My local amateur radio club meets once a month for lunch. Yesterday we met at The Local. Looking over the menu, one can see that they offer multiple ethnic categories. Italian, Mexican, and American. Several of my friends ordered the Mexican Enchilada plates. Both commented on how good it was. Another of my friends ordered the hot Italian sub. That looked loaded and terrific. I ordered the large burger with bacon. It was quite excellent. Overall, I was very impressed with the restaurant. Service was quick and professional. I ordered a salad without onion because I get sick if I eat it, and the stronger the onion, especially raw purple, the sicker I get. The salad was delivered covered in them. The waitress said in a smart-alec tone "Well, they're purple onion" as if that made it OK and had no intention of getting me another salad until I said I couldn't eat it. Apparently they picked the onion off the top and sent the same salad back to me because I had to pick out the onions. I wish I could give this place a higher score. We went on a Sunday and being the only people in the restaurant you would think our service would be good. Our server, the owners daughter, was so busy with her friends and in her phone that she never bothered to check back in with us. Food is always good here. The pizza is great as is the Hispanic fare. The wait staff is always friendly and prompt. The only complaint I've ever had was while sitting in the bar area waiting for takeout it was nearly impossible to get a beer. I have eaten here for many times. Service and food is always great. However, tonight I walked in the restaurant at 6:46 to place a takeout order. The server took my order and delivered the drinks and cheese dip I ordered to tide mt hungry 3 year old over until our order was ready. I told the server I had coupons to use when I ordered. 45 minutes later, I finally got food but was told by the owner (over the phone) that they wouldn't accept my coupons. Very disappointed tonight. We have eaten here many times. When we walked in, there weren't any empty tables to sit at, but not because they were busy. The dirty dishes were stacked up and hadn't been bused by the servers at all. The bar tender walked right past us yelling to find the person who ordered the drink he had in his hand. No one attempted to speak to us, not even to say "we'll have a table cleaned up in a minute." We had to turn around and leave because it wasn't worth waiting for the server to decide to clean a table or not for customers. read more

So...I won't be back. I have been to this restaurant 2 times. The first time was underwhelming and today it was just bad. The burger tasted like it was cooked on an unclean grill. The fries tasted like they were cooked in week old grease. They did not ask us about our meal. Didn't ask us if we enjoyed it. We mentioned issue with the fries to the lady that we paid and she said..."The oil was changed Yesterday"...which sounded like what she tells anyone that complains about the fries. That was it. Absolutely horrible! I ordered the Philly cheese steak and it came out dry and they must use canned meat. I told the waitress and she did nothing about it. So I ate some of my co workers pizza which was also tasteless. When I went up to pay I told the owner how horrible it was and he did nothing! I have been here a few times now. I have tried the steak quesadillas, calzones, the Stromboli (my personal favorite), tacos, and a few other things, and when we had the kids and family with us I think someone ordered a pizza. As far as the pizza goes, I have had better. The Stromboli, if you can find a Stromboli around here and it is at least "not bad" TAKE IT! Have I had better ones? Sure! Can I get a better one locally? No, I can't. My wife loves the calzones here and she has tried several items on the Mexican menu. I tried the tacos, they're meh. I recommend trying them when they are on the $1 special. the prices are reasonable. The portions are great. We have never left still hungry. Most of the time, someone has leftovers. Sadly, it is never me though. Now granted, there isn't much to a quesadilla, but I have had some bad ones. This place has really good ones. they always seem to know how to cook them golden and crispy with juicy steak and gooey cheese. They're not dry, they're not blackened or charred, they're just good. I think the quesadillas and the calzones are both on special on Fridays. The chips and salsa is complimentary with purchase. The chips are good and salty and crisp (they're chips, they shouldn't be served f they are not). The salsa tastes great. It has a little heat to it, but not bad. My only complaint is that the salsa is very thin and watery. I personally like mine mild to hot, but chunky, hearty, and robust with flavor. It's hard to find a really good salsa. We aren't regulars, but if we lived on this side of town, we could be. read more

Decided to try something new on my lunch break today. I must say that I was NOT impressed took me 30 minutes to receive my order. Once I received took 1 bite and quickly realized it was the worst lasagna I have ever ate in my life. Pure sauce no meat hardly any cheese. Tasted like pure tomato sauce. My salad was cover in onions and black olives which by the way I hate. I litterly sat there waiting on my server to return to complain maybe get something better but she never returned attentively to ask after dropping off my food. Mind you I only have 1 hour for lunch. I went to the counter to let them know It was not good and they still made me pay for food I did not even eat but 1 bite of. At the least should have been made to pay for my drink. Staff was not helpful at all. Also would recommend taking the lasagna off the menu. No one should ever be served a sorry excuse of lasagna or at least add meat and more cheese give it some flavor besides the taste of tomato sauce. After working in a restaurant for more than 16 years I know that I should have never of been made to pay for that meal. Instead it was like she was saying hell no your paying for it anyways. Who knows maybe something else on the menu would have been worth $10 but not that. Should have at least been offered something different. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone ever. So if you try proceed with caution. So with that said I will be giving this location 1 star just because it want let me chose no star which it deserves. read more
