to Mexico City, Mexico for 3.5 years to study the ancient chinese healing art called, ZhiNeng QiGong. She traveled to China and throughout Mexico offering courses with ZNQG professor, Eduardo Garcia Osegueda. In the meantime, she pursued a career as a singer-songwriter and worked with Grammy winning producer Memo Gil. Her first album entitled ,Teacher was released 2009. Upon her return to NY she worked in 2 of the finest spas in Manhattan. In 2011 she opened The Little Owl Spa located in the heart of Poughkeepsie.

This is not the first time I've been injured here--previously, I developed a fungal infection in my big toe after a pedicure, which caused my nail to separate. Because of that, I stopped getting pedicures there but continued going for my nails since I liked how they looked. This visit was different. The technician, who mentioned she previously owned a shop in the Bronx, repeatedly ignored my requests not to buff my nails. I explained multiple times that my nails are very thin, but she continued anyway, even when I pulled my hand away. She kept saying "just a little," but it was clearly too much. After the service, I could visibly see blood forming under my nail. Within three days, two of my nails had already fallen off. When another staff member noticed, they had her remove the rest of the set--but even then, she continued to buff my nails again despite me asking her to stop. She claimed she was trying to "lift the blood" from under the nail, which was extremely concerning. A male staff member eventually stepped in, confirmed that my nails had been over-buffed, and redid my full set for free. He was gentle and applied nail hardener, but by then, the damage was already done. Two weeks later, I have now lost half of my thumbnail and have been treating it. This experience was painful, stressful, and completely avoidable. I will not be returning.

Had an hour body massage because I had a physically hard work for the past 4 days. Found the massage space, separated by curtain from the rest of the big room, kind a tight but it worked well. I went to the Little Owl Spa for my first facial in YEARS recently! After meeting Kiki (the owner) in person by chance at a friend's house, I knew I had to visit her spa. She emits such a lovely welcoming presence. While Kiki wasn't the one to give me my facial, the woman who was my esthetician (Molly) was absolutely wonderful, and I trusted her completely (I knew that, if Kiki was the one to hire someone, they would be a person to be trusted!). I loved every second of my facial, and so loved Molly's kind and comforting presence. She is a dear soul, and gifted with taking care of others. :) She was so helpful, and wrote down several recommendations for skin care after our session, and even gave me her number to text with any follow up questions I may have - how incredible is that?! There aren't enough good things to be said about The Little Owl and Kiki. I am so incredibly happy that I found this place. From the ambiance to Kiki's personality and professionalism; once you go see her you will never want to go anywhere else. I went to see Kiki for my very first Brazilian wax. What an awesome find! Was so happy to come across a place for a massage in Poughkeepsie that's so close to us. Have been to the larger, franchised massage places in the area but was never satisfied. Jacquelyn was wonderful and also able to accommodate my boyfriend for a same-day appointment. Jacquelyn gave me an excellent deep-tissue massage, working with me to address these problem areas.
