I had a cortado (very well made with the correct ratios, served in a gibraltar), as well as the breakfast sandwich. The chipotle aioli was delicious and really made the sandwich pop. Overall I thought everything was great. My reason for knocking off one star is because my wife ordered a drink and they made it incorrectly (gave her a hot matcha latte instead of iced if I recall correctly) and instead of offering to remake it they just poured it over ice and they weren't really apologetic about the situation - the ratios and flavors got kind of messed up so it was just an OK matcha latte. read more

This coffee shop is SUPER popular! It came recommended and this was seen by the line of people out the door. It's a small place, so it's pretty crowded, maybe a little too crowded. There's also only one entrance/exit, which makes going in and out awkward. We waited in line to order for about 15 minutes, but the cashier was kind and efficient. If you don't mind a lot of people standing close to you, it's great to watch the baristas make the coffee drinks, such as tamping grounds, pulling espresso shots, and decorating lattes with milk art. They were working pretty fast, despite the amount of orders. We waited for our drinks for about 15 minutes, which wasn't too bad considering how busy it was. We ordered the berry croissant danishes (see picture) and the cinnamon rolls. They are beautiful! These were packaged in pastry bags and/or boxes and given to us right away. They had a great variety of pastries, so it was hard to choose! It's good to arrive early, since it appeared they were running low on pastries in the pastry case around 10:30 am. The cinnamon roll is delicious! The flavor of cinnamon and sugar is balanced, the pastry itself was perfectly cooked, and the cream cheese icing was the perfect touch. The berry (ricotta?) danish was tasty too, the berries were fresh and the croissant dough was flaky. For coffee, we ordered hot lattes and I ordered the iced cookie butter latte. The hot cups are well insulated and don't require a sleeve. The lattes are a bit on the pricier side compared to other coffee shop lattes. The hot lattes had beautiful art on top, which I appreciate and thought was a nice touch for to-go drinks. The iced cookie butter latte had a great subtle flavor and wasn't too sweet like I was anticipating. Such a charming spot! My husband and I have been here several times now, and every visit has been wonderful. We always start with the Vanilla Latte--it's perfectly balanced, not too sweet, with a rich espresso kick and beautiful latte art. The baristas are clearly talented! This is one of my favorite cafes in Old Town Scottsdale. Seating is limited and mostly outdoors, and lines can get long on the weekends, but the food and drinks are worth it! The baristas behind the counter will help you decide what to order if it's your first time. The avocado toast is well-seasoned and has a bit of spice to it from the chili flakes, so ask for no chili flakes if you're spice-intolerant. I was really excited to try out this coffee shop after I saw the menu because I love a cardamom latte. I ordered an iced rose cardamom latte and it was underwhelming. There was no rose or cardamom flavor, it just tasted like an iced coffee. I also tried the avocado toast. Felt overpriced for one slice with a large amount of oil drizzled on top. The sandwich was well executed - brioche bread was tasty too. The breakfast burrito was very tasty and the salsa was Smokey. The distribution of ingredients was equitable - no need to turn the burrito to equalize your bites. Staff was friendly and they share a bathroom with a Pilates studio nearby. This aesthetically pleasing coffee shop has a limited menu and they execute every item to perfection. Obsessed may be an understatement... We came here TWICE in our 3 day trip for Spring Training. It was a nice morning walk from our hotel and luckily we were able to find seating because it was a very popular spot! So many items to choose from in our first visit -- ended up with the raspberry poptart, cinnamon roll, and breakfast burrito to share with a cold brew and cardamom rose latte. Second trip we came after having coffee already because we wanted to try more pastry options -- this time the strawberry poptart and chocolate chip walnut cookie and the strawberry matcha (special). Berdinas has been one of my favorite cycling stops for many years. A month ago I ordered Avacado toast. I went to get a fork and was told they were out of forks. I ate my avacado toast with a spoon! Then a couple of weeks later I was told they were out of napkins. Today I was told they were out of avocados. How can you serve food without forks or napkins? The vibe of the place is pretty chaotic. The whole time I was there it was crammed (on a weekday morning) with people and very loud. We couldn't even hear them call our name for our order so it just sat there for 10 minutes before we got up to check the counter. Definitely not a place to enjoy a relaxing morning. Today we ordered the burrito, the breakfast sandwich with egg over hard, sub bacon, iced vanilla latte with almond milk and an iced matcha with honey and almond milk. The burrito came out perfect, slightly crisp tortilla, crispy bacon, soft potatoes with a slight crisp to the exterior, cheese and avocado layered expertly. The dipping sauce was excellent, not too spicy yet full of flavor. The breakfast sandwich was also expertly crafted, soft bread with the perfect amount of toasted-ness and the rest of the ingredients were very fresh and put together with care. Both drinks were of high quality, freshly prepared and perfectly proportioned. All items came out quickly despite a long line, the staff were friendly and attentive. Even though this is a coffee shop, their star items for me is their breakfast. I always find myself waking up on the weekends wanting their avocado toast, breakfast sandwich, or burrito. My personal preference for their avocado toast is to add crumbled bacon/fried egg, and remove the oil and aioli. I prefer my foods lighter/less rich and feel that the bacon and egg already provide enough oil. I would recommend this combo! Really cute, quaint spot in Old Town! The associates working here were friendly and conversational with customers during my visit, which was nice to see. I ordered the cardamom rose iced latte to drink and the smashed avocado toast with fried egg to eat and it was very yummy! The bread was lightly grilled, which yielded a nice crunch to what would have otherwise been mushy. They were super generous with their avocado spread and it seemed like they might have combined a smooth spread with coarsely chopped avocado, something I liked. The egg on top had a perfectly runny yolk, too! The shop might consider not serving on top of the parchment paper because as I ate and cut bites, pieces of the paper were making their way into my food. The plasticware also didn't seem quite sturdy enough, or maybe I was just being overzealous with my cutting!
