My new favorite in OOB! Small place but loaded with a good time. Indoor and outdoor seating available. No reservations so be ready to wait a bit. Check their website for specials. $1 oysters are a hit. And the prime rib night brings them in. (Not for me). They have a great menu and though there is a bit of a wait for the food, the over all experience is worth it. My dad loves it so it is our weekly night out. Parking can be limited near by but there is street parking around. Read the signs. They also have a full bar to sit and watch a game. Can't wait to see what the expansion will be. read more

First off, don't let the area where it is located be a deterrent, a neighborhood nowhere near the beach. It's called The Local for a reason. It doesn't pretend to be anything other than what it is. My son in law found it and when we pulled up we were a bit confused. But we are glad we stayed. We got there before the rest of our family and were greeted by the host, whom we learned was Jack and is 15. He was a very enthusiastic and friendly young man with a great sense of humor. What a great representation of today's youth. He told us that it would be about a 15 minute wait which was fine. Now the food. My daughter ordered the Brussels sprouts and they were the best sprouts any of us had ever had. Cooked perfectly and came with bacon and the best balsamic glaze I've ever had. I only ordered appetizers and had the coconut shrimp with a sweet chili sauce and barbecue chicken tenders. The shrimp were pretty good sized, not what you typically get as an app. They were delicious. The chicken tenders were also very good, barbecue sauce was very good. My sons in law got steak tips and another steak and both said they were delicious. My daughter got a pasta dish which she said was very good. The outside seating is limited and parking is a challenge but don't sell it short. It's definitely worth a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

What a gem in Old Orchard Beach! The Local OOB offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with friendly service. The wait staff is engaging and personable. One staff member was coming to tables to engage with families and their kids- which you don't see in many places. It feels just like the name says- a place where the locals gather to eat and drink. My husband and I stopped by for a bite and some drinks. We opted to try their wings- Teriyaki for him, gold rush for me. They were very big- cooked well, and juicy. They are not fried like some other places, which can be appealing for some. The sauces were good- tossed in, which the flavor didn't permeate throughout. The blue cheese dressing is amazing- fresh and chunky. There are a variety of drink options to try, from cocktails to mocktails, a huge beer menu, and THC drinks. This spot is a must when in Old Orchard. Tucked away from the busier area and a really great space with a lot of seating. I really love the covered outdoor area. The wait times can be long sometimes but that is because it's a great spot and well worth it. We sat at the outdoor bar area and got some great cocktails. The espresso martini is really well executed and I've tried a few of their margaritas and have loved them all. I got the pizza the first time I came and it was a solid pie but I really enjoyed the wings this time around. The burrata was good but I would opt for something else on their menu the next time since it's not the best thing. The service is friendly and fast and welcoming. Our first experience at The Local Restaurant was truly spot on! We will definitely make this a special place to dine with our out-of-town guests! From atmosphere, to service, to the delicious food, we were quite pleased as well as impressed! Must have great management as well as a phenomenal chef! We normally drive to Portland for special friends like our hometown Houston ones but thought we would take them to the Local. It certainly did not disappoint. They have a $1 oyster Monday advertised 12-6pm. Always sold out by 2:30 so it's a phony come on. The service is inexperienced and slow. But the place works because the food is good! It's crazy that this disorganized place is crowded because the menu is reasonably priced and delicious. I never write negative reviews, but I had the saddest lobster roll of my life here. I'm a lifelong New Englander and lobster roll fan, so I know what a lobster roll should look like. I ordered the hot lobster roll to-go, which was an option with online ordering when you click on the cold lobster roll. I opened the box before leaving and noticed this lobster looked half empty, as if someone had eaten it and left the leftovers. It looked like Iobster shreds with no claw meat and minimal butter. I asked for more butter (which was provided) and I talked to one of the severs about the roll (especially because it's priced like a normal stuffed lobster roll!!) The server asked one of the cooks about it while standing next to me. He said "it's a half a pound of meat. It looks small because of the bun and there isn't lettuce on it." She asked him if he could "beef it up a little" and he said no... I left very disappointed. Upon first bite, the lobster was overcooked and under seasoned. I cannot in good conscience recommend spending money on this lobster roll to anyone. read more

I have loved the local since it opened up under the new owners. Even after they got a new chef I continued to enjoy it. I often order the tuna appetizer as a meal but the last couple of times I have been very disappointed. It's cut way too thick now and although advertised as rare it has been overcooked.
