I started of with a pina colada mocktail. Yummy is a good word. Kris has a caesar salad with lots of whole anchovies & a beautiful piece of salmon. out came my order of their seafood risotto with lobster, shrimp & scallops. The dish could have easily served four people. I had a few bites & couldn't eat anymore. A waste of a $50.00 meal. Whatever it was definitely didn't sit well with me. Big Daddys on Old Orchard Beach did not disappoint. I started with the crab cakes and a house salad. Those crab cakes were all crab, no filler, just the way they should be. For my entree, I had the glazed salmon with coconut curry. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the coconut curry was rich and flavorful. I am a coconut curry lover through and through, and the only thing that would have taken it over the top for me would be a little ginger and a touch of scotch bonnet for that gentle kick. The service was outstanding. Marissa was incredible, attentive, friendly, and full of great recommendations. I will definitely be back when I visit next summer. Between my in-laws and my partner and I, we've probably eaten here over a dozen times over the last few years. Big Daddy's has THE BEST mussels in southern Maine. Specifically, their spicy mussels. Their seafood is locally sourced, fresh, and the sauce is out of this world flavorful, creamy, and the perfect broth for the tender tender mussels. I've given myself heartburn a couple times housing these spicy mussels with their delicious spicy margaritas and it has been worth it everytime. I had dinner here with my husband. They have a Mediterranean pasta dish that's vegetarian on the menu. It has difficult finding restaurants that have options for me. This is the best American food I ever had! It's a family owned restaurant and everything about this place is 10/10! We got on the waitlist for dinner and they served us around 15 minute past because they only have one big party table. The waitresses are super friendly and attentive, they checked in on us a couple times and make sure we got everything we needed. Ribs - 10/10 They come in 3 flavors: honey, garlic, and Tamari. It has a crispy outer layer and juicy and tender on the inside. The flavor is just mouthwatering! Super authentic seasonings and we couldn't get enough. Salmon - 10/10 The salmon had a incredibly crispy skin it's flakey and tender on the inside. Well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I love the beet and potatos underneath. Ribeye steak - 9/10 The steak is perfect medium rare, nicely seasoned and super juicy and tender. The plating with the asparagus was nice. The mashed potatos were good but I think they added cheese so it was a little more goopy than I'd liked. The steak sauce on the side goes well with the mashed potato as well but not that great. Garlic noodles - 10/10 The noodles are so good! My favorite dish!! The noodles soak up the sauce so well , it has so much flavor !!! Super super flavorful and I love that the butter flavor is there yet the noodles are not soggy! Seafood risotto - 9/10 Seafood is perfection , scallops perfectly soft and tender, lobster nice and fresh. The shrimp was a little over cooked and tough. The risotto is super flavorful but again has cheese which was okay, but not a fan of the cheese flavor because it kind of overpowers everything else. This hidden jewel gave us one of our best meals in all of Maine! It was absolutely fantastic! I have never requested to meet the chef before but here we just had to! He was so kind and humble! His food is amazing! The presentation was beautiful, the flavors were insane, we didn't want to stop eating! This place is the epitome of, "Don't judge a book by its cover." A small hole in the wall bar in the downtown area of Old Orchard Beach serving up amazing quality dishes! I have been going here with my family for years. On my most recent visit, I went with the scallop carbonara. The scallops were seared on the outside and juicy on the inside. The pasta was dressed in a delicious sauce, topped with freshly grated cheese, edamame, and crispy bacon. The portion was a perfect amount of pasta where you didn't feel too full. A few years back, I had their Peruvian chicken with the green sauce, and I haven't stopped thinking about it! I hope one day, they will bring it back on the menu because it was SOO GOOD!! I ordered the pan seared salmon and it was quite divine. It came with curry sauce and although I thought there could've been more curry, it was still pretty good. There was just enough soy on the salmon and the summer squash and zucchini were cooked very well and I ate the majority. I don't typically eat all vegetables but these were good. I would definitely order this again. The bathroom doors were fairly tiny but I think that it was very cool I like small bathroom doors. The BLT lobster roll was and I quote "alright, but I ordered it without tomatoes and it came with tomatoes on it." The burgers were "delicious but halfway through pretty salty." The salt was not a good add on because I don't want my Ménière's disease to flare up, but other than that everything was great minus the price. read more

Oh My Gosh! Real delicious food in downtown OOB Wowza!!! Our family enjoys walking around OOB each year but we resolve ourselves to eat "fair food". Until now! My cousins had a great breakfast so we joined them in the afternoon. It is a fairly small place with a bar/pub like atmosphere. We ordered an array of apps which filled us up so we only got a few dishes. Gina was a fabulous waitress with patience, politeness and a wonderful sense of humor. She was attentive, quick, accommodating and made our afternoon wonderful. My 2.5 yr old cousin took to her and held her hand to leave...wanting her to accompany us for the day. Needless to say she couldn't leave work but entertained Abigail and gave her a hug goodbye. Our party of 8 ordered crab cakes, french onion soup, Manhattan clam chowder, ribs, salad w/ grilled chicken, 2 orders of fish n chips, potatos/french fries and an array of drinks. We topped it off with a slice of caramel cheesecake and choc mousse. Everything was amazing. I want to pick which I liked the best but it is tough. The french onion soup was perfect. The broth was light and not too salty with full body flavor. The ribs were sticky tasty...wish I could have ordered another plate of them. 2 crab cakes came out full of meat and not filling. Oh and we also got bacon wrapped scallops. Nothing I would typically order but I shared one with my mom and wish I could have ordered another plate of them. I am not a scallop lover either. Once you realize the name name "Big Daddy's" is from the patriarch of Tennessee Williams Play and Movie. "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof". You will have different expectations when you walk through the door. Starting with the posters of musicians like John Lee Hooker, to the background music of classic Blues. This place makes a statement. The food is great, especially if try the Southern dishes. We had the "Fried Catfish with Crawfish Etouffee", and the "Smoke Shrimp and Grits". They also have many wonderful favorites. One major point. Unlike a lot most other places in OOB. The Lobster used for their rolls is fresh, not frozen canned Canadian. I was a chef and know the difference. One last thing. Do be patient. Like every other restaurant this summer.
