What a day! We just got off the water from a rafting trip with Three Rivers Outfitters and it was absolutely splendid! The Lower Taylor was flowing perfectly, the weather was pure magic, and we couldn't have asked for a better guide. Mya was an absolute blast! She handled a little on-river drama like a total pro and had us laughing the entire way down. And a huge shout-out to Michelle at Three Rivers Resort for being so incredibly helpful. We are completely in love with our cabin, the delicious restaurant, the stunning views, and especially the people here. Everyone has been so welcoming and friendly. BEWARE: VERY UN-DOG FRIENDLY PLACE!! (Most good reviews are very old!!) I stopped by here to hopefully find my adorable little Brittany an Orvis dog coat and leash. I hadn't been in the store for 5 minutes when I was told "dogs are not allowed in here - you will need to tie up your dog outside!" Seriously? In super hot weather!?!And this store is an "outdoor store!" You people need to stay out of the "outdoor biz" if you're so UN-dog friendly! read more

We've been coming here for the last several years because of the location. The proximity to the river is what brings us back.......really the only thing for me. Other than that, 3Rivers is average at best. The restaurant is okay, nothing exceptional, common areas including check-in are more Comfort Inn than resort! But the biggest issue is the price vs. value. I find the cost of the cabins extraordinary for what you get especially when things don't work. Although the staff responds quickly things are missed that shouldn't be. Loose faucet handles, burned out bulbs, fixtures sitting on top of valances that don't work. To summarize , the attention to detail is missing! Again the value doesn't justify the cost! read more

I've been coming to three rivers since I was basically in the womb! This was our first return in quite some time, bringing my grandparents as well. We loved to be back! Bonus points for dog friendly accommodations. The proximity to the Taylor river alone is a selling point but the team members are all so kind! We opted to raft the upper Taylor one day and it was a blast- thanks Mitch! We are already looking forward to returning next year. read more

This is a hard review to write, not because there were issues and not because it was great, it's more to do with the lack of information made available prior to staying that my review is middle of the road. First, let me start off of by saying the cabin was clean and offered JUST the basics. There was a bed, no head board and directly below a set of overhanging cabinets (not sure the purpose here other then to help wake you up quickly after hitting your head on them forgetting they are there). The mattress on the bed is probably one of the cheapest made mattresses out there. You can feel every spring and each spring made a noise no matter how careful you were to move. On multiple occasions we were woken up to a spring "springing" as it popped back into place. The two mattresses in the loft weren't much better and just sit on the floor (only about 4' clearance up there). I'm 6'6" tall and not small by any means. The ceilings are 7' tall so if you are cluster-phobic, this is not the place for you. There are handles sticking out in the hallway so spent much of the time walking sideways so as not to catch clothes waking from bedroom to bathroom and kitchen. My wife, normal height and weight (nothing like her husband) did just that and tore her dress on the way to the wedding. Round nobs or recessed handles might be a better option from anyone that works there that might read this. It was cozy, but the parking lot view was not what we were expecting when they said "on the water" unit. There was no river to be seen from our unit so we felt duped there. Units ARE very close to each other so anyone staying out on their patio late can be heard by all. The family room is small and it's a two person couch. The rocking chair just takes up space when there isn't much space to begin with. WiFI IS spotty and 3G service is minimal. Dog "area" is a unkept dirt field with over growing weeds, rocks and LOTS of mud. The staff was friendly and the breakfast options were good and filling. If you're not planning on spending lots of time in your unit or have a small family (2 adults, 2 kids under 10 and midsize Dog was almost too much for this unit), this would be a nice place to stay. If you have a large family, don't like close quarters and want something more with a view, I would recommend looking at other options. read more

We loved our stay at Three Rivers.  It was our first family getaway with our daughter, and the set up was generally great for that.  The cabin was cozy and having the restaurant on site was great! It was so nice to have the deck and hot tub to have some time together while our daughter was sleeping.  And- the view!!!! Breathtaking! The living room furniture was well loved, but worked nicely.  The bed was very comfortable! Definitely would come back again in the future when we can enjoy some of the outdoor activities more! read more

My father, brother and I had an amazing day of fishing with Evan Hammans - I would recommend him and Willowfly Anglers to anyone! We fished a small local stream and Evan excellently balanced guiding expert fisherman (my dad) with teaching my brother and me. His continuous enthusiasm will keep you on your toes and excited whether or not you are getting fish (although our day was action packed all day long!). He also seamlessly integrates his expert knowledge of biology to teach about the ecosystem - even my teenage brother was interested. Expert guiding - would recommend Evan Hammans to all. A day of fishing that will be hard to beat - even my father (a fisherman of 40+ years) said this was his best day of fishing in over 10 years. Thank you for such an amazing experience! read more

The restaurant is under new management and we were very disappointed with the food (burgers, tots, nachos, etc.). Tots were especially weak, extremely over cooked. One bartender, perhaps a manager was rude and showed lack of respect when ordering a drink (at the bar). Our new server was nice and drinks tasted good. We come every summer 4-5 times and look forward to the tasty food but this experience and new management will leave us to eat else where! Also a step in the outdoor seating area caused 2 people to fall, very unsafe and unprofessional! Hope they can get this figured out. read more

I love this property and stay here every year. The cabins are great and most of the staff is super friendly. However, the old man that runs the restaurant/ bar (Bob, I don't know if he's the manager or owner), is a crotchety old SOB. Very unfriendly and not customer focused AT ALL. Avoid him if you can. Made my latest visit to the bar very uncomfortable and I wonder why someone like that works in the hospitality industry. Unfortunate because I'm going to dine at other places or just drink/ eat in my cabin. read more

Stayed here with another couple and it was pretty nice, I would recommend staying here. We stayed in a two bedroom cabin right on the river, the place comes equipped with a small but sufficient kitchen and living quarters, additionally there is a large enclosed patio with another exposed patio with a grill, table and hot tub. The cabins are fairly close by so if you are looking for an intimate wilderness experience, this isn't it, but if your looking for a cool place to relax, hot tub with friends, fish and have fun, then this may be the place for you. The resort has a small convenience store and a restaurant on site. We stayed here for a chili and beer festival that was up in Crested Butte and it was perfect. We were able to take our dogs with us which was HUGE. The down side to that is the resort had signs posted everywhere that there were specific areas for your pet, but vague as to where they were and the convenience store did not carry pet bags-so if your out, good luck, drive another half hour somewhere to get them. I would recommend this place, it was perfect for what we needed. The place was clean and really easy to get to, no confusing roads to take and really close to other attractions. read more

Stayed for five nights in a cabin on the Taylor River and did a full day float trip with Willowfly Anglers and guide Evan Hammans. The cabin was extremely clean, had nice amenities, and the location couldn't be beat. It was perfect for our family of four. The fly fishing float with Evan was great! I learned a ton from Evan and we caught a lot of beautiful fish. It was a great day on the water and I highly recommend Evan! read more

This is a great place to stay if you're coming or going from Crested Butte. The cabins are nicely stocked and the river is gorgeous - make sure you have a beer at the restaurant. The only reason I didn't give our stay 5 stars is because our neighbors in the huge house next door (a large group of people) stayed up virtually all night being loud and partying. After one call, they quieted down for awhile but they were back at it again after an hour or so. If you want peace and quiet, make sure to ask for a cabin away from the large house(s) on the property. read more

We rented a RV camp site. It was a joke. Water faucet was in the area you back over and then under the camper. Had to use a claw hammer to remove sewer cap. There was a steel pipe sticking out of the ground 4" right where you back on to the pad. The pipe for sure could destroy a tire. And it's just a big dirt parking lot. Unless your desperate there is no reason to stay here. They clearly are not in this to provide a good experience. read more

My son and I stayed at Three Rivers Resort in Jul 2018. We had a cabin (#38). I also booked 2 guided trips with the Outfitters side (1 Full day float trip and 1 half day wading trip). The Resort: I found everything to be great for my boy and I. The cabin was very nice and we wound up cooking several meals during our stay (my wallet sure liked that with a teenager). The porch area was very nice to sit out in the cool evening and read and relax. The grounds folks (Johnny was great) were very nice and helpful when I had questions about the area. All in all, the resort was excellent and we will return (already planning a trip for next year). The Guided Trips: The full day drift trip was OUTSTANDING. Our guide was Eric. He did a wonderful job with my boy (his first time fly fishing). Eric was very patient with my boy and explained all things fly fishing and trout to him. Eric did get my boy on numerous fish and my boy wound up getting 6 or 8 to net. I cannot recommend Eric more highly. Book a trip with him and be ready for a great day on the Gunnison. The half day wade trip was OUTSTANDING as well. The guide for this trip was Audrey. She was just as good and thorough as Eric. She and I went up on the East River and waded for the morning (my boy did not go as he was suffering with Altitude Sickness). Audrey was very friendly and outgoing and knew the river well. She put me on fish throughout the morning and was extremely patient with my tangles (sorry about all those, Audrey). Just like Eirc, I cannot recommend Audrey any more highly. You will enjoy company and her knowledge of the area is wonderful. All in all, everything about the experience of Almont and the Three Rivers Resort was wonderful. If I visit Crested Butte or Gunnison, I always stay at 3 Rivers Resort. It is quaint and affordable, and situated in between the two towns (although a little closer to Gunnison). You can upgrade to a cabin with newer amenities and a hot tub, or you can stay very inexpensively in a small studio cabin. I love that I can bring my dogs, it makes a weekend get away to the mountains much more do-able. WiFi is limited and the TVs only get 6 channels or so, but it's the perfect combo of camping and mountain retreat. Each cabin has it's own outdoor space with a fire pit and a bbq, as well as a fully furnished kitchen. This can really help you stay out of town and enjoy the scenic Taylor Reservoir area without needing to go into town. I highly recommend it. read more

I selected this place based on the web site and wished I had gone somewhere else considering the price. I thought we reserved one of the nicer "cabins" - the George Bailey loft. What they don't show you on the website is the trailer park you have to drive through to get there and the junk yard of old vans, snowmobiles, and other crap from their place that you get to look at from your "cabin". The "free" wi-fi never worked along with the TV. When we complained they said everyone was having problems and they couldn't do anything. Of course neither the tv or wi-fi worked all weekend. If you pay this much you should at least have a tv to watch while it is pouring rain rather than looking out your window at a junkyard of old trucks. I know this one is petty, but when we went to order take out for dinner, we asked for ranch dressing rather than ketchup for our fries and the guy wanted to charge us for it after we had paid. Should be rated FIVE STARS!!! Come for the fishing, come for the rafting, but make sure you stay for the smoked BBQ! I have driven by this place dozens of times on my way to Crested Butte to ski and Almont has always just been a bend in the road covered with ice thanks to the Taylor River. I'm here in June for a wedding and smelled the meat smoker much of the afternoon. Had to try it. I've been around for almost 70 years and tried smoked BBQ all over the country. This was special! Generally, most brisket is dry and chewy - overcooked. Not here. Tender and juicy is an understatement. So smoky and juicy it would be a disservice to cover it with any BBQ sauce. If you're within 100 miles of this place this summer and feel the need for real smoked brisket, make the drive. It's worth it! read more

Had a great time on our full day fishing trip. If you're a beginner or a veteran you would be well advised to ask for Will. He has been fishing the CB/Almont area since he was 5 and is very knowledgeable about its surrounding rivers.
