Attention is paid to noise control - it's really nice to be able to hear your table mates :)

We haven't been there for a long time and that was a mistake! Super fun and funky atmosphere, great food, great beer, and good service!

This place has all the right pub vibes with style and class! The staff is super fun and knowledgeable. This is my third time in and the experience is always the same and we love - consistency (when it's this level of good). I grabbed the fish and chips which is my absolute favorite in town. The batter is everything you want. Speaking of which - their fries are the perfect complement with their seasoning and crisp. Highly recommend!!!

I visited as part of a party at 6 at lunchtime on a Saturday. It was only moderately busy, which made for a quiet, enjoyable environment. The brunch menu was in effect, which had a mix of breakfast and later-day items. While most of my party ordered breakfast, I had a salad with added chicken. The chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful, and the whole salad was wonderful. I really loved the candied walnuts and wish I knew where they got them! Service was great the whole time, too, with the separate checks handled in good time.

If you are a fish and chips fan this is the place for you. I'm not much for fish and chips but others in my group are and said it's some of the best they've had in the Twin Cities. I got the Corned Beef and Cabbage which was excellent! Another group member got the Hearty Shepherd's Pie and said it was very good. Portion sizes are large here so yiu get your monies worth. We were here midweek so it wasn't packed, but service was on the slower side. This gave us the opportunity to chat uninterrupted, but it would have been nice to be checked on a bit more frequent. It's a large restaurant with very comfortable chairs and various table sizes to accommodate groups of all sizes.

The Reuben is the best I've ever had, and I've had many. They make the corned beef here and the ratios of ingredients are perfect. Add the buttery, crispy rye bread and I'm in heaven. Also, the booths are awesome. Floor to ceiling decorative glass panels and beautiful upholstered seats. Very nice!

Decided to grab a quick bite and drink before meeting up with friends at Punch Bowl Social. Upon entering, we noticed it looked fairly empty but wanted to give it a try. Our server was super friendly and we were seated right away. We started with a few drinks, which were quite good! Definitely a strong pour (thanks bartender). The pot roast and chicken sandwich were recommended, in addition to the bourbon bites so we placed our order. The bourbon bites were hot and fresh, but a bit salty for my liking. The pieces of chicken were also pretty small. The server raved about the pot roast and you could smell it coming from the kitchen so we were excited to try. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE POT ROAST. It lacked flavor, salt, and tenderness. Definitely not grandma's pot roast. The chicken sandwich also fell pretty flat for me but was edible. I think if you're in the area and want to grab a quick drink, this could be a decent place for that. Dinner? I'd skip and find someplace else. Great service though!

One of my go to spots for fish and chips when I get that craving Service this time around was pretty slow and the place isn't busy Prefer the downtown location but this is closer to home Easy parking in the free parking lot at west end shops

There's lots of parking options at West End. My friend and I sat at the bar and had drinks and split a couple of apps. The bartender was very friendly. It's a great place to go to with friends.

We had a great time trying the local. I've drive by many times but never tried it. The space is open and bright and was family friendly. My husband got the walleye fish and chips and I got the Irish poutine as my main. Both were good. The kids meals are cute and I love that they all come with fruit. They also have a cool loyalty program that rewards you when you sign up, on your birthday, and at various times of the year. One negative was the cocktails.. I tried the Tequila Mockingbird and it was flavorless. But I guess tequila is not a pub specialty.. We will be back!

Amazing soup! Everyone tried a new soup today. Friends have loved their tomato soup, - I tried it & loved it! Also soup of the day autumn squash got raves. Then shepherds pie, pot roast sandwiches, fish & chips (yum!), corned beef sandwiches and a great curry too! We loved everything. Great place to celebrate birthdays! Staff is cool, great people, good music. Great craic. IYKYK

The pub vibes at the Local are immaculate! This is a favorite spot for us to come in the winter or when it's rainy to feel cozy. ATMOSPHERE: This is what you come for! I love the vibes in here, especially when cold or rainy. If you're lucky, get one of the enclosed booths around the edges! FOOD: Get their chicken shots! I had the Rachel this time and wished it has more flavor/sauce. My partner had the burger and it was average. Good comfort / classic pub food! HAPPY HOUR: $2 off drinks and apps on weekdays 3-6pm I believe. SERVICE: Friendly and efficient! Our food was out so fast last night. Great spot to cozy up in West End!

We went this last week with a large group before a show and had another great experience. We didn't make any sort of reservation and they were able to seat us right away. The interior has that classic vintage pub feel with lots of character and natural light. There are tons of booths and different seating areas that could accommodate parties of all sizes. I especially liked the glass dividers between some of the booths, which give you a little extra privacy without making the space feel closed off. My booth also had coat hooks and easy access to outlets, which I appreciated. I could definitely see myself coming here for a working lunch. My server was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially as I was trying to figure out how to use a couple of rewards I had on my account. I specifically came in wanting to try the fish and chips. Their lunch menu offers smaller portions of several dishes from the dinner menu, including a fish and chips option for around $15. I really wanted to try the walleye, though, so I ended up ordering the full dinner portion for around $28. The fish was absolutely the star of the plate. The breading was fantastic--crunchy around the edges while still light and fluffy--and the fish inside practically melted in my mouth. The tartar sauce was also really good and paired perfectly with it. The sides, unfortunately, didn't impress me nearly as much. There were plenty of fries, but they were pretty average, and the coleslaw was mostly cabbage with a light dressing. It felt like it was missing some acidity or lime to give it a little more personality. For almost $30, I also expected the meal to be a bit more substantial. I left satisfied, but found myself hungry again a couple of hours later, so I'm not sure the dinner portion felt worth the price for me. If you're mainly curious about their fish and chips, I'd probably recommend trying the smaller lunch portion first rather than committing to the more expensive dinner version. Would I come back? Absolutely--the atmosphere, service, and location alone make The Local worth another visit, and I noticed several other dishes on the menu I'd be interested in trying. I just don't know that I'd order this particular meal again. The fish itself was excellent, but for me, the sides and overall value didn't quite match it.

I was greeted by the hostess outside and although the patio looks lovely it was 96* and I opted for inside (I do not live in MN for the heat!). There are lots of fun photos on the wall and soccer team banners hanging from the ceiling. After being seated I was immediately given water and silverware and looked over the menu. There is a good cocktail, wine, and beer menu with Guinness, of course, and several Irish whiskeys. My server, Bill, was a delight. We talked about our dogs (mini dachshund for me, Malinois for him) and our shared love of Costa Rica. I ended up ordering the French Onion soup and a Lobster Roll with fries. The soup came out first and it was just as sumptuous and beefy as I hoped. The melted Gruyère and caramelized onions made a hearty starter. The Lobster Roll was perfect: chopped lobster on a warm, buttered, toasted roll topped with slivers of pickled carrots. The lobster was chilled and didn't need any dressing at all. The fries were plentiful, thin, and perfectly crispy yet still tender inside. A home run. Excellent food, warm and welcoming atmosphere, and terrific staff made it a delightful lunch.
