Tiffany was super helpful when we had a lot of questions and accommodating for my party's allergy. Hello. Peppers has been one of my favorite restaurants for years! Although, my experience last night was so terrible it didn't even seem I was at the same local place that I have visited so many times. It's hard to give this review because it's just not the way things usually are there when I've visited before. We reserved a table for 6:15 and made the short drive from Mountain City, TN to get a good burger. We own a local deli and serve the public daily. We know at best sometimes, it's just a bad day all the way around. We arrived and were ignored by the manager, Tiffany. She was too busy training a young man. She asked our names and she continued to "train" the young man. A sweet girl ask our name after a wait, she was going to seat us, but hesitated due to her manager had already ask our name. We waited and were fine. We were seated and ordered a pimento cheeseburger burger and a big Jack burger on gluten free bun. We noticed that typically the seats are full and sometimes people wait outside but that wasn't the case last night. Our food came and the burgers were charred. They were so hard I couldn't bite into the meat on the first bite! The burgers come medium but we requested well done prior to getting our food. Tiffany came over and took our food and our complaint and made us new burgers. In the mean time she brought out a fruit plate while we waited. The first bite for both of us was as not cooked well done, there was a lot of red in the burgers. Tiffany came back and she took the burgers back to cook them some more. The burgers came back and she stated "we threw them back on the grill for 60 seconds". My next bite the burger was cooked properly but the juices from inside the meat squirted out on my tongue and burned my tongue. Tiffany came back and ask how everything was. I told her burger was good but I had burnt my tongue badly and I showed her. She laughed at me! She offered me a cup of ice and I declined. I told her "there isn't anything else I want from you" I was laughed at by the manager. The worst dining experience I have had in many years and to laugh at someone who is hurting is beyond anything that I would have expected. My husband's burger was cooked properly. Both burgers had 4-5 pieces of lettuce shreds on them and I never seen or tasted the 1000 island on mine. My first time eating at this place. Menu offered a lot. My friend got salad with chicken ( it was overdone & too hard to cut. Never be seated in the bar. It had a dirty bathroom and there were several ppl that got their food before us. My burger was burnt but I didn't send it back. The gluten free bun was too hard to eat. Me and my mom came here to celebrate a very late Mother's Day, and we were instantly impressed! Walked in and were immediately greeted and sat down. We were even given different options for seating. The cocktail menu here is amazing, so many options!!!! I ordered the Peach Mule, so tasty and refreshing! My mom got the Bee's Knees I believe it was called, she loved it!!! It was very summery and tasty as well. For apps, we tried the okra fries, which were absolutely perfectly seasoned and delicious!!! We also enjoyed the house made ranch that came with our app! My mom and I ordered burgers as our entrees and potato salad as a side. I got the apple bacon burger well done, it was meaty, cheesy, and so so perfect!!!! My mom got the pimento cheese burger also well done, she loved it. The potato salad was amazing!!!!! It was sweet, savory, creamy....it really ticked all the boxes for me. Our server was also the bartender, she was very attentive and funny, as well as helpful when we were trying to figure out what to order. I absolutely recommend this place!!!! Random find on Yelp and Google. Excellent mean with a ton of food on the plate. First off -- some of the best mashed potatoes and the mac n cheese was next level. Fantastic! I went with meatloaf. Two large slices that are served with parm crusted and parm flakes on top. Excellent! My only suggestion, maybe add some gravy to top it off. My wife ordered the sirloin steak dinner. She ordered rare and they knocked it out of the park. Excellent. The onion rings are very good, I almost ordered a side of them. Speaking of appz, the Okra Fries are unique and actually pretty darn good. The French Onion Soup was okay, about average. Visiting the area for the weekend and had just finished a hike. We searched for lunch places near us and saw this one with decent reviews. Despite it being homecoming weekend for App State, we didn't wait long. Hostesses were friendly, but our server seemed tired-she wasn't bad though. We ordered the fried mozzarella and okra fries as appetizers. The seasoning on the fries blew my mind and changed the game on okra. We really enjoyed that-the ranch was good, but totally not necessary. Some meals can hide behind condiments, but not this one. We ordered the Cowboy BBQ burger with Beyond...thank you for having that often! I loved the addition of the fresh onion rings on the burger. The steak fries were lacking in color, but my kids had no problem eating them. I preferred the curly fries. I also had the glass bottle Vernon Ginger Ale...it was mediocre-I like a "punch you in the throat" beverage. Would I return? Certainly. We came here on the recommendation of our friends. Pepper's has been open in Boone since 1975, and in this location for over 25 years! I can see why; friendly staff, lots of variety in the menu, reasonable prices.....they even have a full bar next door! We visited on a Thursday afternoon....there were 4 in our party. They have many appetizers, salads, sandwiches, etc. to choose from. There are also combinations. I ordered the turkey sandwich on a croissant. It was loaded with fresh turkey and Swiss cheese, plus the croissant was just slightly toasted. Yummy! I ordered the onion rings as my side item for $2 more, and they were arguably the best onion rings I've ever had! It was a wise decision. My husband had the French onion soup and a 1/2 a Reuben sandwich. The soup was hot, bubbly, and loaded with cheese. (It even came with a little scissors to cut the cheese....cute touch!). He said the sandwich and soup were both really good! He also had decent portion curly fries which he liked too. Both our friends also had the French onion soup and they both loved it. One had a small salad with hers that was a good size and had everything really fresh. The other had a 1/2 French dip sandwich which he said was delicious. This restaurant has a good following and the fact that it has been around so long speaks for itself! We made reservations expecting a crowd but we were seated as soon as we walked in & our order was promptly taken. Overall, none of us raved about the food but we didn't really have complaints either. Started with a wrong footing here. Came in for my reservation for two and we were told by a host to wait. Then only to notice 3 other group of people for two came who got seated right away by another host. I heard they have reservation same time as I did. The hosts are out of sync! I should have a walked away as that is not a good sign at all. Then one of the 3 hosts finally noticed us and asked if I had a reservation and I said yes with much annoyance visible and commented on about seeing others being seated. She was of course irritated and was whispering to others. Unprofessional! About the food, I tried their onion soup, it was ok. I also had their wedge salad with added chicken and the dressing was sour with bitter after taste. Disgusting! My son ordered an applewood bacon cheddar burger medium rare and his burger arrived well done. The only item that was worth it was the carrot cake. Overall, it was ok. They were out of a few different IPA selections, which isn't the biggest deal but a little annoying. The spinach & artichoke dip was good, has huge chunks of artichoke so if you don't enjoy big chunks, just something to consider when ordering. The shrimp & grits had amazing flavor but the tails were left on the shrimp.... Weird in my opinion to eat shrimp and grits with the tails on. We've only had take out/delivery from Pepper's but really enjoy the food every time! The French dip with au jus sauce is a must have. We usually always order this without fail. The mushroom sub is a great vegetarian option with gooey cheese melted over mushroom and veggies on a hoagie. As a side, you can even add more mushroom to this and order the fried mushrooms. UPDATE AUG 2020: This restaurant is handling Covid like champs! They have a light system on every table to state the stage of sanitizing it has received or needs to receive. The staff wear masks and gloves. There is sanitizer at every table and a sanitizing station upon entry. I felt very safe dining here and that they are taking every precaution possible. The food is still ok but I appreciate their cleanliness and diligence. Still our annual first stop for Fall Break. The prices are a bit steep considering... Haven't eaten here in several years due to moving away from the area. Was looking forward to dinner here. Our sampler appetizer platter was really good and hot/fresh. Thats where the deliciousness ended. My husband got soup and sandwich combo. The potato soup tasted lackluster and had a weird, grainy texture. Our server gladly replaced it with a vegetable soup. It was the most bland soup we've ever tasted. Didn't take more than 1 bite. Chicken teriyaki sandwich was just ok. We wanted to order from the after 5 p.m. dinner menu but were told the cook for that station didn't show up for work so we had to order from the sandwich menu. Very disappointed. read more

This is the first restaurant I ever visited in Boone when I moved here 4 years ago. Although located in the Harris Teeter strip mall, the inside of the atmosphere is warm and inviting and exactly what you'd expect for a little mountain town. The menu options here are pretty vast, and this is a good place to take visitors or a group of people when everyone is wanting something different. The food isn't the best tasting in the entire world, of course, but it's definitely good and will "hit the spot," if you will. The french onion soup is literally the best I've ever had in my life. I crave it pretty frequently and have yet to find a soup better anywhere else. I actually never liked french onion soup until trying it here first. Do it. Oh yeah, in case people don't read the tips, I'd like to highlight that if you order anything "blackened" like blackened chicken in your pasta or your salad, it's actually unexpectedly spicy AF... which is fine, but just a heads up. read more
