Flat iron steak with chimmuchuri. OK, but definitely will visit again and check out other menu items. Beautiful setting!

As someone with food allergies, it's VERY important I feel confident that I will not be served food which I cannot tolerate. I always let the server know of my allery to dairy and usually am able to still enjoy eating out. This was not the case here, so I'll be quite leery about going back.

As of early July 2024, their menu is basically hamburgers and hot dogs. Such a shame, it has a wonderful view.

Tender, not gamey, cooked for 5 plus hours until so beautifully rendered I would swear they coaxed fat out of it that doesn't exist. Sauces were delicious, especially the horseradish. The duck fat fries and watermelon salad were also winners. I was worried about ordering oysters this far from the ocean but whoever they are sourcing from did a great job. Delicious. Cocktails and dessert rounded out an exceptional meal and service was relaxed and attentive. We'll be back for sure next time we're in town.

The staff was friendly and personable, and the menu looked promising. We ordered the steamed mussels, beet salad, McArthur burger, and wild mushrooms. The burger was probably the highlight of the meal. Mine was a little more done than I prefer, but it was still very good. The beet salad was enjoyable, though not particularly memorable. The mussels were okay, but several were chewier than I'd expect. The biggest disappointment was the wild mushrooms. I was expecting something that would showcase the variety and flavor of wild mushrooms. Instead, the texture and taste reminded me of the canned mushrooms I grew up eating as a kid. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. We passed on dessert and left feeling a little underwhelmed given the prices and the setting. Would we come back? Probably not. In fact, when we were deciding where to eat the following night with friends, we suggested Three Creeks Brewing instead. If you found this review helpful, give it a like so it can help others too.

Between the exceptionally good food at Hook and Plow, a most pleasant hotel experience, and a memorable trip to the High Desert Museum; our trip to Bend turned out to be a pleasure instead of the miserableness I expected. We had the Steak Tartare, the Chef's Board, the Blackend Crabcake, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Bone-in Pork Chop. We each got the cheesecake for desert and split the other dishes. This was more than enough for the three of us and we left full, happy, and with three large to-go boxes. The flavors of the various dishes were amazing. While all the dishes were vvery good, the standouts to me were the steak Tartare, the Pear and Burrata Salad, and the Cheesecake.

There are big windows so you can get the rays of sun. It's light and warm. My bartender, Cody, was very warm and welcoming. He really made my visit a nice one. I got the green salad with the lemon cintronette, which was perfectly dressed. I added some grana padano cheese. It was *chef's kiss* I also got the dungeoness crab Calabrian pasta, because I love Calabrian chiles. It didn't have the deep flavor I was looking for. And the pasta really overtook the crab. The Marionberry Spritz, was great. I feel like I got all the things that you should if you're in the NW. I would definitely come back here. The folks are lovely.

Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, and did not rush us through our meal. We prefer to eat and drink leisurely, with conversation, food, and wine framing the evening. Brusque to my brother who is into fine wines and requested tastes of some by-the-glass wines before committing to a glass or a bottle. My wife stated she is uncomfortable around the server. We don't go to the Open Door much now. Old review. A real romantic spot. Great drinks. My wife loves it. Sitting outside is best but the bar is good too. Some nights they put tables in the art gallery out front and you sit around the paintings and jewelry, kind of fun. There used to be a waitress named Kristen or Kirsten, a lady with long hair and clogs, the best server I've ever had and I don't just mean in Central Oregon. The Open Door is the probably the best dining experience in Sisters. Living in Tumalo and working throughout Oregon, I go to Sisters often. Unfortunately Sisters isn't a great town for food. The Open Door has some very-good food, and some pretty-good food. You never know which it's going to be. The halibut, meatballs, and lasagnas are solid. Berries and cream dessert is great. The menu doesn't change much over the years. If my wife didn't love it I wouldn't go back so often. Get bored eating the same dishes over and over. When my brother and his grown kids visit they like the atmosphere, especially those small houses outside with the plants. However they have trouble finding a selection that works for their way of eating, allergies, one is vegan and one is lactose intolerant.

Bad news. Good news…read more Bad news first is this: The Drake has been sold to new owners and TONIGHT, APRIL 12, WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF SERVICE at The Drake with the original owner and the current menu. So if you're hankering for the mac n cheese or shrimp n grits or veg burger or any of the menu items, after today they are history. I started eating at The Drake in their first week of business and had many, many, many meals there over the years but things change and so, it seems, has the popularity of The Drake. Now the good news. The new owners are a trio and one of them is also one of the owners of the inestimable Ken's Artisan Pizza in Portland that opened its' Bend location last year. (Go! Even if you have to stand in line for 45 minutes like I did.) The first news of this ownership change was that they would keep the name and current focus of The Drake. But local television news reports that after The Drake closes today it will be reimagined with a new name and design and menu. The opening for the new place is currently said to be Memorial Day weekend. I don't live in Bend anymore but there is still a family home there and so I visit on occasion and knowing a "Ken's" owner is involved in the new enterprise may make me brave the wicked-bad downtown parking to try this new place. In the meantime, I remember how fun and delicious it could be to eat at The Drake.
