Visited today for the first time, Had the adult grilled cheese with homemade chips which was very good, son had a hamburger with tater tots which he said was very good. Staff is super friendly. there was a bears game on and they gave coupons out every time the bears scored and also put out free food at half time. It could use some beautifying and better access to napkins, silverware, ketchup etc but was an overall pleasant experience. They have an outside area that overlooks the lake but again - it could use some revamping. View is great! read more

New restaurant in Lakemoor? Sure, we'll bite! Lakemoor's so small, that anything new is a treat (most of the time). Heard their wings were pretty amazing, so I did try their traditional wings. Delicious! The wings were huge, meaty and not breaded, which was great. The flavor of the sauce was awesome - not spicy, but had a nice zing to it. Service was fast and friendly. Was not impressed with the decor. I believe they just recycled the old decor from the previous failed restaurants in this building, and that just made it seem blah inside. There were some obvious improvements from the previous establishments, which was nice to see, but nothing that really stood out as exceptional, or stood out from any other sports bar in the area. I, too, was disappointed to get disposable silverware/cups. Since this is a very new opening, I am hoping that it will change in the future when they are more established. Personally, I think it cheapens the experience to get plastic forks and solo cups. Other than those two trivial things, I would come back for the yummy food! read more

OUT! OUT! OUT! OUT! I read the reviews and even with all the complaints on them running OUT of stuff, we wanted to give it a shot anyway and hope for the best. Its Friday night 6:00pm and we order 8 buffalo wings and 8 hot wings, one with ranch and one with blue cheese. GUESS WHAT? that were OUT of wings well, KIND OF...they only had 14 wings (remember it is Friday at 6pm) so we got 7 wings each. GUESS WHAT they are OUT of blue cheese so we got two ranches. WINGS were absolutely old and freezer burned or reheated NO IDEA. (waitress took them off our bill) SO I also got a burger $3.95. Meat tasted old and believe me it may sound like it, but we are NOT picky eaters. I will save the ONE STAR is for the bartender/waitress/everything for the entire bar. She did well, was nice and made are bill right and not at our request. The sad thing is she probably has to deal with this stuff constantly. I feel bad for her. I've been here twice now already and can say I'm a big fan of their torpedo burgers. The service has been fantastic, staff was frienldy and both times I was asked by the owner, Paul, how my experience has was. It's clear he is interested in what his patron's think and overall has great potential. Like the other reviews pointed out the decor is a little dated and can use a few more TV's but that improve and shouldn't keep anyone away. Can't wait for the grand opening! read more

Had their Torpedo Burger with Cheddar Schmutz and Bacon. Really flavorful and juicy burger. Came with a fried pickle and homemade chips. Service was excellent as well. My only criticism is the decor and presentation. Most of the tables and chairs are remnants from the steakhouse that used to be there, and look very dated. On the upside, though, the area that was renovated does look very nice, so I'm guessing it's a work in progress. Also, our drinks were served in disposable plastic cups and our silverware was also of the disposable plastic variety. I'm sure we will be returning for the great food. read more

Went there with two of my friends for lunch the other day. The three of us sat at the bar and there was another couple across the bar from us. They appeared to have just finished eating. We waited what felt like 20 minutes and no one came to greet us, there was no one behind the bar and no signs of life... Needless to say, we left. I don't have time to sit there and watch nothing happen. We went down the street to Buddy's pizza and had a fantastic meal. Decent redecorating from what it used to be but there have been a few businesses try that location and fail after less than a year. I don't see this one thriving if they don't change a few things. Good- Owner/Manager? stopped by table twice to check upon us. Was able to sit and be served quickly. Lots of tv's so you could watch the action from pretty much anywhere. Family atmosphere, would be comfortable bringing my teens in to watch a game, Upstairs and outdoor seating, efforts to make sure your not eaten alive by mosquito's outside, friendly staff, comfortable chairs and booths if you prefer. Bad-overpriced, limited menu, menu items were traditional but attempting to be upscale doesn't work, server was nice but didn't hear correct hamburger size ( I got the 6 oz vs the 8 oz I ordered), didn't hear my husband ask for the check, was pretty delayed coming by to ask for refills although not very busy, tables are a mish mosh of round rough painted wood seating 6 or more, to laminated square wood seating 4, to nice bar height tables. Womens bathroom has 1 stall ( what do they do on anticipated busy nights?) Confusing exit, I almost walked into the kitchen! We went on a Hawks game night and it was fairly full when we arrived but by the 3rd period it was mostly empty. For a Sports Bar, NOT GOOD. Menu- they offer an original Burger with different themes or options. 6oz, 8 oz and I2 oz. I ordered a standard 8 ( got the 6) and the size of the bun comparably speaking was ridiculous. I'm sure it fits 12 oz just fine. They claim a 40 yr old recipe for the hambuger meat. I didnt care for it. I'd rather taste a good ground sirloin than weirdly seasoned meat. Sides were house made chips, with different seasonings or tater tots. I don't care for either so I went with the tots, hubby got the chips. Neither of us were impressed with either. Hubby got the BLT and he said it was good but Buddys right down the road was better and priced less. The Cole slaw looked good but after a few bites I noticed a spiciness to it. I didn't like it, hubby did. Hubby and I agreed that it seemed like they were trying to upscale traditional sports bar food but unfortunately it doesn't work. I think if they offered good old hearty traditional burgers, brats, pizza, sandwiches, hot wings, french fries, onion rings, etc., they would draw in more business. The competition for a decent sports bar is pretty heavy. They have an awesome location but like I said some changes need to be made before I'll return. Which is unfortunate as we live just blocks away and if they had really good food at decent prices we would go there and recommend to others. read more

I live close so I thought I would give it a shot. Big mistake!!! Walked into the place, fine, no big deal, it's a bar. We seat ourselves, 2 servers walk by us without saying anything. We sit in front of a tv which also happens to be right in front of the kitchen door and server stand, so they see us, even the owner sees us. 5 minutes go by and we finally have a server come over who seemed like she could care less about work. We ordered wings and fried pickles, no big deal. After 3-5 minutes, our server comes back out if the kitchen to let us know they don't have the pickles, they keep ordering them, but they never get delivered, so we ordered onion rings which she didn't seem know they had, learn the menu. The wings were small, not worth the price by any means! The serves then stand by the server stand and talk about people in the party that was there, go in the kitchen and talk about them. One of the owners did come by twice to check on us, so that was nice, other than that, won't go back! I have worked in the industry for years, so I understand it gets crazy when it gets busy, but 2 tables plus a party in the dining room does not qualify as busy! read more

The "Longshot" here would be ordering something off the menu and them actually having it. A group of 8 of us tried this place out of the blue in mid January. We were seated rather promptly and had our drink orders filled quickly and that is where it all went wrong. After about 20 minutes they took our order only to inform us that they no longer had steak of any kind, mind you this was 1/4 of their menu. We were then informed they had no tater tots or potato skins. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, about 20 minutes later I was using the rest room when the waitress returned and informed the table that they had run out of bacon and had to run to the store to get it. The unbelieveable part of this is that bacon is on nearly EVERYTHING they serve, if it's a staple on your menu how in the world can you be out of it? If I had been there I would have said forget it just bring us the tab. We're all about patroning local business as boaters, snowmobiliers, and bikers. This is one business I CAN NOT reccomend unless you want to use their video poker machines. As a side note the place wasn't busy that night, there was a total of about 10 people in the bar and a terrible keroke dj playing music way too loud for an empty bar. read more

Parking lot was a confusing mess, bare plywood floor,s the TV in our seating area wasn't on, our drinks came in plastic cups, we ate with plastic forks. Service was okay. Frozen food fried...was good, not overpriced. Facility needs some work, it harmed the experience. Old furniture, unfinished floors... We've stopped in here a few times, and have found the brother / sister owner team to be actively involved with operations, and both very personable. The food has been consistently excellent; burgers are very well spiced and cooked to perfection. I note an earlier review doesn't like the weird spices; it's a preference thing, I prefer good meat and a good spice mix, which is what they have here. The homemade chips and variety of sauces are great! After reading the other reviews, I did notice the stools at the tables are dated. But we like to sit at the bar, which is fitted with new / comfortable stools. So, if your priority is high quality stools at a bar, go elsewhere. They also have a retro bowling game complete with the container of sawdust to help the puck slide smoothly. read more

The place is an old folks home. We got yelled at for having a conversation at the bar during A PLAYOFF GAME!!! We were told that we were too loud.. talking. I am 38 and have been a fan of our sports teams for years, and I have NEVER been asked to MOVE TO A TABLE because it was not quiet enough at the bar. The only reason I would give this place one star is due to the room inside and the activities that can be taken advantage of. However, I would avoid this place at all costs. I went in on a Tuesday afternoon. The owner was the bartender and the only one working. Their menu is limited and they were out of burgers......which left appetizers or pizza. My party ordered two appetizers and a small pizza. The appetizers were burnt, common fried food. The pizza was very undercooked. To put the cherry on the cake we were sitting at the bar......there were ants crawling on our plates! Let me repeat that, ants crawling on our plates and on the bar. This place is a good, local, newly-remodeled bar and grill. We started with the chicken wings, which had great sauce. They pan fry them, so there's no breading to "hold" the sauce to the wing. We were also there on a Wednesday, which is half price pizza night. Great thin crust and flavorful sauce. The best part was the server and the owner. Both were very friendly, and extremely attentive. You don't find that often anymore! So, if you're expecting white linen tablecloths and wine, go somewhere else. I've stopped in a couple of times, and my husband has started to become a regular. Owners are extremely friendly, and get to know the customers fast, which is a big plus. Yes, it's a newer place, and I think a lot of people are driving past thinking of previous incarnations, but we really enjoyed it. We enjoyed the food, and the atmosphere, servers were friendly and helpful, service was prompt. There was a large group there, and while they were having fun rooting for their team, it wasn't crazy like some places can get, we could still have our own conversations too. Well, we live close by & were initially very impressed with The Long Shot. Sadly, that has changed. What used to be fantastic burgers with delicious homemade chips has now become average. When they opened, their specialty turpedo burgers were served on ciabatta rolls. Now, with their changed menu-they are on normal, everyday rolls. My FAVORITE burger-the cheddar bacon schmutz, which is still on the menu, however is now without the schmutz-the best part. It was covered with merkt's cheddar. When I ordered it last night, the waitress informed me the menu has an error & now it comes with plain cheddar. Another fail. Finally, the burgers come with your choice of fries or tots. What happened to the delicious garlic homemade chips??? Waitress said, "Well, they were pretty labor intensive." Really?? I'm sorry-that's right-sacrifice taste and originality because they take longer to make. Conclusion-not worth it anymore. Nothing special. Decor is awful, but was overlooked when the food was so good. Disappointed! Oh, and originally, the burgers were offered in multiple sizes-now they are all 8oz. :( And, our burgers were definitely well done instead of medium well. Bummed!!! I've been to this bar previously and didn't have huge issues - they're out of a certain meal or beer. We did get a stare down from the regulars at the bar every time we walked in, but the owners were friendly. This past Saturday we went for the monthly "birthday party" where they have a DJ come in. The place was more crowded and the music was good. I enjoyed the goodie bag and the cupcakes. BUT - there was one patron sitting at the bar who began spouting off racial slurs to the bartender and anyone that would listen stating that everyone in the bar needs to leave and that they are all *expletive*. Now, my friend overheard and asked him to stop repeatedly. The bar tender did nothing, the owners did nothing. After the situation escalated we stepped outside and were taking my friend home. The guy decided to come out at that moment - spouted off more racial slurs in front of the owner - and then drove away almost running my friend over in the parking lot. The owner, again, did nothing and instead threatened to call the police on my friend stating that they would take her side because they know her. Needless to say I will not be going back or supporting a business that does not take it's patron's safety seriously or take action when someone is clearly being disrespectful and ignorant. If they choose to serve someone who is ok with disrespecting everyone else in the bar, then this is not a place I want to be. read more

This is by far my and my friends Favorite place in Northern Illinois to be. I've lived up here for quite sometime and can imagine life up here without the Longshot! It's not just about the great drinks and specials here. This place has so much more to offer!! From the way that you are greeted as you come, to the way you will feel more welcome here than at home. The first time I came in it was like Cheers but not everyone knew my name! Yet, they quickly became familiar with me and now they know me by name! Everyone is extremely friendly from the owners all the way down to the guests! The food here is GREAT!! I love the way they are constantly coming up with New & Fresh menu items! This is thanks to the two Owners and the Chef! Everything from Pizza, wings, pulled pork, torpeado burgers, prime rib, ribs, salad, wraps and all the amazing appetizers you could think of (everything is phenomenal) not to mention the love and care that they are all made with. They will customize anything for you!. This is a home away from home, the family that everyone needs! No matter what's going on with me they are there to help! We went there for the advertised Fish Fry. The selection on the menu looked impressive. I got the Fry and Shrimp combo and my fiance got the fish fry. I kid you not, they served us Gordon's fish sticks! I felt insulted by my food. They should stick to being a bar, not advertising dinner. The bar looks new and improved. read more

Have to say I don't agree with some of theses post. What's nice here the owners and staff care about you. As far as mot having what you order we have had no problem.
