    Gaelic Whiskey chicken Bites

This is a nice spot for game day and they had great drink deals, for the soccer game; $5 beers and ciders! The service got slow as the place filled up, which is to be expected but then they didn't bring our last round of drinks. They do that annoying thing where they take your card and run it on a handheld device without even giving you the check first. I called out the waitress because the bill seemed high and it turned out she had charged us for 2 drinks that were never brought out and didn't adjust for that game day price. Make sure you ask for your receipt before you pay!

Here the atmosphere, drinks and staff are great. The food is hit it miss. Tonight our fish meals were amazing! See photos, but I'd love to get the Whiskey-Glazed Norwegian Salmon the next time I go back! The sauce was flavorful, the fish had a sweet and crispy outside wth a flakes inside. My partner had the cod fish & chips, which was also delicious. I would strongly avoid the cheese curds- no good! They have a big drink menu, but you must get whiskey while here. The bar is a beautiful display of all the options. Behind the bar is a party room. Kids do well here because it's already pretty loud and they have an entire kids menu. Patio is inclosed and warmed by heaters as needed. Lastly, come for the game, there are plenty of tvs to watch any and all of the games!

Awesome place for Happy Hour. Loved the Irish Pub vibes. Service was excellent; our server checked on us often and kept our drinks filled. I only tried the pretzel but it was delicious- served warm with sauces of honey butter and a spicy mustard.

Great Irish Pub. We enjoyed the Finnegans 25th Anniversary Celebration. The Blood Orange and Irish Amber were great. The staff did a great job of taking care of a large group. The food was very good. We had a walleye sandwich and shepherds pie. Very tasty.

Stopped for dinner on our way to a show at the armory and this is a must try in the area. The Local is a fantastic Irish pub with a welcoming atmosphere and a menu full of delicious options. The food is flavorful and hearty, with classic Irish dishes and some creative twists that keep you coming back for more. I ordered their chicken sandwich which was delicious and had a different but great tang to it. The mashed potatoes are a must as they were fresh and the gravy was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the steak frites. His fries were deliciously crisp I stole a few and the steak was cooked a perfect medium. What sets The Local apart is its impressive selection of non-alcoholic drinks. I ordered their gin and no-tonic which was a delicious ginger mocktail! Whether you're taking a break from alcohol or just prefer a good mocktail, they've got plenty of tasty choices to enjoy. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that it can get quite busy, especially during peak hours, which it seems the hostess stand is left unattended for some time. We waited a bit for someone to return to the front. As the restaurant itself is very large. However, the staff is always friendly and accommodating, making the overall experience well worth it. Our server was absolutely phenomenal and she was fantastic and I feel horrible I don't remember her name! Highly recommend stopping by for a bite or drink!

I'm not sure I'd like The Local as much as I do if it didn't have the gorgeous interior. The food was solid and service was solid, but it REALLY sets itself apart with the interior. From the pillars to the semi-private seating areas to all of the old-school, dark-wooden tavern vibes, this place is just gorgeous. PROS: -Really. The building is beautiful and old-world. According to the manager, most of the pillars and finishes were crafted in Ireland, shipped over here, and assembled here on site. From elaborate chandeliers over tables to old-school newspaper hanging racks to a "Kissing Room" with swinging doors, The Local feels like a cleaned-up, modern version of an elaborate, expensive old world tavern. -Within those pillars, The Local has small "rooms". If you get a larger table that seats 5-10, your table may be inside of one of these faux "rooms". They have glassed off walls on most sides with an open, no-door entrance. This helps reduce noise traveling from your group, and it also gives you a light sense of privacy. It feels a bit like paying extra for private dining experience - only it doesn't cost anything. I absolutely love these mini rooms. -Food was good. With an appetizer and two entrees, two people did not go home hungry. -Bathrooms are clean and spacious. For a place located right next to the Target and in the center of a ton of downtown businesses and bus stops, that's really important to me. -The lunch portions are probably like 3/4th the size of the dinner portions, and their couple-dollar discounts match that. I like that I can come here for a lunch and get their lunch portions (If I want! They still serve dinner options) at lunch for a lighter feel. -Service has been really friendly here. Beyond friendly, really. Joking and laughing with us, happy to offer suggestions, and encouraging us to look around the place and giving us some backstory to The Local building as a whole. Everybody has been really welcoming here. -SO much seating here. Lots of booth and bar seating (like 3 "different" bars) with an entire outdoor patio area too. There are some lowtop, no-arm chairs as well with decently-spaced walkways for getting through spaces. Most of the lowtops seem to be outside though, as an FYI for anyone needing that accessibility. CONS: -The Celtic Pretzel pricing just annoys me. It's a good pretzel. Solid pretzel. But it's a regular, normal ol' sized (about the size of your hand) soft pretzel for $12. That's absolutely insanely overpriced. That type of pretzel is usually $4-6 at most establishments with multiples running in the $15 range as an appetizer. (I order appetizer pretzels virtually anywhere they're available, so I do consider myself pretty versed in this area.) -I wasn't in love with the cocktail menu. Good beer selection, though, as a fallback.

Irish pub/restaurant in downtown Minneapolis. It offers good taps (Guinness & Finnegans!). Good pub grub, Irish-style. This visit, I enjoyed their Walleye sandwich: well prepared with crunchy, delicious walleye! I especially loved the side of greens instead of French fries! Good service from our server tonight, especially since it was busy! A little touch of Ireland, found here

We popped in here for a quick lunch before our flights back home. Loved the Irish pub feel it had to it. They had an awesome $14.99 lunch menu that had their best sellers but at a smaller portion at a lower price. The food was absolutely amazing and just light enough for lunch. We all ordered the fish and chips and were all talking about it afterwards. Great spot for lunch, but I'd love to come back for dinner.

Great location in the heart of Minneapolis. Ample seating both for tables and at the bar. As a true Irish bar, their beer selection is quite large. With TVs everywhere it's the perfect place to catch your favorite sporting event. Started with a braised beef poutine which was rather generous and tasty, and for the main a very indulgent Shepherds Pie that is big enough to split. Come for the beer and sports, stay for the pub food!

We were a party of 12. All of us who had the salmon got sick (3 of us). the grain bowl tasted great and fresh otherwise. The appetizers were fine. We also made a reservation for 12 and they tried to seat us in the weirdest bar stool seat and we refused, asked to be seated outside and they begrudgingly accommodated. The whole experience was annoying. Our waiter was also a sourpuss - I'm not asking for a smile, but man, that type of bad vibe transfers. We were also asked to leave after 90 mins- that was fine since we did know about this but I didn't know anyone enforces it after Covid. Whatever. I was disappointed and won't be back.

Great food and amazing architecture...what more could you ask for? Went here right before seeing Orville Peck and it was a lovely assortment of libations and food. Our server was very knowledgeable and gave us good insight on any questions we had. I would love to come here again and just gawk at the architecture. It was quite splendid. Cheers!

Huge bar top surrounded by TVs, lots of Irish decor, and cute booths that really lean into the theme. Unfortunately, things started off a little rough. The person I met there waited over 10 minutes at the host stand before anyone acknowledged them. Once we were seated, it also took a while before our server came by. That said, our server ended up being super friendly and attentive the rest of the visit. We ordered an Irish lemonade, a cold beer, and the Gaelic Whiskey Bites. They were exactly what you'd expect with an extra crunchy exterior, but the sauce was actually really good! Honestly made me wish I had tried a burger with that sauce instead, but we weren't hungry enough for more food. Overall, it's a decent neighborhood Irish bar, but nothing really stood out to me. The host originally seated us in a space that did not fit our party. Then he moved us to a center spot in a long, family-style table with people on either side of us. We had a five year old with us who was overly tired and very spunky and we had to try to keep her focused on us and not our neighboring patrons. Was really not the most appropriate seating for children but we didn't want to ask for yet another table. Soon after we sat down, we discovered that the parties on both sides of us were upset and looking for any employee so they could express their frustration. Seeing as we were all so close, we could hear them complain to others in their parties about the service. We learned shortly that we should have written up our losses early and moved on. We didn't. We ordered our beverages and immediately got water. The rest (2 soft drinks, an iced tea, and a milk) slowly trickled out one by one. The waiter apologized every single time he came to the table about how slow everything was from us being seated to getting our drinks to him coming to take our order. Once the food came out, he was apologizing again for how long that took. He wasn't wrong. As for the food, it was fine. Portions were average to smallish for the price. It wasn't as special as we had hoped it would be based on the descriptions. We each got something different and all said that we wouldn't order that item again. Not that it was bad. It just wasn't good. The best thing we had was the pretzel stick appetizer. That was pretty good but for the price, we wouldn't order it again. Nothing was super memorable except the decor which was super fun to look at. Oh and the very apologetic waiter. Our food came out hot. Turns out that was not true for the table to our left. The table to our right got the wrong food so half their group was done while the others were just starting. Apparently one of the cooks had called in. So, over all, I gave them an optimistic 3 stars. It was like a participation award with the assumption that if they were firing on all cylinders, it could have been much better. Personally, i wouldn't try them again but as the only Irish pub in the area, it could be a neat happy hour hang out. It just was not a family lunch spot.

The place is literally in the shadow of the massive newer U.S.Bank Bank stadium where the Vikings play, and Brooke commented that this place is jumping on game days. I know from my experiences at places around Wrigley Field that these "game day" restaurants can literally survive solely off the business they do when the home team is playing, but this place was pretty busy for a random Wednesday night. On Brooke's recommendation we split the Reuben Poppers and the Belfast Wrap. The Reuben Poppers were basically like Reuben egg rolls - stuffed with corned beef, sauerkraut and Swiss cheese. They were delicious. We got some thousand island dressing for dipping, and they were piping hot - right out of the fryer.... Really good. The Belfast Wrap was also really good. It was filled with tender steak, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes lettuce and a chipotle aioli.. it came with waffle fries.. again, just really good. Prices were pretty high for what it was, $17 for a cheeseburger is pretty outrageous, cottage pie in a ramekin was $18. Server wasn't very friendly, or was just in a bad mood that day. She spent a lot of time in the back (this was between major meal times, around 3:30-4) so she didn't seem super engaged or have much desire to be out on the floor. 3% surcharge for credit card
