Rare ribeye

Not as good as prior times I've been. Small menu, they struggle with being adequately staffed during times of the year, but beautiful building, great service. the food has really gone down hill. Especially for the price.

Not sure I love the remodel (feels cheap, sterile and missing that traditional "lodge" feeling) but food is still good! I do like how they oriented the restaurant so that it faces sisters- gorgeous views. Our server was fantastic. The hostess was not super friendly and very frazzled as she also was bringing water and food to tables. She told us there was a ten minute wait even though more than half the restaurant was empty. There were many new menu options for breakfast. The coffee cake was outstanding - very almondy, which I liked it. I probably should have gotten something more creative than the ham and cheese omelette so that's my bad. It was standard. My husband liked his frittata OK but it wasn't really a frittata. There were no potatoes and more like an open faced omelette. Mimosa, coffee and Bloody Mary mix were solid.

We had an exquisite experience - everything was 5 star - the Private Dining room was everything we hoped for and more! Our server Paola was very attentive, patient and professional serving a very jovial and "busy" group. The bar tender Chris S made excellent cocktails and made sure everyone was happy with their drinks! He and Paola made a great team. Our food ranged from the delicious ribeyes, salmon and caulifower steaks. The desserts were fabulous too! We are from Sisters - it was a great night and we will be back. Thank you very much! Aspen Lounge menu.

We were staying at Black Butte and wanted to grab dinner. The Lodge was a little fancier than we were looking for (and needed reservations) but the hostess suggested the Aspen Lounge upstairs for a more casual experience. The Lounge was beautiful, great view outside, the waitress was attentive, drinks were strong, and the food was delicious.

Food is very good and view is great. Service was also very good considering, it's summer in Sisters.

We were there for Christmas day brunch. It was overpriced $68 for fishy salmon, steamed sreak, slimy caprice salad, and no prime rib.

Great food, and just such a short drive from Sisters. I wish we had time to come here for dinner more often.

Update review. We keep getting a male server who is stressed out and impatient. Makes us feel…read morerushed. Acts like he's a great waiter and like we're unworthy customers. He sweats and pushes us to order and eat fast, doing that waiter thing when they pretend they are not rushing you. "Just checking if you need that plate taken away." Not fooling anyone. Brusque to my brother who is into fine wines and requested tastes of some by-the-glass wines before committing to a glass or a bottle. My wife stated she is uncomfortable around the server. We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

The vibe was peaceful and inviting, making it the perfect spot to unwind. Service was attentive, though a bit on the slower side, we waited almost an hour for the main course. They do have a kitchen break between 3:30-4:30 PM, and I'd recommend making a reservation if you're planning to visit during peak hours. The food was fresh, flavorful, and creatively presented--it's clear the chef enjoys experimenting with unique flavor combinations. My husband tried the seafood lasagna, which was a tasty and satisfying treat. The scallops dish was also delicious, though slightly too salty for my taste and quite light--it came with a small amount of polenta and a vegetable purée, so I found myself a bit hungry afterward. Many people around us were ordering pasta, and it looked fantastic--definitely something I'd love to try next time. Overall, a beautiful place with great food and a memorable atmosphere. Highly recommend!

On our last morning in Sisters, we met up with friends for brunch at the Cottonwood Cafe. We were…read morelooking for a local breakfast spot before heading home, and Cottonwood hit the spot. The table was filled with breakfast favorites. We ordered hotcakes, eggs, bacon, potatoes, and huevos rancheros. A couple of morning cocktails also made an appearance, including Cottonwood's version of a Bloody Mary and a rum-infused mocha. The huevos rancheros had a bit more kick than expected, but it worked. Our server was fun and easy to chat with, which added to the relaxed feel of the morning. Nobody rushed us, and breakfast with friends is one of those things that shouldn't be rushed. Will we be back? Probably. Cottonwood Cafe feels like a place where locals and visitors can both feel at home, and it was a nice way to wrap up another great trip to Sisters. After we sat down and started looking over the menu, our very friendly server came to take our order. Before she did, she apologized and told us she had some bad news--they were out of a few items. Unfortunately, it wasn't just a few things; it was almost the entire menu. They were out of bread, buns, and lettuce, along with several sandwiches, including the Reuben. She even asked if we wanted to stay given how many items were unavailable. I had been looking forward to their amazing smash burger, but since they were out of buns, that wasn't an option. Instead, I ordered a parfait bowl with a side of potatoes, and my mother ordered the buttermilk pancakes. This situation is unfortunate not only for the customers, but also for the servers, who are left trying to provide good service despite having so many menu items unavailable. Sadly, this experience was disappointing enough that we won't be returning.
