During a recent trip to Maine, we stayed near Goose Rocks Beach. We struggled to find somewhere to eat that didn't feel like a tourist trap in Kennebunkport. We came across Bandaloop in our searches and were instantly enticed by the interesting menu. We sat in the outdoor patio area. We ordered the eggrolls and elote cauliflower as appetizers to share amongst 5 adults. We all just wanted a small taste before our meals. I ordered the fish stew and it was delicious albeit a little spicier than our server said it was. My sister ordered the Palusami and it was really incredible. I had a few spoonful and have never had anything like that before. We ordered the strawberry rhubarb crumble for dessert and it was great! The raspberry sorbet that it came with was delicious. My only issue was that the service was very slow. It didn't seem super busy when we were there so we were certainly surprised by the slow service and lack of attention from the server. Otherwise we very much enjoyed ourselves.

This is my napkin after I wiped it on a small space of the table's surface we were seated at. The whole table top seemed to be waxy and not

With Reservations made we arrived at 7:15P. There were only 6 or 8 tables with customers on the main floor. The hostess decided to seat us in the BAR. First of all, We don't drink alcohol and the bar was louder than the main dining room. With all the empty space she took us to an area where two other couples were at the tables next to us. No consideration regarding privacy and I don't care to hear other people's conversation at dinner. I carefully picked up our service ware and moved it to the empty table in the corner. It even seemed it might be a stretch for the server in the Bar to be able to walk 25' to our NEW location. The Food was very tasty. The bottled water was chlorinated, so we bought a liter. The 2 liter Gigantic green water bottles were attempting to take the place of center pieces, but you can't lift them (4.4Lbs) safely. I worked in a few HIGH Level Restaurants as the maitre D'. I always catered to the customer's needs. AS for Bandaloop; With improved customer service that does not take a "guarded attitude", it would be a more gracious place. I was not attacking anyone. I mentioned that a 2 liter bottle cannot be picked up and poured with ease. "It's a new thing changed by the manager."--------- It was not well thought out. Try to pour a 2 liter bottle of wine or water with one hand. We also had to use another napkin as a placemat. What is on those tables? Bee's Wax? Use some Dawn soap.

Five star everything! Beautiful place indoors and out, amazing menu, delicious food, excellent service! It's a vegetarian's heaven in the sea of crappy veggie burgers and salads at at seafood restaurants (plenty of fabulous options for the non-vegetarian as well!) Great cocktails too! Reservations seem to be a must here although we lucked out. It seems that they don't do reservations for the outdoor patio in case of inclement weather so we were able to snag a patio seat last minute!

This place is phenomenal! Not one of the touristy restaurants which I appreciated. Beautiful interior and setting with a friendly staff. Our waitress was very accommodating and made delicious drinks! We opted for the brussel sprouts and egg roll. The egg rolled were TO DIE FOR! So unique. We got the hen of the woods mushroom ramen special. Truly a memorable dinner. Love it!

We have been coming here for a few years now. Still amazing, great food and drinks, knowledgeable staff and a comfortable atmosphere. Offering gluten free and vegan options. Daily specials including a soup, app, main dish and dessert.

We had dinner here last night. I had reserved upstairs but when we got there she had us at a table next to the fire downstairs which was perfect for me! The ambiance is cozy and the perfect lighting. It almost feels like you're at a friends house. My husband and I split the Gorgonzola egg rolls. These were bomb. He had two old fashions and commented that both tasted entirely different which was interesting. He said both were good but just prepared differently. I had a N/A beer called the white by a local brewer and it was delicious. For dinner I had the fish stew. The shrimp was tough but everything Else tasted delicious. The toast that came with it could have been a bit thicker to soak up the perfectly made broth. He had the chicken sandwich. The bun was very fresh tasting and good texture. Chicken was cooked well. Not too spicey at all. The potatoes it was served with were also perfectly seasoned and cooked. All in all a very good meal and we will be back. The server was great as well.

Have been wanting to go here for a few years when we visited Kennebunkport but never had the chance. So this time made reservations well in advance. We were not disappointed. Our server was great, food well prepared and reasonably portioned. We had the halibut and the salmon. Both came with fresh veggies.very good. The warm brownie desert and coffee were a wonderful finish to a great meal.

I have been to this restaurant several times. The last time I went, I got the "three sisters" meal, I was super excited about it. It looked and tasted AWFUL. It was basically inedible, there were literally pieces of food scraps in it such as the cob of corn, that made it literally inedible. I was EXTREMELY disappointed (see photo.) but I did not send the food back to the kitchen because I was on a date. That night, I had food poisoning. I contacted the restaurant the next day and the lady who answered the phone screamed at me when I told her I think I got food poisoning there. I will not be back solely because how I was treated as a customer.

I have been singing the praises of this resto since Ravi g on Wednesday night last week. I wish I knew about this gem sooner and already can't wait to go back! What an amazing (and accommodating!) menu! The drink list is amazing, the specials are creative. I had the pasta du jour and wish Strega Nona was cooking it for me out of her never ending pot! Do not sleep on the polenta fries. I've been having dreams about those. Such texture and taste. Also make sure to get some bread. Yes, you pay for it. But it's so good you'd pay for more.

This was a recommendation from a friend that did not disappoint! Atmosphere was very nice, food was delicious and the service was on point!

Stopped in for dinner and had a lovely experience. The service was some of the best we've had in months. Everyone who worked there was friendly, had great energy, and provided us with an excellent dining experience. The food was fresh, well prepared, and did not have excess salt or heavy ingredients added. Ambiance was a comfortable feel. This entire experience reminded me of what I used to feel in more restaurants. This place has managed to keep a happy attitude and great food despite hard to find help. We will definitely be back

Simply adored this restaurant. Was my favorite from our annual Maine trip this summer. The vibe is so warm and welcoming and the food is a blessing for a family with dietary restrictions. There was a lovely play space for my son to entertain himself while we perused the menu. They also had a wonderful children's menu and our server brought him a coloring book and crayons. Totally child friendly establishment while still feeling like a space catered to adults. We each started with a yummy cocktail and had a glass of wine with dinner. Love that all of their wine is either organic or biodynamic! The food was excellent and we decided to try 2 deserts (which never happens for us!) Can't wait to come back next year, hope this is the start of a new annual tradition!

Once you walk in and see the beautiful interior you really feel you're in a special place that not many people get to experience. We checked in 5 minutes before our reservation and our table was more quite ready so we found ourselves a couple seats at the bar. We did wait about 15/20 minutes for our table. Once we were seated, we were greeted with water and bread service. The homemade sourdough focaccia was incredible. I had to stop myself for reaching for piece number three. When looking at the menu, they have a couple different options. We loved the price is preset based upon your 3 or 4 courses. Doesn't matter what you choose on the menu, you just are charged or a 3 or 4 course option. Husband Course 1: TUNA SASHIMI Course 2: WOOD FIRED OCTOPUS Course 3: SWORDFISH Course 4: (dessert) HAZELNUT TIRAMISU The tuna was fresh, sliced thicker lots of flavor and delicious. Octopus was tender-had a perfectly light smoky flavor. Swordfish Nice cut of fish. Good flavor. Unfortunately this was a little over cooked. Didn't have a bouncy texture and a bit dry. Tiramisu had a lovely thick hazelnut flavor. Good texture. Myself: Course 1: BARLEY RISOTTO Course 2: LOBSTER FETTUCCINE Course 3: HALIBUT Course 4 (dessert) donuts Additions-- carrots Risotto was outstanding. This flavor combination was outstanding. I was dancing in my chair like a little girl. Fettuccine, everything is better with lobster. Perfectly handmade noodles. Delicate fresh lobster and light sauce. Halibut had a wonderful flavor. Nice piece of fish. But mine too was a little over cooked. All the vegetables were fresh and their flavor definitely showed that. The donuts were absolutely to die for. I am not a sweet person and they were moth watering. Overall this place is magical. I would eat here a million times over

Earth at Hidden Pond landed on my radar via social media. Even though I spent summer vacations in…read moreKennebunkport, my frame of reference is solely within Dock Square and its vicinity. As such, I'm not not familiar with many of the eateries and businesses outside of that area. Anyway, Earth looked like a special place - the great reviews I've seen paired with the overall elevated dining experience piqued my interest. That being said, I made plans to dine here during my most recent trip to Maine. Earth is the onsite restaurant of Hidden Pond, a resort that was converted from a campground. Due to these roots, the restaurant (and resort itself) is somewhat isolated. The restaurant itself is gorgeous - walking in you're greeted by a tastefully decorated dining room with lots of wood and Earth tones (such theming!), touches of tree accents, strung lights, low lighting, and music subtly playing. The decor was on point without being too right-on-the-nose if that makes sense. I had not planned ahead, so decided to try and get a walk-in seat at the bar - however I was able to snatch a last-minute cancellation and ended up at a table *flips invisible hair*. The menu is mostly New American, with touches of other cultures. The meal is prix-fixe, with the choice of three or four courses. My server explained that their "golden rule" is that you must order a main - everything else is flexible. In other words, besides the main you're not locked into one dish from each section to make 3 or 4 courses. That being said, I wanted to sample one dish from each section, so I ordered 4 courses and ordered accordingly. But first, a drink - I tried one of their craft cocktails: Fire in the Forest. This was cream-based with flavors of marshmallow and smoke - very good but too heavy for me to have multiple, I switched to wine for round 2. For food, I went with tuna sashimi for my first course. The fish was fresh and creatively plated - unlike traditional sashimi. My only critique here was I wish I was given chopsticks to eat it. For my second course I decided to splurge and get the Japanese A5 Wagyu. This was served atop spinach and sauce, paired with a lobster claw and potato croquette. It wasn't the best cut of wagyu I've had, but was still good - and the sides complemented the beef well. For my main, I had the halibut. This was again paired with a lobster claw and came with a tasty sauce, broccolini, and potatoes. This was really good - the fish was tender and flavorful, and all components of the dish were super fresh. For dessert, I went with the hazelnut tiramisu. This was the weakest course IMO - the flavor was good, but the tiramisu was too dense. I was also given the opportunity to sample one of their doughnuts which was delicious. The doughnut was glazed perfectly, fluffy on the inside and slightly chewy - it's everything you want in a doughnut. I understand why this is their signature dessert and regret not ordering it as my main dessert. Service was excellent, I had some great conversation with the team and they really heightened the experience. Overall, I had a great time at Earth. While I did have some critiques of the food, they put out a strong showing and the overall experience was special. I wouldn't hesitate to return here, or recommend it to someone looking for an elevated dining experience in Kennebunkport.

We started the evening with cocktails which were very much to our liking, followed by a delicious appetizer of lobster risotto that we shared. We both ordered the short ribs which were mouthwatering and cooked to perfection that the meat fell off the bone. The servings were enough where we took the bones and whatever meat was left to make a delicious beef soup. Neither one of us were up for dessert but decided to get two to go, which we downed once we got home. And they were both delicious. If you loved Village Tavern under the previous owners, you should know that the beloved restaurant you remember no longer exists. The name is the same. The esthetic is the same. Some menu items even have the same names. But the experience is not. During our visit, the calamari, salmon, duck, and haddock were all cooked properly, yet each dish was surprisingly bland and forgettable. Many longtime favorites, including the wide selection of side dishes like the broccoli with blue cheese, are gone. This isn't a bad restaurant on its own merits. The problem is that it's trading on the reputation of something that no longer exists. What I find most puzzling is that the new owners kept the Village Tavern name while abandoning so much of what made it successful. When a restaurant has earned decades of loyalty, you would expect new ownership to preserve its strengths. Instead, it feels like they discarded the very things that built its reputation. I left disappointed, but mostly sad. A restaurant I once considered one of the best in Southern Maine is now simply pedestrian and overly priced. Former fans should adjust their expectations accordingly or avoid the disappointment altogether.
