Great experience for our first ever ski trip!! Very comfortable and perfectly located right at the slopes. Friendly staff, easy parking; easy and scenic 10 minute drive into town. There's a cozy coffee shop on site and a small market across the street. 1-BR King suite was much bigger than expected. Nice bathrooms and kitchen. Loved the gas fireplace. The gym is fine (average hotel gym) and we enjoyed the indoor-outdoor pool as well as the outdoor hot tub. Would definitely stay here again in Crested Butte! read more

We travel all over the place and this was one of the worse lodging experiences we have ever had. We got a king. Size bedroom in the room looked nothing like the pictures. All I had was a bed and a dresser. No chair. Our air-conditioning was broke and the room look like a hospital room. We brought all of this to the front desk attention and they said there was nothing they could do because it was booked. They did end up having maintenance come up look at the AC and then decide to bring in a mobile air-conditioning venting it outside the window. The maintenance gentleman was awesome and the only person at the hotel that seemed to care. We will never stay here again. read more

We stayed here for 2 nights, and our room was amazing! It was so spacious with a kitchenette, dishwasher, washer/dryer, big bathroom, and seating area. There was no A/C which is why it doesn't have a 5 star review. We really like our room chilly while we sleep, and it wasn't that chilly at night to get it to our perfect "sleeping weather." The free shuttle to town was convenient just right outside the back door. We used the hot tub and sauna and were the only ones there, which was nice. We came the week of Labor Day, and it seems that everything closes up on Labor Day. So just a note for anyone wanting to plan a fall getaway--however, there are some amazing hiking trails just north on Gothic. The views were so worth it! read more

Hmmm...what to say? This room (409A) was...weird. Let's start with the positives: - the room was very clean with a good mattress and down linens - location can't be beat if you want to be in the thick of the ski resort! - the staff at the front desk was super friendly and helpful! 5 stars!!! We had a bit of a snafu as we had booked via a "last-minute hotel room" app just a few hours before arriving. We had been using this app throughout our spontaneous roadtrip week with no issue. As a family of 4, we searched available rooms in the app based on "4 adults" since our sons are teens, and the app recognizes that and automatically sets us up with 2 queen beds (vs 1 king). However, despite our confirmation stating "2 beds", when we entered our room there was only 1. Thinking it was just a mistake, we trekked back downstairs to advise them we needed a room with 2 beds. Interestingly, we were told there are no rooms at the Lodge with 2 beds - that all of their rooms only have 1 bed. Odd. However, the gentleman at the front desk was awesome and offered to send up 2 complimentary rollaways. He saved the day! (This same gentleman had also given us advice on what was happening in CB that weekend that we should know about, and offered solid suggestions for a couple nearby day hikes. He was very quite awesome and informative!) Now, here are all the weird things: - as mentioned, no rooms with 2 beds??? Take heed all you families out there considering this place for your next ski vacay! - the rollaways only had a top sheet (no fitted sheet and no blanket!) - by the time we realized the lack of adequate linens (above) it was 10:15pm and the front desk was...closed. Yep. Gone. - need shampoo + conditioner? There's none of that but they do offer "creme rinse" (WTH is that???) and moisturizer. (FYI that I did try the creme rinse on my hair in case that was just a fancy way of saying shampoo. Rest assured creme rinse is NOT shampoo.) - the only mirror in the whole room is the small 14x20 (I measured!) above the bathroom sink - there is a toaster oven but no kitchen/bar sink...so you're washing dishes in the bathroom - there were exactly 2 plates and 2 bowls. Not exactly adequate even if only 2 people! Sometimes you need an extra to put stuff on or heat something up in. Chintzy. - a shower nozzle straight from 1982. (I realize that's a super picky First World Problem kind of thing to mention, but some people want to know those things!) Alas...my personal favorites... - even the artwork is weird. One of two prominent canvases was a photograph of a beautiful double rainbow over the mountains...with a very tall chainlink fence running the length of the roadway in the foreground. It's the kind of chainlink fence you'd find around a military installment or an electric substation, razor wire and all! Not exactly what you'd consider attractive. My husband and I wondered aloud whether perhaps it was intentional juxtaposition - nature's beauty vs man made ugliness - but the more we stared we realized it was just taken by an amateur photographer who was too busy snapping the rare double rainbow to notice the giant pink elephant sitting front and center. - housekeeping walked in at 9:15am without even knocking. Sadly, it wasn't that they knocked and I didn't hear them. I know this for a fact because I happened to be standing, in my pajamas, right next to the door when they stuck their key in and opened it. There was an excruciatingly long moment of silence as we stared at each other, followed by numerous I'm-so-sorrys. But seriously? No knock first??? - lastly, we had a little fun with the "window" to the bathroom from the bedroom. This "window" is covered by two sliding shutters which open and close from the bedroom side and, unfortunately for whoever wants a private moment in the lavatory, cannot be locked. With two teen boys, this immediately became a source of practical jokes but, let's be honest...it's just plain weird. Had it been there to let in more light or because there was a superb view from the commode, it *might* make more sense. But there wasn't so it didn't. Came in the summer to do some hiking and we booked our room online. The Lodge is well maintained and the rooms are clean. Most rooms are large and even our "A" room, which is one of the smallest, had plenty of room and closets. Reasons I will not give it additional stars are, we were not told when booking that we are being charged $20 a day for parking. If we had known, we probably would have looked for a place with free parking. Also, there was a resort charge that we did not know prior to booking. Overall, not a bad place to stay, but it was not the best experience for us. read more

Was so excited to stay here, booked online two nights before. At check in all was good. The heated garage was pretty neat but being here in summer didn't need it but still cool! The room was really neat with a lodge feel, including repurposed wood. Our windows offered a great view but thought we were supposed to have a balcony The room was good but warm..... here's the hiccup..... a noted typed & taped to AC informed us it was broken. I called downstairs and was told it had been out for weeks and expected to be out for several more but they could send a fan up. I explained my disappointment that was not shared at check in. She told me it should have been in the confirmation email and was on the website. She did waive the resort fees and parking fees. BUT THERE WAS NO AC, being from Texas that's scary. I will admit with one window open and the fan it got cold and I slept like a baby. The AC was listed as an amenity on web no mention that I could find of it being out of order. Anyways we opened the window (couldn't open the second one because the screen was missing. NEXT HICCUP,,,,, one small square of hand soap. If you wanted shampoo, lotion or bath soap it was in pump bottles and would be a charge of $20 per bottle. The saving Grace... the bathtub!!!! OMG the about two and half getting deep and wide..... if only I had shower fell to make a bubble bath but $20... nope. They did provide a small pouch of bath salts but really couldn't tell in all that water but I could float in that tub. Would stay there again but would plan better to bring my own stuff. read more

This hotel/condo building exceeded or every expectation. It's convenience is outstanding, the staff are the best of the entire experience. Our unit was beautifully decorated and aside from some sparse kitchen amenities, provided us everything we needed for a home away from home. Highly recommend. Plan to come back. read more

Service- very minimal service here except the cleaning staff. They did a spectacular job cleaning..really better than most hotels Rooms - they are good for the price range but I think it's on the border of a 3 or 4 Star experience..the toiletries are 4 or 5 Star and do is the bed quality. Everything else about the room is 3 stars Location is awesome! Ski in and out location Bottom line.. stay here for the location. The price to quality ratio is on par. This hotel is rated a 4 Star but I'd say it's on the edge to 3 stars. We came in the summer for a wedding in the area. We had friends staying at various hotels and b&b properties; they all had complaints. The Lodge at Mountaineer Square was great!!! Very nice spacious rooms & the hotel was walking distance to the ski lift at Crested Butte. All the staff were very friendly. Good view out our window too. Plus it was air conditioned; some other properties were not. Route 66 restaurant on the back courtyard had large outside decks with amazing views of the mountains. The little town is fun with lots of good restaurants & shops! I will definitely come back to Crested Butte, AND I would certainly stay at this Lodge again!!! Highly recommend. read more

We had a 3 night stay in June 2017 for a family reunion/wedding. We rented a 1 bedroom suite. Lots of space and a full kitchen with a table for six to sit at. There was a full size washer and dryer in the unit as well. The location is great and central to everything in Mount Crested Butte. It's about a 5 minute drive into downtown Crested Butte. The dining options at the hotel and next door are limited and not very good. Also, the front desk didn't seem to have very much knowledge about the surrounding places to eat when we asked. Parking is $20/day to stay in their underground lot otherwise you can park for free behind the hotel in a dirt lot. The internet was very fast (30mbps download speed) and was free. The bathroom that was shown in the pictures for the 1 bedroom suite was no where close to what we got. The picture showed a double sink with lots of counter space and our unit had a single sink with zero counter space. Would stay here again if we are ever lucky enough to make it back to Mount Crested Butte. read more

Updated review based on a response from the manager. This is the second time we've stayed at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square. Paid more for a "penthouse" unit and while it was just across the hall from the last unit we rented, it was larger and much nicer with a view of the mountain. Pros: - Location is fantastic, right behind the lifts and ski valet is very convenient. - Definitely appreciate the way the unit is furnished and decorated. A huge upgrade to the place we stayed previously. One of the two beds is very comfortable. - Housekeeping replaced a broken coffee pot without having to ask. They'd put it in the dishwasher and the pot cracked during the cycle. Left it on the counter and it was replaced that day. - Appreciate that they use full, refillable containers for toiletries and at least made an effort at supplying liquid hand soap for each of the sinks. Minor: - I was not expecting any housekeeping, but just reviewed the email they sent and it is included if you stay more than 3 days (we're here for 5). They emptied the dishwasher and the kitchen trash. I appreciate that. I have come to expect no housekeeping during Covid Additional supplies for the bathroom and/or wiping down the counters would have been preferable if they were going to bother coming in. I wish my expectations had been set. They did knock early (9AMish) on our last full day and asked if we needed anything. - Hot tub and pool were unavailable at least one day. The website said they were open when we booked. When we inquired today as to the location of the pool (not obvious), they unapologetically said they were "checking the chemicals" and to check back in a few hours. Thankfully the manager returned my call to explain that someone had spilled a beer and that upset all the chemicals and what not. I understand that and the sincere apology offered. Just wish that would have been stated in the first place. - No measuring spoons in the kitchen. Thankfully we bring most of our own necessary supplies. - Second bed isn't very comfortable, nor is the couch. read more

It was over 80° when I stayed at The Lodge and the AC was broke for 3 of my 4 day stay. I was offered a discount to stay instead of moving but what was applied was less than what was offered and agreed upon. Also THIS IS NOT A MOUNTAIN BIKE friendly hotel. No secure storage and bikes not allowed in rooms. The rooms are clean but generic and dated and not well accented. The resort fees do not include parking. If you want to park below the hotel, plan on $20 more each day of your stay. If your room is quoted at $199, plan on spending $280 with taxes, fees and parking. Just doesn't seem a good value for the money, even in Crested Butte. read more

The service could not be less professional. We were staying there with several other couples. Each couple had a very different check in process. Some received maps and recommendations and others left the front desk with only a room key. Our room had issues with the AC and we were informed it would be fixed while we were out. It never was since our room temp never varied from 74 degrees but according to the staff it was working perfectly. The worst experience came from two quasi security guards who had absolutely no service or customer experience training. With so many wonderful places to stay, don't chance it with this one! read more

The good: This lodge is great, free shuttle back and forth from your room to the downtown, awesome hot tub, pool, sauna and work out room. It's in a beautiful location with amazing restaurants (gluten free and vegetarian friendly), bars and coffee shops. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. There is a free parking lot if you don't feel like paying for the under ground lot they offer. The bad: you can hear every thing from the outside window, windows are paper thin, very hard to sleep. Also, shower pressure is poor. read more

Great resort. Have stayed several times- never disappointed. Great staff and rooms are well furnished and spacious. Penthouse is awesome with a massive balcony. We stayed in 223 which is also a 3 bedroom but it was noisy in the morning due to snow removal and trash removal? Lots of truck noise and beeping etc. All in all a great place to stay- certainly enough space for a large family. Would come again and recommend to others. read more

We stayed here while we were in town for a wedding! Fantastic hotel - no complaints at all. We had the full kitchen with living room and there were doors separating it from the bedroom which was great! For our family of 3, it was the perfect size. We checked in really late and the night manager was so helpful and kind. Worth the money! read more

At the base of the mountain just steps from the ski lift! Friendly and welcoming staff from first arrival and throughout your stay, making you feel like everyone at the lodge genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay at the hotel and crested butte. Right outside the hotel there is a shuttle bus every 15 minutes to downtown crested butte or the hotel shuttle service is timely, reliable and friendly. The Camp for Coffee store downstairs is reasonably priced for a quick breakfast and lunch. The only downside is leaving! read more

Hidden Fees This is a very nice hotel, but beware of the fees that will be added to your bill. They charge $20/day for parking, and also charge a $12/day "resort" fee (charged at check out) that apparently covers things like wifi and the pool. Again, the lodge is a lovely place to stay, but you should be ready to fork over a little more money than you planned for. read more

My friend and I go to a different ski/board location every year. This year we stayed in Crested Butte at the Lodge at Mountaineer square. Great location, great place to stay. We had a 2 bedroom condo with a fireplace. Nice furnishings, new kitchen, washer and dryer. The staff was so accommodating and super nice. They run a free shuttle service to town (you just have to schedule the ride). The free town bus is right out front. Steps to the lift. They also have fresh choc chip cookies in the lobby. If we come back to CB at some point, I'd def stay here again. read more

My new husband and I spent a night at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square for one night during our honeymoon. We were on a tour of several Colorado ski towns and Crested Butte definitely outdid them all (including Aspen and Telluride)! The staff immediately made us feel at home, especially Toby at the front desk. Since we were visiting during the off season, he gave us some great dinner recommendations of places that would be open (Soupcon - check it out!). He even called to make a same-day reservation for us. We were upgraded to one of their deluxe studios and greeted with celebratory champagne and a wedding card with a beautiful hand-drawn illustration of the surrounding mountains. I'm from Colorado so I don't typically stay at ski resorts as I just drive home after a day on the slopes, but I imagine this hotel is in a league of it's own. Our room was one of the most spacious hotel rooms I've stayed in, with a full size refrigerator, washer/dryer, and his and hers closets. After a long weekend filled with family and friends, it was nice to turn on the fire place and relax on the sofa watching the football game. For a studio this place was huge! I've lived in two bedroom apartments that were smaller. We absolutely enjoyed celebrating our honeymoon in Crested Butte and hope to come back to the Lodge in the future. My husband and I came on our honeymoon, the staff upgraded us to a suite and gave us a bottle of champagne and a very sweet card! Coffee shop "camp 4" was AWESOME! Room was spacious and so clean!
