The Local is a fantastic place to hang out with friends or for a nice dinner date. We are on our annual trip up to Boone, and this place is definitely going to be in our itinerary every year to follow. Our waitress, Kensley, was incredible. She saved our date. The food that I chose was not my taste, nothing wrong with the dish I just chose something that was definitely not for me. She was very understanding and traded the dish out. Her personality was very bubbly and we enjoyed having her as our waitress. Most definitely requesting her the next time we come in! read more

The food and the atmosphere at the Local were both fantastic. There is a great menu and a kids menu too. There is a heated deck for outside seating which was perfect. As an ASU student, I spend a lot of time on King Street. About a year ago, I grabbed a bite at The Local and have been in love ever since. One of my favorite things about this place is the laid back feel. I always feel comfortable grabbing food or a brew here. My friend group has made The Local our go-to place for wings on Monday nights for months and I haven't been disappointed! I love this place and I'll keep going! read more

We came to downtown Boone without a plan of where to eat. We knew the area somewhat well but we had a group of 11 and wanted to make sure we could all fit well and watch the game with the sound on. The Local satisfied every single one of those things and were very hospitable to our group. Good thing I used the trusty Yelp app and found a couple suggestions! The Local has lots of room inside and is very inviting. They have a cool couch hangout area just past the bar and by the pizza oven. We set in the room with the pool tables and had the room to ourselves on a Saturday evening. We all ordered up some drinks. It was bitter cold outside so some coffees and some dark beers were in order. The waitress was very nice and took care of all our requests. I ordered a pizza that was delicious! We all split appetizers too that were all perfect. The fried Brussels sprouts were done well and had good flavors! I would definitely recommend stopping by for a drink or a nice evening dinner with friends. read more

My husband and I sought out this lively, warm and welcome restaurant for dinner, on the recommendation of a recent App State grad. Seated at the bar, we enjoyed excellent, creative and fresh food. Visited the Local Jan 7 when taking my daughter to ASU. The staff was friendly and entertained us with dancing while they waited for patrons. My wife ordered a burger that was delish and I ordered the fish and chips, which were not so good. Couldn't wait to bite into the big pieces of fish that looked so appetizing. But when I did, the fish fell apart and was only lukewarm at best. Not a big fan of matchstick fries either, but they were actually pretty good. All in all, the experience was just okay for us, but the atmosphere was inviting and the staff was energetic. read more

Amazing service, food and atmosphere! I recently visited Boone on a trip for work. I do not ever write reviews for restaurants, I simply don't take the time and usually don't care that much. However, I wanted to share the experience at The Local because it was truly exceptional. Our server was Art who was literally the best server I've ever had. Our entire group has been raving about him for days. I even looked at my boss today and said "HOW AWESOME WAS ART?!" (Art, you are amazing. I really hope that you're at The Local next time I'm in Boone. But if you're not there, I hope it's because you're off doing great things! You made our night and I've told everyone I know how much we appreciated the service!) The food and cocktails were also incredible! This place is so good, I've been here 2 times now and both experiences have been great, the food is verryyyy good, kind of expensive but not overpriced. The service has been decent both times, nothing impressive but they were nice.i've had Korean pork tacos which are SUPER GOOD, and their Cuban sandwich. The Cuban is very unique, if you're looking for an authentic Cuban this is not the sandwich you want, but if you want a GOOOOOOD Cuban, you want this sandwich. Mwhat a horrible disappointment and over charge. The service is inept. I came in for carry out and was told to stand outside on the far left With other bewildered customer. no one offered us a drink while we waited. my 35 minute wait turned to 50 and when I walked to the place I ordered to check they rudely said I was in the way and to ask at the opposite end of room. I did and 30 minutes later I got two cold sandy and a bill for nearly 40 dollars. I own a business in Chicago and they would never last in a major market. Holy moly! Stumbled on this place while on vacation -- Best meal of the WEEK! Had Brussels Sprouts app, wings, Quinoa Bowl with fried blackened tofu, pork Nachos, OG burger, and Ahi Tuna Salad, finishing up with Mud pie. My first suggestion is clean silverware. Ours was dirty. Our food was cold You were very busy which is good, I think we got lost in the mix. It happens. My main concern was the watering hole aspect. We were inundated by foul language from people that were wasted but still being served. Even my kids were surprised by the really foul and insensitive language.
