Checked out Jumpin Jakes on advice from some friends that used to camp at Wild Acres right next-door. Unfortunately, this was not a memorable experience. We waited 15 minutes for a waitress to take our drink order and another 15 minutes to get our drinks. The seafood stew was very good! My drink was good, but the clam-scallop plate was Not Good.... the clams had way too much breading and chewy while the breading for the scallops fell right off them. The place wasn't terribly busy but busy nonetheless. Seems like they're understaffed. So I give 2 1/2 stars just for staff effort with a overall 3 star rating but not much more. May give them another try but not certain about that :( read more

We had a good time at Jumpin' Jakes in Old Orchard Beach. We got dinner and drinks here plus played some trivia. I thought the food was good, but service was lacking; not for lack of effort though. The staff was really busy at the time of our visit and I think our poor server just got overwhelmed. It didn't help that we had a group of eight with various orders and preferences. This appeared to be a popular local hangout. This is a low-key, humble, casual restaurant and bar. They had a pool table, a couple dart boards and other games, a bar with TVs to watch sports, and a fairly spacious patio with an outdoor bar too (the outdoor bar wasn't in use during our visit). The place was well-worn and showing its age. If you're visiting from out of town like we were, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but it suited our needs for a quick and easy dinner and drinks out, close to our Airbnb in Scarborough. $24.95 twin lobster was advertised on the street sign. A couple folks in our group ordered that and it looked fresh and delicious. I didn't try any because I'm allergic to lobster. Instead, I had the Blackened Haddock dinner for $26.95. It consisted of a pan-seared haddock filet with mild house blackening seasoning, topped with "fresh" chopped pineapple cucumber salad. The entree came with two sides. I chose a Garden Salad and the "Vegetable of the Day." I asked what the Vegetable of the Day was and was told Green Beans; it was actually Broccoli (as I discovered when my plate hit the table). Everything was good. Four out of five stars for the food. The Haddock tasted fresh and was nicely cooked. The chopped pineapple cucumber salad on top was indeed "fresh" as the menu stated. I love salads and really enjoyed the simple Garden Salad. The portion size was generous. The salad included fresh spring mix, cucumber, shredded carrots, red onion, grape tomatoes, and crunchy croutons. I got mine with ranch dressing. Just a solid side salad. Overall, the Blackened Haddock entree was filling and satisfying. Others in our group got things like the Fried Haddock Bites special ($14.95), Clam Chowder ($7.50 cup, $9.95 bowl), burgers ($14.95 to $18.95 each depending on size and cheese), and more. Jake's serves various other seafood and pizza too. We got several drinks, mostly beer and some cocktails (e.g., Moscow Mule). I had a Diet Pepsi. I got the impression that everyone in our group liked their food and drink OK. The trivia was fun, but I'm not sure how reliable and fair it was. Like every other place, I know they had an outside guy run it, but we were lightning quick (instant) on some answers and of those, only one, maybe two, registered a win. I don't know if the other teams were just that good or if the tablet devices and/or wireless network were having issues. Regardless, our team, the Maine Men, had fun. There were about a dozen teams. Good turnout. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming -- the hostess, our primary server, and other servers/workers. read more

I have to say this is my second time coming to this restaurant tonight first time I didn't have a great luck tonight. I can tell you will be our last time ever coming. We sat at this restaurant for over two hours in our seats for our food. this place was not jampacked they kept saying it's coming. It's coming by the time we left everyone had their meal except my 80-year-old mother who still didn't get her hamburger Hamburger no reason for that service was terrible. Food wasn't even par for a seafood restaurant in Old orchard beach. There are a lot better options next time save your money go somewhere else anywhere else even McDonald's. read more

When we walked in I was a little nervous. Lots of empty tables, carpet had seen better days, and the smell was well, fishy. We were quickly greeted and the woman was so kind I couldn't turn back now. It was 7pm so maybe we just missed a rush? We were seated and our waitress who seemed nervous (maybe new) was very attentive and sweet. Our group ordered twin lobsters, steamer clams, a burger, chicken tenders and Haddock bites. All the food was great! The lobsters were sweet and delicious. This place is great! I came here about a month ago with family on a vacation. It was busy and the parking lot was full. We opted to sit inside due to the blazing heat and it was nice and cool. Even though the hours posted on Yelp and even their menu, we were sat maybe 20 minutes until close (8pm) so I don't know if either they were being really nice or if they extend their hours, but ultimately it was nice. The waitress, busy, yet rather friendly greeted us and we all opted for fun drinks so beat the heat from a beach day. I think she also brought waters with lemon so that was really nice. Our fun drinks came and they were pretty good. We ordered some mussels and I think the pretzel bites. The mussels were massive and I honestly couldn't finish them. The pretzel bites were good too - just not my thing. I'm here for seafood! Ha. They don't have a fisherman's platter, but they can accommodate like a mix and match. So I got the haddock, my sister got fried clams and I think salmon? and my mom got scallops and fried clams. Everything was delicious and great portions. Yum. I ordered another mai tai and I don't think it was made correctly. When our awesome waitress dropped it off, she kinda questioned it too. It was all in good fun and I wasn't bothered by it. I kept it at first because I didn't want to make a scene but I know drinks. I know bad drinks. I did stop the waitress a little later and asked about it. She soon returned with the right drink and kinda shared that the wrong drink was made by someone else. Like I said, it was all in good fun and I only included this into the review because the waitress was kinda funny about it. She has a great personality and this didn't dissuade me at all. The second mai tai was delicious. Definitely no room for dessert and we were NOT rushed in any way. We spent at least a good hour/hour and a half there. It was a great dinner to have with family I don't see often. Overall I'll definitely be back. It's a shame OOB doesn't have more places just like this. It's a great spot to go. The food was okay, mix drinks were terrible. I could not even taste the alcohol, and it was expensive. I think if you stick to bottled or draft drinks you're good. 1st timer- wanted a fried 2 pick dinner. (on the menu) but not available anymore, settled for a fried clam plate. Coleslaw tasted sour (like it went bad, threw it out), tartar sauce-vinegary, eh, I've had much better, ketchup-cheap kind. Clams were fairly good, lightly breaded but the condiments are an important component to the taste. Fries were ok. Was it worth $26- no, but it's Maine and I had my yearly fix. Stopped by on a whim while we were in town and we're glad we did! Smallish little joint (seats maybe 40 inside?) but some really good food. Our waitress (Wendie) was super helpful and recommended the clam cakes, which we excellent. Hubs had fried clams, also very good. We're "locals", so we don't always end up at the summer/tourist spots, but glad we took a chance in this one. Severely overpriced for the food to be as underwhelming as it was. I don't know who their bartender is but when I ordered a "lemon drop martini" what I got was straight vodka with a lemon wedge in a martini glass...my waitress had the nerve to ask if I had ever even had a lemon drop before when I implied it was a bit strong after she asked how my drink was. If I'm spending upwards of $60 dollars on my meal, I'd like my food and drink to be enjoyable. Only upside was the kitschy decor and mural. read more

Walked in and was acknowledged immediately by staff, we watched him hustle to clear a table for us, then got us seated. Waitress came over right away and was so nice. We got a huge special (shrimp & fish) that could have been shared, and a delicious spinach & artichoke pizza my daughter & I split (and had leftovers!) with chicken on one half. We were excited to try a different seafood restaurant since we've only been living in the Biddeford area for the last year or so and we saw jumping Jake's while coming home from the beach. We ordered a fisherman's platter with whole belly clams, scallops, haddock, fries, and onion rings to share. My first mistake was not trusting my gut after having one onion ring and finding it so greasy it was practically dripping. We continued to try all the different things we ordered and seemed pretty pleased other than the greasiness of everything. Then a half an hour to and hour later came the most brutal stomachache I've ever felt. My boyfriend also felt the nausea set in. Around 20 minutes later I vomited up everything we had just had and now have a sore throat. I do not recommend this restaurant. read more

Staying 3 min away so we decided to check it out. Samantha was our server and she was great. She knew we were from IN so she gave us some info on some good places to check out while we're here. Service was great and food was even better. I had the combo chowder and lobster roll and it was a hit ! My husband had the blackened haddock and it was also really good ! Favorite was definitely the roasted goat cheese plate add the mussels and it's a meal. Also haddock bites were awesome, buffalo wings are full size and have so much more meat on them then the tiny wings you get most places. A great patio, kind of a beach party scene. Cons: The service sucked. First, we called for reservations, no, first come first served. We got into a line outside. No taking names, just wait in line (kind of stupid). When we finally got inside, it was 2/3's empty. What the heck? Geeze, well at least that was over with. We waited a good 20 minutes to even be greeted. We had to flag down 1st one waitress, and when that didn't work, we flagged down the guy that seated us. He apologized and said it was his fault he didn't tell our waiter. STILL took another 10 minutes to see someone. By then, I'm pissed and no matter how good to food, the experience is irredeemable. Then we realized they weren't serving any alcohol.. which is a huge bummer. Then they were on a limited menu with very minimal items. This place came recommended by a couple people including our Airbnb host. The service was a bit slow although I knew they were busy, but It was a little frustrating having to ask three times to get a water refill. It's a good sign they were busy though, meant they were really good. I appreciated the pool table and darts available while you were waiting for food. Our server was really awesome to talk to and did a great job explaining the menu and how things were made. We had mussels which ended up being our favorite part. They were perfectly cooked and not gritty at all. My husband had two lobsters and said they were really great. We liked the fries and I enjoyed my lobster roll. Although it surprised me that it was cold since the other one I had tried was warm, but it still tasted fine. The prices on the lobster were definitely lower than we had seen in other places but still seem to be really good quality. We liked the brussel sprouts as well. We ordered a couple of the whoopie pies to go and thought they were pretty good but not quite the same as the ones we had gotten from a food truck the day before. All in all I would recommend to people and they were definitely better than the chain restaurant ae tried when we first arrived. They charge you 4 dollars to use your credit card vs. cash. 45 minutes for a couple of lobster dinners and we were literally the first customers when they opened at 4pm. They also charged you for any side as you just get the lobsters. The side was sauce cup sized. Most all other places in Old Orchard Beach will be better. Old Orchard Beach is a hopping place during the summwr months and it is dilled with many restraunts with a seafood flare. Jumping Jake's Seaford. located on Saco Avenue is one of those good ones. They have a large restaurant with a bar for those who want to stop by for a drink and perhaps an appetizer. There is also an outside dining patio for those who like to dine in the cool summer breeze. I ordered the steamed clams and a bowl of haddock chowder. Sometimes you can order steamers and they are a bit gritty, however the ones Jumping Jake's served were not. They tasted fresh and dull of that dresh seafood flavor. The haddock chowder was full of perfectly cooked flakey pieces of haddock and soft delicate potatoes. They also have a fresh seafood market where you can purchase all your seafood delicacies, especially good old Maine lobster. So, make sure to stop by Jumping Jake's in OOB for a state of Maine seafood experience. read more

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but this was a terrible experience. Food was okay (nothing special), what really ruined the experience was the service. We sat for about 45 minutes without getting any service, I tried to make eye contact with at least 3 staff members, none of them reacted (and they all clearly saw me). When we left, the waitress didn't say thank you or goodbye, didn't look at us at all. I would also like to specify that there was only 3 other tables, restaurant was far from busy and there was about 5 staff members in the place. Jumpin Jake's service and staff was by far the worst I've seen, what could've been an acceptable meal was ruined from start to end, a real shame. Not sure why this place has bad reviews. Had a large group, sat outdoors. Great service, great food. I don't like oysters but figured I'd give them a try cause they were a buck. My 8 year old daughter ate most of them, my husband loved them, and they were delicious! Super fresh! The hard shell lobster was cooked perfect. Only down side was the lobster roll had tail meat, and that's not the usual, but still good. Shrimp plate was on point. Husband raves about the blackened haddock sandwich. We went to jumping jakes for the lobsters. They were delicious. I've never had a soft shell lobster before so it was great that we didn't need anything but our hands to crack them open. Chowder was tasty as well as the scallops. prices were pretty good too. Our only complaint was that we couldn't eat at the outside tables because we ordered take out and therefore couldn't order a couple beers to go with our lobsters. They definitely would've made a lot more money if they allowed us to. Instead we went somewhere else after for drinks. I'd definitely be back for lobsters again! read more
